Shalhevet slammed a dark red paw down on it’s back, far enough back so it couldn’t strike and reached down to crunch off the scorpions’ sting. Then she simply pressed down hard. The little arachnid shouldn’t have crawled out the rocks by her tail if it had wanted to live. She was young but she knew the rule of paw that small claws meant big poison. No way she was letting it go this close to where a bunch of cubs were playing, since half of the cubs seemed too soft to deal with it. No way she was freaking out over a small bug either. Such things didn’t scare her. The young lioness gave a small smug growl and groomed her paw clean.

hisssssssss.....
The creature squirmed in his jaws, its long body struggling against the jaws that held it. Snakes were far stronger than they may have appeared, but his jaws held tight. He had plans for the snake, and he wasn't about to give up his prize.
"Stop struggling or I'll snap your neck."
His jaws closed tighter to emphasize his words, and as desired, the snake quieted. Heh heh heh, not that he wouldn't break the snake's neck later (or worse), but for now, its longing for survival blinded it to that future.
For now, the cub was on the hunt again, eyes searching for footprints in the sands, nose lowered to catch any scent linger near each rock. He had his snake, now to find a mouse for his game.

Paw clean, she turned her attention to the place she'd been told to go 'play' at.
Now why couldn't her siblings be here? She was bored and she didn't know this lot and those two cubs over there looked like they were cuddling. I mean really! Shalhevet rolled her eyes and lay down. She should be socializing with cubs she wasn't related to, she knew, but she was not the touchy feely kind. Unless by touchy you meant playfighting and but feely you meant the rush of adrenaline it brought. Seemed more classy to show affection in private only anyway.
Her tail tip swayed and she watched disinterestedly at the various cubs playing around here. Maybe she could sneak off and go practise hunting instead. Ilahle'd always take her out hunting, provided she wasn't busy with that new litter of Ursa's, if she asked nicely...

He paused, nose lowered, a twitch of his tail. Ah-hah, mouse, he had caught the scent. His head lowered, red eyes narrowed as he peered into the crevice between two rocks, the unmistakable glint of prey eyes staring back at him, its small body pushed as far back as it possibly could.
But there was no escape, the predator had found the prey.
A grin splitting his maw, the cub crouched. Talons unsheathed, Baal reached between the rocks with one paw, delighting in the panicked squeak as his paw barely missed the mouse. He reached in further, but the mouse eluded his grasp, it was too far back.
GRRRRRR! Stupid mouse!
Growling, he pulled his paw from the crevice, his head lowered again to glare at the small creature, his nose sniffing at the opening. He was going to get that mouse damn it!
"Stupid creature, you'll never escape."
But his jaws clenched in frustration, sparking a hiss and squirm of protest from the snake still held in his jaws.

Well now. That was something.....different.
Shalhevet raised an eyebrow and smirked with amusement as she watched an older cub try to hold on to a small snake in his jaws and try to catch something in a crevice in the rocks. The cub looked a little crazy but hey - he was interesting and had seemingly caught a snake. That was more than the cuddlecubs had going for them. She got up and replaced her smirk with a more acceptable slight smile and headed over to observe this amusing specimen closer to.
"Need a paw catching that - " she sniffed delicately as she approached, noting the way this corner of the rocks smelt faintly of rodent - "mouse, I think it is? I'm curious to see what you'd do with it and that snake if you catch it."
((Sorry this took so long Amon.))

Baal growled, his head snapping to level an angry glare at whoever had spoken to him as his paw once again reached for the mouse. Grrr, stupid, what the hell made them think he wanted any help from anyone? Hmph! But there was something that made him pause, his tail twitching as his paw pulled free.
He had expected to see one of his siblings (stupid Adohan always seemed to find him at the worst moments, grrr), or at least one of the other idiot cubs that inhabited these lands. There was something different about her. Still, he was no so keen to take her offer. The snake, the mouse, they belonged to him, they were HIS toys, toys he was not inclined to share.
His tail twitched, eyes narrowed, gaze shifting between the cub and his prize hidden within the rock crevice. Hmmm...she was smaller than him, lighter, maybe she could reach further to catch that stupid mouse. Fine.
He took a step back, a gesture with his paw indicating she could try if she wanted to.
"Go ahead, but it's my mouse!"
He had to emphasize that last part, he had found it after all, it was HIS.(( I'm not sure what the size difference is between them, but I'm guessing Baal is bigger at least due to being older and male. He is on the large size for firekin, bigger than average thanks to grandad's (and mom's) genes, I wasn't sure if Fin genes make Sha big too ))

((Yep, Sha is on well the large side of the size scale, but she's still a cub, so~! Makes sense ^^ ))
"Yeah, yeah, it's your your - " She slipped her forepaw into the hole and after a few seconds of moving it around a bit pinned it and pulled it out. Like shooting fish in a barrel it was hardly hard to catch a trapped rodent, unless you were also holding on to a snake." - mouse."
The small creature struggled in her claws so she tightened her grip a little until it got the message. Sha sat down and held it up to show the stranger, turning her head to smile first at the terrified mouse and then at him. She wasn't manic but some would have said her amusement at holding another creature in her claws and then smiling at it was a tad creepy.
"So, what're we doing with your snake and your mouse then, hm? Setting them up to fight or something?"

Red eyes narrowed, a snarl around the snake that still slithered in his jaws. We? WE?! Snort, there was no we. His snake, his mouse, HIS game.
"Who said anything about -we-?"
Stupid, she was as bad as Adohan, always trying to take his toys, and then just ending up breaking them. Hmph, stupid sister, he'd break -her- one day. His paw had raised, prepared to reach out and snatch what was rightly his. A pause, his tail flicked, a fight? Yes, that was exactly what he had intended.
"Something like that."
Instead of snatching the mouse as he had initially intended, he simply held out his paw. His mouse, he wanted it, his game.
In it's captor's jaws, the snake squirmed, cold eyes turned to gaze at the rodent that would likely be its last meal. Such a cruel twist of fate that had landed it in the paws of such a monster.(( haha, they can both tower over everyone else together? xD ))

"Since I caught it..." She rolled her eyes. Boys. So stupidly headstrong and possessive over things that didn't matter. Still, she dawdled in handing the mouse over, taking a moment to hold it up by it's tail. It squeeked and tried to right itself, to bite perhaps at her paw. But it was helpless.
"It's a pity I didn't spot you sooner. I killed a small clawed scorpion a few minutes ago. It would have made it a more interesting fight to pit poison against fang...this mouse will be dead soon if that snake's worth its skin."
Shalhevet handed it over to the older boy, tilted her head as if to say 'lead the way then'. She was curious, yep, and more amused than she had been all morning.

A twitch of his tail, a wicked grin spread across the monster's maw as his paw snapped closed on the mouse, squeezing just enough to force a sharp squeak from his lungs. Oh how he enjoyed holding it's life in his paw, each moment of its remaining life, each breath, at his whim and his alone. He could have crushed the creature there if he chose, reveling in its tortured cries, it was an intoxicating thought. But not, the mouse's fate would not be so easy.
"Mice scream louder."
Baal'esh, the monster of the sands. He had killed snakes and scorpions, he had tortured them, had even pitted them against each other (Hah! so take that stupid little cub, I already thought of it first!), but nothing screamed so magnificently as a mouse. Well, nothing that a cub could catch, oh but he fully intended to experiment on larger creatures as he grew, prey beasts beware, the monster was coming.
His eyes narrowed, watching the cub a moment, why was she still there? Finally, he turned, shooting a glance over his shoulder, a look that said 'fine, but you had better not get in my way!'
Now, to the arena, let the game begin.
