It felt like it'd been ages since she'd last encountered that strange male, though she couldn't help but yearn for another meeting even after all of that time had slipped past. Especially after running into Taku's twin the odd need to see him had only gotten worse, but nothing had come from her efforts of traveling out past the boarders every day. She sighed softly as she slipped past one of the last trees marking Kusini land and moved out into the rogue lands, expecting it to be another hopeless day.

"Oi, oi. Lookit, if yeh keep up this lil'eartbroken act I may jus'avta tell yer father." Kari shot a glance to her familiar, it was half a mixture of surprise and embarrassment and the other half was resent. "You wouldn't, stop that." She said quietly, tail flicking. She only knew a little bit about Sesere, mostly that his past was complicated and well hidden. He'd been with her since she was a cub and she only knew his name, really. Maybe it was just her... maybe she was bad at getting close to others, socializing? Maybe that was why he'd never came back this way.

She sighed softly and frowned as she slipped through some of the shorter grasses on the southlands. "Fine, fine. I will no tell yer father, bu' maybe yeh shoul' stop wishin' for it teh 'appen so much an ge'ton with yer life." She almost kicked him few sounding like such a sour puss as he offered her 'advice'. She just snorted and ignored it, after a few more minutes of walking and scanning the horizon she turned her back on it, almost as if she was mad at it. She jabbed her paw at the dirt and muttered a few things to herself.

"It's just not very fair Ses! I just wanted a friend, you know? My first real friend... that was what I thought anyways." She grumbled the last part, her mood turning more and more sour.

Taku didn't have anything particular in mind for today. He was simply wandering again, free from his sister due to this new male 'friend' of hers. She was growing up - that much was clear to the male. But he couldn't help but feel protective of his sister - he didn't want her to get hurt, be it emotionally or mentally. He could talk, really, what with his scars, but they had healed nicely and were now merely that - scars, not nasty great wounds. He smiled as he walked along, although it deepened into a slightly confused frown as he walked further and further into the Kusini'Mwezi forest - not that he knew that was what it was. It felt familiar, this place. He'd been here before.

And then he spotted the rock, and it all came back. Oh yeah, the girl! The rude, snotty, but in the end really nice girl! The one that was...well, kinda pretty. They'd slept next to each other there, on that rock. Taku blinked, a wide smile on his face as he bounded forwards, beginning to bounce on the spot as he looked around. Was she here, now? Oh, he hoped so!

"Eeeh, yeh do be quite 'opeless Kari. Thas' it then, I be goin' back teh where it be comfortable. The waterin'oles." Kari found herself sticking her tongue out at the retreating form of Sesere and muttering a few words about him too. He was always running off like that! Unhelpful git! After just a little more mopin and scratching images into the dirt Kari took a deep breath and clambered back to her feet, slipping back into the woods. A good five minutes had passed, but she had no wish to catch up with Sesere.

Through the winding trees and vines she didn't realize she was headed for the very lion she'd been looking for. She might have missed him too if not for the ruckus he was making, because she was slipping by the spot just east of him and when the motion had caught her eye her gaze had jerked that way and her whole expression lit up. "Taku!" Her voice was stunned, she almost thought she was seeing things suddenly.

She had turned almost on impulse and was heading closer to the fully grown male, eyes taking in the fluffy, creamy mane and the chocolate-brown fur, running over the pink designs and picking out the fainter scars, no longer did they look scary and horrible to her. It really was him! And to think the whole time she was out there looking for him, he must have been here! Well, she doubted it was every day... it was probably just a coincidental thing. "You're really here!" Still slightly shocked at the whole occurrence. "It's about time you know!" and the last bit was said with an angry edge to her voice, slightly hurt that he'd taken so long, even though it wasn't really his fault.

"Hmm?"

He glanced around at the sound of his name, his face lighting up with a bright, happy smile as he spotted his female friend, grinning as he bounded towards her just as eagerly. Oh, she was here! How exciting! Having found his way here twice, now, he was sure he'd remember the way back again, and he was glad. Seeing her again now...he was fairly sure he was going to want to see her again, after this. He stopped just before her, not entirely sure how he should greet her - rubbings necks seemed just a little too friendly, and he didn't want to scare her. So instead, he just settled for standing and grinning like a goofy idiot.

