So, i'm looking at starting a furry related story. I'm not sure where to start, what characters to use and such. Would anyone have any ideas?

As for the story, it would depend on what genre you like to write. I would say brainstorm, but I know I hate brainstorming and am terrible at it.
Hmm..maybe start writing a few things and see where it takes you? You can really do anything furry related--scifi, fantasy, historical fiction, etc. And there are so many types of characters you can choose from

Make it from a 1st person point of view.
-A mob kidnapped your child, you'll do anything to get him back. -You fall in love with a cute guy, he hates you, you find out he is a total a** and end up falling for your best friend. -You are a thief, you are caught by corrupt police and are forced to steal things for them w/o pay. They threaten to harm your family if you run away.
I charge 1k per idea. Gimme gimme. lol jk =p

As a fellow writer, I know full well what you're going through 3nodding
Basically, take an idea and run with it. Just start writing. Don't worry about editing and all that stuff yet. Let the ideas flow. And to be honest, don't worry too much about characters at this point. This is just to get a basic, overall idea in mind.
If an idea comes up that you like, start working with it more in depth. Come up with characters that fit the idea well. This is the point to brainstorm them. Or, you can work the characters out first, then brainstorm ideas for a storyline that fits them, but that might be a little more difficult. Granted, that's what I usually do XD
Perspective wise, it's all up to you. Third person is fairly easy to do. First person is a bit more challenging, because you have to be careful not to directly say what another character is thinking. The focus is on the main character, and his/her thoughts and such. Though, that doesn't mean you have to skimp on everyone else's development. It's just a little trickier to show it.
Now...Second person, or 'the reader himself', is very challenging to write. In fact, I really can't recommend that for anyone. I won't even write in second perspective XD
But yeah...The first part is the brainstorming a basic story idea...I hoped that helped somewhat XD
