FAQ: What is the Pluto's Kiss Anniversary Event?
The Pluto's Kiss Anniversary Event is a one-day event being held on Thursday, December 24, 2009, celebrating the anniversary of the catastrophic event that took place before the occurance of .hack//INFECTION-QUARANTINE series (see "FAQ: What is Pluto's Kiss" below for information on the exact event).

The event itself will be held at 5 Barton 001212, the traditional event place for the Net Slum guild. During this time, each member who attends should dress as a .hack//. haracter (see Cosplay Section below) or find an alternate method to captures the essence of .hack// (see Alternative Methods below).

Although the specific events during this celebration are debateable (in the end it might just be a giant PhotoOp and involve us mulling aroudn discussing things that have happened), I am humoring the thought of an cosplay contest, depending on how many people show up. It may range from specific characters ("Best Kite"), series ("Best IMOQ Cosplay"), conditions ("Best Closet Cosplay" or "Best Offline Character"), or as a whole ("Best Overall Cosplay"). And, of course, there will be prizes (items, gold, sexual favors [J/K]).

The event may also move from time to time, considering that my house has been designed to resemble (faintly) the Hulle Granz Cathedral.

Although you may meet up in Towns at any time, the real festivities will begin around 5:00-6:00 p.m. BE THERE.

On an alternative note: If this event does not create the spark we desire, we will attempt to repeat the event on the third birthday of Gaia's Net Slum guild, which will occur on January 2, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.

FAQ: What is Pluto's Kiss?
Pluto's Kiss (冥王の口づけ) is a catastrophic event that took place on December 24, 2005. On that day, all computers connected to the Internet crashed simultaneously around the globe. Additionally, all networked computer and communication network control systems were shut down.

In the United States, the automatic retaliatory systems malfunctioned, in a short time reaching a point of crisis. 77 minutes later, the global network was able to recover itself from the incident but the resulting chaos caused the United States' nuclear defence and automated counter-strike systems to be armed.

It was later discovered that the virus creator was a ten-year-old elementary school student, living in Los Angeles, California.

The incident was so damaging that United States President, Jim Stonecold, later resigned from office in January 2006 after taking full responsibility for the incident.

Ever since then, ALTIMIT OS has been the only major operating system in the world; this is credited to its remarkable stability.

FAQ: But...I don't have that kind of gold to spend on a one-day event. Is there something else I could do?

NO. ...Just kidding. It's all right if you don't have an insane amount of gold to waste on cosplaying. There are several alternate methods for skirting around this small mishap:

1. Just purchase the hairstyle and eyestyle that you find most appropriate for a certain character.
arrow For example, if you wanted to be Endrance, but don't have the money for the Elegant Veil or Ultraviolet UpsideDown Top, just purchase the Sleek Blue Hairtyle (990 gold) and the Earnest Eyes Red (25 gold) and dress in any outfit you can put together. In the world of real-life cospaly, this is referred to as a "Closet Cosplay" because the outfit of the character come from the closet.
2. Just purchase something that makes your avatar resemble a .hack// character. This can include anything from a Head Tattoo to a Staff.
arrow For example, if you wanted to make you avatar resemble a Wavemaster, such as Elk, buy a Red Head Tattoo and a staff of some sort (Bishop's Crook, Frostbite Staff, Techno MAGE (Arc-Guider Staff), etc.) Also, if you want to preserve some of the wavemaster's appearance, purchase a gown or dress of some sort. HAY. Dresses can be manly.
3. Dress as a .hack// character's user. Usually, these people are dressed in rather plain/ordinary clothes, and are thus much less expensive.
arrow For example, Kaoru Ichinose, user of Elk and Endrance, is shown wearing only a sweater/hoodie and the Artificial Reality head-piece (can be replicated with Gaia's Plasma Gear). His hair is presumably blonde, and although his pants are not shown, I wouldn't imagine him wearing anything other than baggy jeans or pajama bottoms and being barefoot.
4. Don't buy anything and just come! Although you won't receive as much attention from the other guild member, this event should be shared with everyone. After all, .hackers weren't the only ones affected by Pluto's Kiss; EVERY computer user lost something that day.