"Uh...yeah! I'm here! And you're there, Kari!" he replied merrily, tail swaying behind him at a steady pace. However, his brown ears flattened against his cream-coloured mane at her angry tone, his forehead frowning as he watched her. About time? ...Had he agreed to come back? He couldn't remember exactly what had happened when he'd woken up, but he couldn't remember telling her he'd come back. ...But maybe he should've anyway. She was a friend, and he should've come and said hello.

"Sorry," he mumbled, lowering his head slightly, "I couldn't find this place again. It's really hard to find, y'know?" He tried to smile sweetly, in an apologetic manner, hoping the smile might somehow...help her forget that he'd apparently done something wrong and put them on good terms again. He didn't want her to be angry at him. "So!" he eventually declared, standing tall again, "You've really grown! You're all big now!"

She saw his frown and almost felt guilty for getting mad... wasn't she supposed to work on her temper? He didn't even realize he'd done anything wrong, and she figured she wasn't being very fair to him. And he even apologized, stated his reasoning for why...

It was really good reasoning, too! The Kusini pride wasn't supposed to be easy to get to, the forrest wasn't supposed to be easy to navigate. her own ears flattened as she gave him a sheepish look, her heart pittering at the sweet smile he was offering her in apology. She offered her own smile back, coughing. "Er... yeah, guess you're right." She said softly, feeling the tiniest bit awkward before he mentioned how much she'd grown!

That was enough to take her mind off of the mistake she'd made and she beamed at him, almost standing taller as she did a full circle to show off her fully grown body. "Right? I look good, right?" She glanced to him, laughing. "You grew too.." She gestured with a paw. "Your mane came in all the way! And those scars look a lot better now.... less frightening!" She stated, moving closer to examin his back from a closer distance. "And no new ones I see... that's good. You know, I'm allowed on pride hunts now!" She added, moving around to the front of him before plopping down very close. Her nose was merely an inch from his own, though she thought it was just normal. She sat this close to her family, after all. She sounded proud about being allowed on pride hunts, as if it was a great accomplishment. Still, she hadn't even brought anything down... just helped. She'd leave that part off, of course.

She smiled back, and he instantly felt happier. Her smile kinda...lit up the area around them, and he couldn't help but smile back at her. It was infectious. She sounded a little awkward, like she felt she'd done something wrong. He hoped he hadn't made her feel bad. His ears drooped a little, but his eyes were still sparkling in excitement as he offered a reassuring, slightly apologetic smile. He hoped she felt better now!

She circled around and beamed a grin that made his whole body feel...weird. Almost like jelly. Blinking, he managed a goofy grin back, not daring himself to reply as she spoke, only nodding a little strangely. She looked...she looked a lot prettier. All brown and...pretty. Had he said pretty already, too? She mentioned his scars and his goofy grin returned, Taku still just nodding as she commented on his mane aswell. "Y-Y-Yeah! It's all...fluffy." he answered, bringing a paw up to fluff his mane a little, smiling sweetly. She moved closer and his first instinct was to skitter away - he was feeling all warm already, he didn't need it any worse! "Oh...cool! That's uh...awesome!"

Why did he sound so stupid? Feeling his cheeks flush pink he looked to the ground, not wanting her to see. She sat down in front of him and they only turned redder, not wanting to look up incase their noses touched. She was so close! Girls weren't supposed to get this close to him! ...Especially not pretty ones.

Her nose scrunched as he faultered over his words a bit and she wondered what was wrong. And now he wasn't even saying anything, not really! Just agreeing with her... she frowned and felt a tiny bit irritated before shaking off getting angry with him. Did all friends have boring conversations like this? Wasn't he supposed to tell her other things that had happened to him since he'd last seen her?

Her face scrunched more when she realized he wouldn't even look at her an she began to get a bit upset... maybe he was mad because she hadn't apologized for getting angry with him properly? She tilted her head, twisting her body a little to try and look at his face. "Hey, come on.. I didn't mean to get mad... I just missed you!" She stated, being rather bold. "Did I do something else wrong?" Having a friend sure was hard work.. She still didn't realize it was because of how close she was sitting, but she didn't know there was anything wrong with it. "I mean... aren't you supposed to tell me new things now?" She added, struggling to try and fix whatever was going wrong right now, because the more he continued not to look up the more awkward she was beginning to feel, and she couldn't understand the fluttering feeling of butterflies in her stomach.

