ooc: ~RP Meeting thinger - share your thoughts :D~

Hi everyone!
Well i'm back of holiday and firmly back in rp-land, so i thought to make up for my neglect these past few weeks I'd encourage all you nifty rpers to get together and have an ooc meeting about what you want out fo the roleplay forum, ideas you might have, and any problems/issues.

so, the floor is open - who wants to have their say first?

I was wondering at times what we should do about people who start RP-ing and then disappear and leave with no warning-what do we do with their character(s)-especially if they become an important role (ex: love interest)?

Send them a notice? See if they'll come back or why they're not around?

It won't hurt to tell him but I must ask as well, what do we do with people that drop off?

I meant the other RPs he's in such as Creeping Sleep and his own RP he made.

I didn't realize he dissapeared from all his RPS. xP

Good point (esp as I'm guilty of this xp ).
here's an idea or two, lemme know what you think:

Hmm...usually the normal rp characters are able to just go on ahead without them and they fade into the background. This of course is different if the rper has given prior warning s/he will be gone (which i'll get to later).

If the character holds important information (eg in the creeping sleep andy's character seems more 'in the know' than the others about Lolth) then during tehir absense their knowledge or role can pass back onto the other characters, that way the rp can keep going.

BUT if someone wants to rejoin, then maybe its best to inform them of a quick summary of events and orchestrate a way for their character to re-enter (which means co-operation/discussion 'tween all other rpers in that game). Naturally it's not always feasible for them to re-read everything, so after the initial catch-up info, they can plough on ahead rping as if new/afresh and the others rps can inform them of any contextual mistakes they make until they're firmly back in the loop.

IF an rper has previously informed people that they can't rp for a reason and will be gone a while, then I think that rp should slow down or stop until they return. Sub-plots with otehr characters can carry on, but more slowly. Any characters involved with the absent character will stop and await thier return. the group would try not to move the rp on by any more than 1 - max 5 pages, so that catch up reading is possible if needed. Naturally ppl would make an effort to include them again/inform them when they return.


umm...I think that covered all bases (if that made sense). What do you think? Good plan or not?

That applys if someone just dissapears from the RP with no notice, right?
Because that was the circumstance I was curious about.

new rp idea:

i just had an idea for a new rp - has anyone read stephanie meyer (twilight lady)'s 'host'? It's about good-guy/neutral parasites that live in humans who have effectively taken over the world. could be intersting.
(i've not read teh whole book yet tho -lol)

or, if we follow a theme - a twilight/vampire rp? hmm
