They’d been given a cozy den near the lake, surrounded by rocks on one side and shaded by a young umbrella thorn tree. Enough space to start a family. Scary thought, that. But this pride seemed like it was almost meant for family. While they were at the lake they saw a large group of females lying together in a pile, enjoying the sunshine and chatting warmly amongst themselves while a group of cubs played near by. Mollie and Vu were too far away to make out any words, but the mood of the conversation carried over.
There was a sense of community in the air. It was the kind of feeling the Pridelands was supposed to instill, yet here the sense of unity seemed as strong and real as the rays of the sun. The atmosphere was surprisingly peaceful. In spite of that, it didn’t feel like home.
The rocks weren’t very high but they offered a small sense of privacy in the large pride, as well as a good place for sunning. After seeing so many large groups of lions strewn through the pride their little den seemed uncomfortably empty. It made him restless. He wondered if moving some of the smaller stones around would make him feel better as he watched them from under the thorn tree.

This area... was big and empty for two not fully grown lions. It mad her restless as well, but for different reasons. Mollie could actually see herself birthing children in this pride, in this den, even. She could see herself watching her cubs play with the others, telling them when to come in and when their father was back from... whatever it was he did. She was curled up, herself, chin resting on one of her front legs as she sprawled out on her side, obviously deep in thought.
It still unsettled her to see one male give so many females the same amount of affection. She was used to a male having one female, or even one other male, not many. Glancing at Vu, her frown deepened in concentration. Attempting to picture him give any kind of affection to anyone else made her stomach muscles knot up in jealousy. She'd just have to work at being the best in his... group. Harem, whatever the name of it was.
Contradictions abounded in her head when she thought she could see the other females as sisters. In a way she could. She grew up with many sisters, the nannies were girls. Females were just more suited to stick together than males, it would seem. A sigh escaped her as her tail thumped against the ground, kicking up dirt. She was attempting to relax now. To stop thinking and just accept everything. Though, she did really, really want to talk to another female.

Vu turned his ear to listen to Mollie’s sigh, breaking his gaze with the stones. He scooted closer to her and lay his head down on his paws beside her so that their cheeks were almost touching. Seeing all these strange males with their harems put him on edge. The thought that one of them might try to steal Mollie made his fur stand on end. He was still young, but he would be an adult soon and wasn’t about to let anyone touch her. His eyes were troubled.
He was also thinking about his father. He didn’t consider that Ghilt might have forgotten all about him by now. Instead he felt a twisting in his stomach whenever he thought about what his father would say if he found out what he was doing with his life. Imara would hate him for abandoning the Pridelands. He had put these thoughts behind him a long time ago, so he used to think. Being in a new pride, it was hard not to think about his old one.

When he moved closer, green eyes flashed to him and she gave a mental sigh. He was as troubled as she was. Tilting her head a bit, she licked at his cheek and nuzzled with a little purr, more comforting and affectionate than her usual flirting. She wanted to let him know they'd be fine in this pride one way or another. Things usually turned out for the best for both of them.
Mollie wandered into the unknown to follow him, and she'd eventually caught him. It took a lot less time than she thought it would, too.. Now it seemed as though he was beginning to understand her feelings. That in itself made Mollie feel a tad more secure. She'd seen Vu fight; knew his strength. Her head told Mollie he'd protect her, her heart screamed that he would, but there was something in her stomach that just wouldn't listen to her. "Don't you think of the past," she whispered to herself, and to him. They both needed to pull themselves out of this slump they were in. "A new pride.... We'll.... start a family. One... that we both never really had. Give them everything."

A soft purr tickled his throat. When Mollie mentioned family he almost choked on it. Vu had always felt happy with his family in the Pridelands, at least he did when he was young. His greatest worry was that he didn’t know how to be a father. He wanted to be a bigger part of his cubs’ lives than Ghilt.
“I’m not in a big rush,” he said, trying to smile. The only cubs he’d ever been around were Zito’s and he did his best to avoid those little ankle biters. Crazy cheetahs. He was silent for a moment, then he said, “Do you like it here?”

Did she like it here? Loaded question with a loaded answer behind it. Instead, she just smiled and tugged on his cheek fur saying, "I'll learn..." Which was the truth. She shifted to put her head under his and rested her chin on his legs. Mollie even went so far as to wrap her tail around his own before she heard a child laugh in the distance, causing her to smirk a bit.
It brought her back to when they were cubs. Laughing and telling stupid jokes to each other between training sessions. She missed those days. The smirk turned into a smile as she listened to his purr, which made hers echo and pick up in volume. She shifted again, her tongue coming to lick at his exposed neck, licking what she could of the scars she could see there before moving to groom the scars on his face. "What about you? You like this pride where you can get many females?"

Vu shifted awkwardly to accommodate Mollie’s nuzzling. When she started to groom his face he put one paw against her side and tugged on her ear in playful vengeance. He chuckled softly, resting his paw on her shoulder, and teased, “Why would I be happy about that?”

"You..... just seemed really interested in that," she answered through a wince. Licking her muzzle, she pushed him off of her and attempted to pin him. If successful, she'd run her head under his chin and then n** at his throat. If not successful, she'd probably be pinned by him. No big deal to the female. Either way, she'd purr and smirk at him to let him know she was playing. Maybe not completely, but if it help put him at ease, she'd half lie.

“Hey!” Vu laughed as Mollie rolled him onto his back, too tired to put up a fight or care if he was beat by a girl. He pawed at her mane and wrapped his arm around her neck. They had been boxing and pouncing on each other since they were cubs. Even though Vu was bigger he didn’t always win. Their long history together made him more comfortable with her than with any other feline he’d ever known.
“You’ll always be my favorite. Nothing will ever change that. More females just means a bigger family.” That was what he told himself. Still, he looked a little worried. “I’ll take it slow, okay? I didn’t want to bring in a bunch of strange females all at once anyway.”

The affection shown between them made her smile. Mollie was so easily pleased when it came to just showing sweet affection. Blame her for being a girl, but it made her purr even louder and chuckle. When he started to talk, Mollie just listened and nodded. She'd be his favorite. No one would take her place. That made her feel a bit more settled down; letting it show as she laid on his stomach, eyes slipping closed.
Starting slow... She could do that. Get used to another female around. That wouldn't be so hard. At least, she hoped it wouldn't. She really didn't want to be marked as anything less than the best for Vu. Or even for this pride. Mollie wanted so much more for herself. "Slow then.... That's perfect."
