Boredom was a very dangerous thing in this part of the world. Not to be bored on one's own, but instead, the boredom of a particular creature, a deity, in truth, that dwelled within the confines of the lands the Aikanaro'hini called their own. Flying about the borders currently, great wings outstretched, his blue eyes were constantly scanning the ground below, looking for something of interest, or perhaps a delectable morsel to torment.
Ah, there...now what was that? Sensing movement below, he grinned, fangs flashing white in the oncoming dusk. Oh my...a wandering soul, just for him? Boredom be gone...Morifaer had found his next game. Swooping in from behind Kirabo, he flew just over him, a rush of leathery wings...before he landed several yards away, coming gracefully to a stop, forefeet touching the ground first, spiked tail twitching to and fro as an outward sign of his inner glee. Mortals were so much fun.
Kirabo hadn't a clue about the place he had wandered into. He'd smelled lion, but really...that smell was all over the place. He only got worried when he saw lion. And he hadn't, all day, so he figured he was safe. Until now, anyway. He let out a surprised gasp, ducking abruptly as the thing sailed over him, almost close enough to touch him as the action caused a slight breeze to blow the grass around him. His first thought was a bird, a large bird, perhaps, because what else could it be? The sight that met his eyes after he had recovered made his short, spotty fur stand on end. A winged lion. A horrible, huge, vicious looking winged lion. His heart began to pound as he watched the horrid thing, his mind racing. He began to back away slowly, almost frozen in place. That was it...it was a god. Or a devil. He swallowed hard, wondering if he would be able to outrun this one.
Turning slowly, Morifaer gave the other an altogether too friendly smile, dipping his head faintly in acknowledgment. "Why helloooo there, you seem as though you were quaking in your fur." He paused, eyeing one of his paws idly, "Surely there's no need for that, besides...you know I can fly faster than such as you can run, correct?" A cold, cruel fact, that, better to squash all vestiges of hope now, before it tried to run away, though that could be fun too. "My name is Morifaer, mortal, what's yours? Or shall I make one up for you?" That smile was back, showing teeth again, grinning in a manner that might have been friendly had it been on the face of anyone but the dark god.
Kirabo seemed to jump a tiny bit as the hellish creature lowered it's head to him, thrown off by the other's grin. He took another slow step back, the only thing holding him in place were the lion's comments. Of course it wasn't friendly...he was sure it's intentions were malicious, no matter how friendly its smile was. His own countenance was completely blank, though fear shone in his eyes. He couldn't imagine what had warranted this...how he could be so unlucky. What were the odds, really? "Kirabo is my name." he replied, summoning up as much courage as he could. "Is there something I can do for you, great one?" he asked carefully, taking another hesitant step backwards. Oh, how he wanted to run...
"Kirabo...how adorable." He remarked dryly, "I don't suppose you have any nicknames?" It seemed idle enough, and then, he padded closer, large paws bending the grass beneath them. "And perhaps, you see...I suffer from an ailment that a god such as I should never have. I'm bored. .So very bored..." His eyes lit up then. Oh my, it had been so long since he'd bound a mortal to himself...let's just see what this one would do if he was but a plaything for Morifaer's every whim. He looked particularly...malleable. Those eyes flaring cerulean, shadows slowly crept up about the two of them, and sometimes, hints of glowing eyes and toothy maws could be seen amidst them, seemingly trapping Kirabo in a circle of them...stuck with the demon god for so long as he desired.
"N-no...none, really." the cheetah said, stammering a little bit. He listened to the god's complaint, his fur still puffed out in barely subdued fright. "Well...sorry to hear it, but I really need to get going." he said, and then turned to run, just as the shadows were starting to seep up from the earth. A shrill snarl emitted from his throat as he tried to run through the veil, shutting his eyes tight at the frightful images that lurked in the newly formed darkness. "Please, I'm sorry!" he called out, begging desperately as he slid to a halt to open his eyes carefully, to see if the shadow was still there.
But the shadows chased him, seething about him...illusions, after all, could run as fast as the cheetah, if not faster, and almost leisurely Morifaer followed the other, smiling in that faintly smug sort of way. "Sorry for what? You're terribly apologetic. I think it's rather cute..." He purred, "Now come here, Kirabobo." He made it sound like a pet name, as though he were talking to a child. "Come here and I'll make them go away..." A beckon with one large paw, massive wings sweeping forward as though to enfold the cheetah.
He stumbled a little as he halted, swatting fearfully at the dark stuff , baffled and absolutely terrified over what was happening to him. He yelped at the sight of the glowing eyes, and the snapping jaws that surrounded him. "Did I not make you angry??" he inquired and hunched down, feeling more helpless than an abandoned cub. His ears pinned, he looked back at the god with wide, fearful eyes, having cracked enough for his features to reveal how he was really feeling. He didn't want to get any closer to the winged lion, but, feeling that he had no other choice, he turned to creep toward Morifaer, keeping low to the grass.
