We used to say biscuits instead of cookies. crying

*points to Americanisation thread*

I dunno what mine would be, but it's certainly not Vegemite, that's for sure. Horid, vile stuff that is. xp

I think I'll just go with Tim-Tams, even though that's now part of an American parent company also. rolleyes

biggrin That just gives me visions of little Anzac biscuits propped up on Harleys with little snack-size studded leather vests and thimble helmets. Awww ^_^

Lamingtons biggrin (I've been lead to believe that they're an Aussie invention. I'm not quite sure, though)

Well, this thread is getting into specifics so I'm tempted to lock this. But, it's relevant to a certain extent, although just a generall food thread or something, but at least it's not 'omgwholiekstimtms'.

Australia is a multicultural country so nothing one eats is specifically Australian unless it is a recipe of the aborigines, but if you want to be even more pinickedy they weren't originally native, nor were the animals.

I prefer a good Italian or Greek dish, they're as Australian as you can get really. Migrants made this country, made our culture, integrated their own into it. I'm happy with the ol' migrant dishes. Just as Australian as some of our trademark foods.

NB: Alot of 'Australian' foods are actually owned by foreign companies so I don't really like associating them as Australian.
