She just recently join right? Give her sometime. Let her go trough Islam slowly, she can't accept everything in one shot. Someday she will change and follow. Just keep reminding her or tell her to fast once in awhile, even before or after Ramadhan. And remind her that fasting is a compulsory.

How old is she?
It is important that you teach her fast 3nodding
Teach her why to do it, and what if she don't. If she decline, then it's her problem.

Tell her to fast a couple of times during the month. Since its the first time it might be hard for her but she has to try. Fasting is important in islam and she should try to go into it too. Don't pressure her though. That'll just scare her and make her think its too hard. Just let het do a couple at a time. Best way to encourage her: She'll lose some weight and look pretty. =3 Plus if you want you can look up some motivational stories of the month of ramadan and tell it to her. Maybe she'll start then. =)

MissScienceSugarCoated Assalamu alaikum My little sister recently converted to islam and enjoys it. She looks up to me for direction and advice >w< but she flat out told me that Ramadan is not her "thing" should i advise her to fast or let her do what she wants? i don't want to force her into it. thanks alot heart Salaam wa aleikom Sister,
1. Try to inform her more about the Meaning of Ramadan, Not only that its to clear our body, but also so that we dont forget the ones, who live a day on just one slice of bread,
Perhaps she thinks of it as a month of `No Food/Drink.
Explain her that it is more than that,
_________________________________________
2. Dont let her listen to the Devil, the devil is whispering in her ear,
"A month long no food?... just have a bite , Allah wont mind, and you know you want to"
No. its a test for her if she truly wants to become a muslim she needs to figure out a way through this test, ignore the devil! and listen to Allah (swt) and if He tells you to fast ... you fast!, If Allah (swt) tells you to not eat for 5 years!, you eat not for 5 years! because He is Allah (swt) the bringer of light! the bringer of dark! the One who has given you life!
Who are you!... to deiced if you fast or not! when Allah (swt) tells you to!
I hope you can clear her eyes, mind and heart.. Sister, dont give up on her.. you dont need to force her. but as long as you dont give up on her.
