Uxe had followed Hewa back to the pride without any difficulty. There was no hesitation. So far, Uxe was head strong on joining this pride. Perhaps this was the explanation for how he was. Heartless and cold. So unlike his family. His fathers complete opposite. Speech like his mother-emotions like his grandfather he never met. Perhaps, these demons-were the way to go.

He certainly hope so.

He had followed the male back to the pride and was told to wait for a king to welcome him, in this very spot. So, Uxe lay down and waited. It had been rather early when they arrived, so Hewa said it may be a while. Uxe had all the time in the world. His stomach growled but he ignored it with is almost pupiless eyes staring into the darkness. He sat with his paws tucked under his chest, his tail curling behind him. He would wait.

A hulking shape crept forth from the shadows. Rasi was quite large for a slave, but it was his refusal to fight his female captors that resulted in his being taken – not inexperience or illness. His code of ethics was the cause of his entrapment.

The young male reminded him of the prince he and his brother executed when they took over that old male’s pride, long before Ardhi exiled him into the claws of demons. The prince had been a mere juvenile when they killed the old king. Neither of them wanted to kill a cub, so they held the boy prisoner until he matured then took him away from the pride and ripped out his throat. There had been such fear in his eyes when he died. Rasi saw no such fear in the dark adolescent’s eyes.

“You seem oddly calm,” he observed, knowing full well that this adolescent would probably out rank him one day. It was plain that he was new to this pride. Even though Rasi had not met all of the members of the demon pride he knew at a glance that this youngster had to be new blood.

Uxe was deep in thought, wondering if this was going to be influential to his life to be here. Would be gain potential? Would he exceed his fathers expectations? Like he had any. He just sensed that this would bring him at least something to entertain him. He liked entertainment. Anything to get this boring dull hum in his head.

He lifted his dark head upon sighting a figure moving. Nothing to worry about most likely. Uxe knew nothing of the rankings of this pride. So as far as he knew, this was a normal member. The scars caught his eye first. Scars. Bleh. For some reason he just didn't like them. Sure, if they happened... they happened.

"Hmph." He replied to the statement. Calm wasn't the word. Serene? Placidly awaiting his demise? "Nothing to be uppity about." He said simply, his voice was cold and calculating. "Just new... shy I suppose is the word."

Rasi sneered, “Yeah, I can see that.”

He tilted his head, examining the cub’s coat with a discerning eye. Though Uxe’s coat was darker in color than Rasi, the tone was similar. There were demons in the pride with coat’s lighter than Uxe, lighter even than Rasi. Some were practically white. Rasi felt a tinge of disgust toward light coated lions in comparatively privileged positions of power. They smelt like cheaters. Probably just faking their demons to avoid being cast among the slaves.

Sometimes Rasi tried to blur the lines of rank, but only out of greed. Rarely did he get away with it. As his fear of the demons lessened he was slowly becoming better at walking among them. This was mostly because he was too tired of fear to go on feeling afraid anymore. Sometimes you get ignored, sometimes you get beaten. Either way, you remain trapped. Rasi wrinkled his nose. “So you really think you’re a demon, huh? Why?”

Uxe sat and looked at him quietly, his red eyes not moving. He was a master of not moving an inch. It had scared his sibilngs and worried his father, with good reason of course. Umo had been frightened that someday a cub would be born with the likeness or the personality of his father, ruthless and cruel. Uxe wasn't any of those but, he certainly wasn't the spring chicken that his other siblings were.

Born in sin-come on in.

Uxe wrinkled his nose at the strangers question. What did it matter to him? Demon? Is that what they called it? That inner being that talked in his head and made his skin crawl at times. That had caused his head aches and pains and made him the way he was. He sniffed. "It is the only explanation for all these things running in my head like bee's over their hive." He said, shutting his eyes and feeling the throb in his temples. 'But that is beside the point... who are you?"