He blinked, shuffling backwards a little in surprise when her face suddenly appeared, despite him looking downwards. He looked at her with wide eyes, swallowing as he blinked once, twice. Was he making her sad? Oh, no no no! He hadn't meant to do that! Tell her new things? Ohhh, but he hadn't done much, apart from spend time with his sister! Oh, he was such a loser! "I...s-s-sorry," he mumbled, cheeks bright red now, "I...haven't done much."

Might as well be honest, right? Usually he wasn't this bad - there'd been that girl with the awesome fire-tail, and he hadn't been all jellylike around her. But Kari was...different. She was really nice, as well as being really pretty. Maybe he should just...tell her? Then she'd know why he was acting all weird! He didn't want her to think he was retarded or anything! "I..." he started, but failed to continued, only turning redder, if that were possible. "You're...Y-You're really...p-pretty, you k-know?"

He was so going to fail in life.

As he shuffled back when her eyes met his, despite being in a really awkward and uncomfotably twisted position, she straightened up, Eyes darting about his red cheeks. For an instant she thought that his anger was confirmed.... but she realized those weren't really angry flushes. But... what was he embaressed about?

"Oh.." She said, sounding severely confused and a little dumb founded at the same time. Well maybe he just thought he hadn't done anything? Oh.... maybe he didn't know she'd met his sister yet! That could be something to talk ab...

Her brain suddenly felt like jelly as he told her she was pretty, even though she'd complimented herself earlier. Her own pink flushes appeared on her cheeks and she beamed at him. "O-o-o...oh." Now she felt like hiding her face. Still, it made her very good being complimented like that so even though she felt a bit embaressed she offered a big smile to him, tail flicking as she glanced around. Now that he mentioned the topic of looks she realized he had grown quite handsome, though in a different way than she found her father or brothers handsome. She wondered what sort of handsome it was then, if it wasn't that. "Y-you've grown quite.." Well, pretty wasn't the word but she almost didn't want to tell him she found him handsome. Though... maybe friends paid compliments like that? "Handsometoo." She said in a rush, and almost as soon as it was out of her mouth she decided to change the subject. "Did your twin tell you?" And though she still felt her stomach twisting in knots she also felt a bit calmer changing the subject. "We met!"

Oh, he was doing everything wrong! Things sometimes went bad...but never this bad! He was messing everything up and making her think all the wrong things. Why was he being so stupid!? She was just a girl! A very...pretty, amazing, perfect girl. How had it taken him this long to realize? Sitting down, not trusting himself to stand, he found his jaw also jellified as he opened his mouth to form words, but it failed. He looked like such a loser.

She seemed embarrassed now, and even as she paid a compliment back he just blushed deeper, although his heart gave a small leap. Did that mean she liked him too? Or was it just...as a friend? She quickly changed the subject, which made his heart sink. Maybe just as a friend, then. Still looking at the ground he shook his head a little, smiling even though she couldn't see. "She didn't. Did you like her?"

She couldn't understand why her heart was pounding so hard, it was almost as if she'd just been on one of the hunts with the group of hunters in the pride. But it was also different, because it was not the tired and proud heartbeat of a good effort but something... more than that, somehow it affected her stomach as well, as if it was sending out signals to make snakes appear inside and wiggle and wrap about her other organs in a very uncomfortable but not entirely unpleasing manner. But the feeling was being overcome with guilt as she realized he still would not look up from the ground and her change of topic had not helped one bit.

Had she done something terrible? She didn't understand! Still, he seemed to be going along with it anyhow. She shifted in her sitting position, paws kneading slightly against the earth. "Yes, she was very nice. Though.... it made me thing about you a lot.." She wasn't sure why admitting that was embarrassing either, this was all just a bit too awkward. Having a friend was hard work! "Because she looks so similar... just... without scars and... not pink.." And suddenly she giggled slightly, recalling something from when she'd first met him. "I hope maybe I can meet her again..." Though more so it was because she wanted to be around Taku. Should she tell him that?

