HUNTER'S MARK

In a time when the Empire has been taken over by a new Sith Lord, the galaxy is in a constant state of turmoil. Between Sith, Imperial, and Republican forces, there's a war to be won. And still, there is time for the Jedi to befall persecution and attack, their only allies being the now shunned Vong.

In all the commotion, there is always the neutral parties, vying for a meager existence while superpowers duke it out all around them. A bunch of credits lie in store for those who can rob, kidnap, and pirate the local spaceways, and protect, return, and escort those who they just pilfered from. In the bounty business, business is booming.

Atop all this commotion, the guilds, cartels, and other syndicates all vie for a peace of the pie. Some individuals are prolifically excellent, while others band together to make the job easier. Good or evil, all the world's choices bow before the almighty credit. It's a dirty business, but someone's got to do it.

Mission 1
Coerced Pilgrimage

As with all stories, this one has to begin somewhere. On the planet of Llanic, an imperial missionary had been all but forgotten with the upheaval of Roan Fel nearly six years earlier. In this base, there is a one Onna Keiko-Sho Cho, human who is descendant from Humbarine lineage. The target was demanded by an unknown poster, wanted alive, unharmed, and undamaged in every respect.

You begin this epic tale as a member under the leadership of an umbaran, a fairly well known bounty hunter in his own circles, but not terribly famous for much outside the guild. Your recruitment into this crew has been your own business, but the details of the missions are always sketchy at best. Twenty kilometers outside a small down called Deguello, you find yourself trekking around on foot. The planet's war-torn appearance has been recovering in the last few years, though scars still mar the various roadways and paths through the forest, where military encampments used to be a small holdout. The waning hours of daylight begin to show as you make the two kilometer hike to the most likely last known coordinates of the mark...

Lath Rosh had done a lot of things in his time, seen a lot of things in his time. But he failed to see what the company needed in him having to help the muscle bag the target.

Maybe it was because, out of the lot of them, he was the most proffesional; the most likely of all of them to make sure that the job would be done right. Or maybe the Company was just trying him out, to make sure he was able to take some legwork.

Lath didn't mind legwork. He had done it before.
But here? Not a computer terminal or security system in sight. No droids needing reprogrammed, no speeders needing to be stolen, just a long walk to find a Missionary. He felt a bit useless.

The Iridonian's eyes shifted to his surroundings (Perception check) and he fiddled with the settings of the comlink built into his currently raised Visor.

"Boss," Lath said suddenly, "You wanna tell me why we're after this guy? And why you need me for this? I ain't a tracker."

The Umbaran was less than thrilled. Dev did not like letting anyone know more than what he deemed necessary, but this was about the only choice he had at the moment. A slicer trekking through the woods was anything but natural.

"Not he, she. Human Female. Onna Keiko-Sho Cho, daughter to Soochin Cho, a planetary governor in a neighboring system. Apparantly, someone wants her extracted as quick as possible. Not surprisingly, that's about all that I learned from Rav. But, my gut tells me there's more than meets the eye. She's an imperial missionary, which makes her prime real estate for a few scenarios. Something tells me that our original poster was an Imp, Sith, or possibly even third party, though I'm not sure which.

"The reason we bring you along, Slice, is because this compound was once a military bunker. If the defenses are active, I'd be very appreciative for someone with military experience to be able to shut them down. It's out of the way, and was already hit by the Sith, but it was originally a small barracks before conflict came to the planet. Given what I know, the Imperial presence was attempting to make a hold here originally, but ultimately didn't have time before the sith came and blew the place up. This planet isn't entirely important enough to be very strategic, but our missionary's been rather popular around these parts, as she does come into town frequently.

"But, whoever posted this wanted her extrication very quietly. Meaning the less gunfire, the better. Will that suffice your curiosity?"

"I believe it was imperial, considering that our lovely bounty would probably work with stuff she was familiar with, though I'm not an expert on such details, and underground intelligence is never quite as good with the military," Dev sighed lazily.

"K" The Iridonain said. As the drew closer to the objective, Lath's steps became lighter and his movements more measured as he attempted some degree of stealth.

Aurora marched along in silence, listing to the Iridonian slicer asking question and Devs responses. Her cloak pulled tight around her athletic frame against the cool night air for her had chosen to leave her flight suit behind aboard ship. Lightsaber hilt tucked snuggly out of sight inside an inner pocket, the rest of her gear attached or hanging from her utility belt strapped around her shapely hips.

Nurak followed behind the others, careful to keep an eye on the jedi in front. It was strange working alongside a member of the order, in such a business. But Nurak was certain she had her reasons for being here.

He had his own, but unlike most sith his mind was not closed to possible benefits of working in proximity to a jedi. They were a worthy adversary for the sith, and as such demanded respect. In Nurak's view learning from an adversary or turning an adversary into an ally was a far logical course of action than simple hatred.

The other sith hated such cold calculus from him. They were all passion and no brain, no logic. Little wonder he had been forced to leave their little sect.

"If we're here to pickup a member of the imperial mission I suppose we should expect resistance from her assigned guards." Nurak fingered one of the bugs that clung to his bandoleer. "You don't have a problem dropping em, Aurora was it?"

"As long as they're within two meters, I'm sure they don't stand a chance against you two." Lath remakred as he walked on.

“Me? Have an issue about hunting down an Imp missionary?” She said, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she glanced over her shoulder at her Orders ancient enemy.

“No. Not really. Why, do you?” She asked of Nurak before turning her red gaze to Lath.

A thousand replies to the Iridonians comment raced through her mind, one of witch involved pinning him to a near-by tree with her saber, and all of them ending with her leaving a dissected body on the forest floor. Instead, she merely ignored him and continued to walk on through the wilderness.

Nurak smiled. "A lot of anger in you for a jedi. I have no problem dispatching the guards, because I doubt they have a problem shooting at us." Nurak thumbed the long-handled lightsaber that swung from his utility belt. "Focus on the task at hand, we stand to all profit from this if we do it right."
