Dearie me. My laptop's being all gereiactric. It's CD drive has officially packed up now - no cds/dvds/programs will go in. That and it's bugged to hell (though it's been like that for over a year) and STILL won't play morrowind (although my parents computer does -haha).
oi vey.
We don't have enough time to faff around with whether to get a new laptop or a stationary computer - i go back to uni on saturday. d'oh.
So i'm putting up with it til i come back home for a friend's b-day party on oct 16th. i'm thinking of getting a stationary computer and keeping this laptop for photoshop, word and the internet.
Hopefully it'll keep together until then *crosses fingers* -haha

For morrowind. Are you sure it's your CD/DVD drive?
I know what I uninstalled Oblivion I did it wrong and it warned that if I uninstalled it I would have dificulty installing it again b/c of something. SO I had to take the folder files from another computer that it was installed on and that fixed the problem. If that may be the problem. We have morrowind here. ^_^ Maybe I can upload them and give it to you somehow?

well teh thing that happens is that it plays, shows the 'bethseda' (or whatever) sponsor, and then closes saying there was an error.
at any rate, if i end up get a static computer (whic i probably will soon XD) then i'll just install it there :3

GAH! everyone's puter is breaking! I just replace my hard drive after its SECOND meltdown, and a friend of mine has her laptop almost breaking in two.

I saw it too but I assumed it was just the computer.
I was on my mom's laptop at the time which has an outdated version of IE since it's her work laptop and she can't download anything to it, not even to upgrade the internet.
Thus a bunch of sites are kind of glitchy with it.