Looming over the cheetah now, as it was so entertaining to see him grovel, Morifaer shook his silky mane. "Oh no, little Kirabo, you did not make me angry, you simply are unfortunate enough to catch the attention of the God of Demons, my quick-footed friend...and I have not had a mortal to entertain me for oh so very long." Moving forward suddenly, quite swift for his great bulk, he went to swipe at the other with his paw, meaning to trap the cheetah beneath his claws. How very pretty a catch this one was, all those darling spots. No demon, true, and his whimpering was enough to sate Morifaer's penchant for causing misery...but oh how the god wanted to hear him scream.
Kirabo listened to the god's explanation, and murred lowly, as cats tend to do when they are incredibly upset, and backed into a corner. Why couldn't he pick on someone else? "P-please, there's no need to do this, I'd be useless to you..." he mumbled, trying to think of some weak excuse for the lion to leave him alone. He gasped, and flinched as the god drew close to him, surprised by the sudden movement, and now closer to Marifaer than ever before. He was taken off guard as the male's huge paw swung down, and he let out a shrill yowl, writhing pathetically as he found himself pinned, monstrous claws digging through fur and flesh.
"Oh stop squirming, dear, you might hurt yourself..." He purred, putting just a little more pressure on the other with that massive paw. Leaning in, his blue eyes gleamed unnaturally in the dusk. "And I've decided to pick on you, you should feel honored, little mortal, I rarely find enjoyment in things these days, a terrible pity...I think you would make an absolutely delightful pet for a while, don't you think?" To see the other panic was just wondrous...why didn't he do this more often? He'd almsot forgotten just how susceptible mortals were to his powers.
"Aaah, aah!!!" The cheetah wailed, scrabbling frantically against the grassy earth. As Mori leaned down he looked back, his own eyes wide with terror as he beheld the god's fearsome face and his own glowing eyes, absolutely frozen inside with fear. "Please, don't! I...I cannot..." he murmured, trailing off, still struggling weakly as the real seriousness of his situation began to sink in. Perhaps this was all a nightmare...a horrid dream. But the pain was so real. He could feel the monstrous claws really beginning to dig into him, and he finally lay still beneath the behemoth's paw, frightened of skewering himself. He lay there, panting raggedly, his eyes glued on the demon's face.
"Now now...that's better..." His voice a low, absolutely satisfied purr. Then, with his paw, his slowly began to draw a line in the other's shoulder with a claw...and then he simply withdrew, but the cuts continued, tracing out a mark in the other's skin all on its own. He'd landed a blow...and now, he could make the other his own until he decided to relinquish him. "Isn't this fun?"
Kirabo gasped in pain as he felt the lion's claw dig into him. He snarled desperately, and began his struggling anew, spurred by the pain. "S-stop!! Please!" he cried, close to tears. He felt Mori lift his massive paw, but somehow the slicing sensation continued, and he howled in fear and pain, blood oozing from the fresh wounds to stain his black-spotted white fur. "N-no!! It hurts..." he whimpered, the tears springing from his shaded eyes.
"Well of course it does..." He shrugged easily, and then he purred, removing his paw to nose at the other roughly. "Now get up." He rumbled, "It's time for us to go home, don't you think?" Ah, that was the beauty of the thing, that Kirabo now had no choice. Mmm...dipping his great head, he licked the blood that had dribbled from the cheetah's wound, cleaning the fur. Then, he spread his wings, banishing the shadows about them...and it was just the cheetah and the god once more.
Kirabo nearly tumbled to his side as he was nosed, feeling incredibly insignificant, as if he were a cub. He might as well have been, compared to the god's massive size. "H-home?" he stammered, peering up at Morifaer as he climbed to his feet. He nearly fell over yet again when the lion licked his wounds, giving a pained squeak as he shrunk away from the huge, rough tongue. He jerked as the shadows suddenly lifted, and was tempted to flee, skittering a few yards away, unable to resist the slim chance of freedom that presented itself to him.
"Yes. Home." He rumbled, a great grin covering his maw, revealing a set of flawless, gleaming white teeth. "And I wouldn't try that, were I you..." He pointed a claw at the mark in the other's flesh. "That binds you to me now...you obey me...you haven't a choice, Kirabo." Morifaer smirked, decidedly, deliciously pleased with himself. "Now come with me, pet...and I'll show you the lands you're to live in now."
The cheetah stood, looking off at the dinstant horizon with a sad look on his face, his rounded little ears pinned flat against his head. "How? How does that work?" he asked, slinking further away, his tail flicking in agitation as it often did when he was frightened or scared. "I don't want to go with you." he said in an oddly calm tone, figuring he'd try one more time to resist the god, all the while continuing to creep away.
Raising a paw to eye his own claws, sheathing and unsheathing them idly, he shrugged one large shoulder. "How? Well, my pet, every god is endowed with certain powers, and I have just marked you for my own...that mark? It means that you will obey me...you have no choice, really...Now come, come, Kirabo, i am not so very terrible! There are worse monsters at my very beck and call than I myself seem to be... Follow, my pet..." And with that, he waltzed away, tail flicking to and fro in great amounts of self-satisfaction.