His smile remained, although it had a certain tinge of sadness about it. Had she just been saying that to make him feel better? Yeah...maybe she hadn't meant it, but she didn't want him to feel awkward. But that just showed how caring and kind she was. She was amazing. He didn't want to loose this chance. "I could take you to her, again," he offered a little shyly, wondering how to change the subject again. He wanted to talk about the embarrassing things - he wanted to know.

"Kari..." he started, looking up a little. his cheeks were tinged pink, to match his facial markings, "...I really like you. Like...like like you."

Kari grinned happily and was just opening her maw to state that she would love for him to bring her to his sister some time and they could all have a nice time together. But then he also stated that he liked her... like liked her! She was staring at him with a very shocked look on her face and she could feel her skin growing hot as the wave of embarrassment swept over her. But much stronger than the embarrassment was that weird feeling of her heartbeat, fast and unsteady, and a very nice feeling that made her body feel very heavy and tingly all at once...

It wasn't a bad feeling, she decided. She also decided that this like liking business meant definitely more than a friend. So similar to her mother and father then? And before she could even think of what she was supposed to say to it all a very large smile had spread on her maw. "Y-y-you mean.." And she had to lean toward him a little because her voice was coming out so strangled, as if she was having a hard time speaking. "Like... more than... a friend.. right?" And she felt her face flush all over again, feeling stupid for trying to make him spell it out for her just in case it wasn't really as obvious as she thought it was.

"I think... that I feel that way.. too." She added shyly, wondering if she should ask him if he was in the weirdest, almost delightful sort of pain when he thought about her being more than a friend... maybe she should have asked her mother or Sesere about it.

Ohh...she was staring at him now, all suprised. And she looked embarrassed. Maybe he should've just...should've just never said anything. He should have just left it and ignored the weird feeling in his chest. But...it felt so strange! Like his heart was swelling up and pushing against his ribcage, beating faster and faster whenever he saw or thought about her. Right now it felt like it might practically burst out of his chest!

...Was that a smile? Glancing up with his crystal blue eyes, Taku blinked in mild surprise at the look of happiness on her face, not even responding as she leaned closer to he could hear better. his own fur was flushed red, and Takuma was frozen to the spot, unable to do anything but nod shyly in reply to her question. Yes...yes, he did mean as more than a friend. Friend was nice but...but he liked her more than that.

And suddenly, his heart returned to it's normal size, although it stopped for a moment as he held his breath She...she felt that way too!? As in...she...she liked him too? Taku gave a small, surprised growl-like sound, watching her wide-eyed for several moments before dashing forwards, nuzzling her fondly with a deep purr. "Oh...oh Mkodi, I'm so GLAD. I felt like an idiot." He was still blushing profusely, but he took a step back, smiling widely. They liked each otehr. He liked Kari, and she liked him. This...this was nice. He liked this. "I'm really....really glad. I think...I t-t-think I..."

Was it the right word? Was it too strong to use right away> But he was sure that was what it was! Closing his eyes, wincing a little as if preparing for the consequences, he babbled it all out at once, "IthinkIloveyou!"

"Eee~" She squeaked as he nuzzled into her, but her own head was rubbing back against his soft chest and giggles spilled from her jaw. Her eyes shut partly as she listened to the deep, beautiful purr coming from his and her own softer purr rang out to match. The warmth, but not the joy, was short lived though as he stepped back. She almost wanted to follow, but she knew that would be a little rude even if they had both just said they liked each other!

Her ears flicked back and she giggled, though she looked a tiny bit worried for him. "Don't ever feel like an idiot around me Taku!" And she sounded like she meant it too, because even though she had not known him for a long time she still felt like she knew him very well, and he was anything but an idiot!

Love? She stared at him, mouth slightly open from whatever she'd been about to say and she could feel her face heat up a massive amount. It seemed to take her a moment to take it all in and she suddenly did take that step forward, burying her face into the fur of her chest because she was embarrassed, but it was a good feeling of embarrassment, and her stomach twisted in a funny matter and her heart pittered spastically as a muffled "IthinkIloveyoutoo!" Rumbled from her chest.
