Welcome to the Star Trek Reboot rp, based as a continuation from the recent Star Trek Film and thus the alternative universe it takes place in.

Plot
Quote:
It's the 23rd century.
After the destruction of Vulcan and the defeat of Nero, Captain Kirk and the Crew of the USS Enterprise begin their mission to seek out new life and new civilisations, however due to they being in care of the Vulcan elders (the survivors of the murdered planet), they first set out to deposit them on a federation colony in order that they can begin to record and rebuild their lost society.
However, on the way, the Enterprise comes across a vast graveyard of space ships and decide to investigate what caused the destruction. There they find a scavenger and after bringing him back to the ship discover that the Narada - Nero (the man who destroyed Vulcan) 's ship - is somehow responsible, despite its apparent destruction.
fears are heightened, as the Klingons begin to attack the federation space stations in the area...

We start the rp as the Enterprise travels towards the colony and is about to discover the graveyard.

I encourage people to take canon characters as well as their own creations - the more characters the better! biggrin

We certainly need ppl to play Nero, Kirk and Spock - and I'd love ppl to play the others too. So...yup haha
(if you want to make a character sheet for them, that's cool, but it's not necessary)

Please give it a go even if you've not watched star trek - it's basically the basis of most sci-fi, so you're bound to be familiar with some of it even in theroy wink

The Narada
The Narada was a mining vessel in service of the Romulan Star Empire in 2387. It was commanded by Nero; his second-in-command was Ayel. It was flung back in time to 2233, creating an alternate reality by destroying the USS Kelvin, and there it crippled the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire by destroying the planet Vulcan, several Starfleet ships and 47 Klingon warbirds.
Following the destruction of Romulus by a supernova in 2387, Nero took the Narada to intercept Ambassador Spock, who was attempting to create an artificial black hole which would consume the star before it destroyed more worlds. Both the Narada and Spock's ship, the Jellyfish, went missing after they were pulled into the black hole.

The Narada emerged from the black hole, 75,000 kilometers from the edge of Klingon space, in the year 2233, creating an alternate reality. There, the Narada encountered and attacked the USS Kelvin, easily overpowering the Federation starship. With no options left, Lieutenant George Kirk (now in command of the Kelvin after Nero killed its captain, Richard Robau) gave the order to abandon ship. To save the lives of those evacuating in shuttles, Kirk rammed the Kelvin into the Narada. Although the Narada sustained enough damage to ensure the safety of the Kelvin evacuees, the ship was still operational.
The Narada warps after the Jellyfish

Twenty five years later, the Narada was involved in an attack on a Klingon prison planet and the destruction of 47 Klingon warbirds. Shortly thereafter, the Jellyfish, with Spock aboard, emerged from the black hole and was immediately captured by the Narada. The Narada then left for Vulcan and drilled a hole into the planet, all the way to its core, while the crew of the USS Enterprise attempted to interfere. Unfortunately, the Starfleet crew were unable to stop Nero from injecting red matter from the Jellyfish into the core, creating a black hole which quickly consumed the planet.
The Narada is consumed by a black hole

Following Vulcan's destruction, Nero took the Narada to Earth and began drilling into that planet. However, the drilling rig was destroyed by that era's Spock using the Jellyfish, which he confiscated from the Narada. After drawing the Narada away from Earth, Spock rammed the Jellyfish into the Narada. The remaining red matter that was aboard the Jellyfish was ignited, creating a massive black hole which began to crush the ship. Kirk offered to assist the crew of the Narada, but Nero refused. Kirk then had Enterprise fire upon the Narada to ensure its destruction until the ship was pulled apart and ultimately devoured by the black hole

Araname

A small cobbled together Scavenger ship that Zepatos lives on - it doesn't look much and is certainly not built for comfort. However it has been upgraded enough that it is extremly fast and manoeuvrability both in space and terrestrially, and contains countless illegal software programs that can make it pretty smart and useful also. However it's more basic amenities - like heat and gravity - are often faulty, and the ship's AI computer is extremely basic, so most work is done manually.
While it has some defensive shielding, and holds some (also illegal for civilians) weapons, in order for these to work the power must be diverted accordingly. This is similarily the case if the ship wants to warp jump.
Zepatos is the captain and only crewmember.

Dragontamer363

[to be completed]

Name: Captain Zepatos Coralis
Race: Carluxin
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Occupation: Captain of the Scavenger ship the Araname - and all around Scavenger, smuggler and looter
Appearance: Zepatos is a relitively athletic but lithe young man with almost jet black skin and long straight jet black hair, usually tied in a plait. his eye-irises are also black. he has fanged canine teeth. On hsi skin, though one rarely sees it, down both sizes from his arms down to his legs he has black tribal tattoos. He's 5' 10'' and dresses often quite warmly due to the heating system in his shop always malfunctioning. he wears a long dark purple old-army style course wool coat with a large unbutton-able collar and thick hood with quite a few random patches and badges sewn onto it. Under it he usually wears a rusty red longsleeve top and black heavy-duty trousers with black practical boots. If it's particularly cold he'll wear some fingerless gloves and a thick-gauge scarf. he rarely goes anywhere without a couple of handguns, although they're mismatched -one is a Federation Phaser and the other is an older style gun that takes bullets.
Personality: Zepatos is lively and determined, usually fiercefully protective of his own independance. he enjoys his own company, but loves to have a laugh with a group. almost a lifetime of navigating the black market in space has given him a often canny or bold way of doing things, and he's often prone to jump without looking (so to speak) in order to get what he wants. he's an excellent pilot - and knows it - and dreams of piloting some real bigger space ships. he has a respect for the Federation, but views it as a means to get what eh wants and a source of a lot of good things to pillage. He's grown somewhat detached form death since raiding and looting wrecks genrally means he sees a heck of a lot fo dead bodies. He's a bit fo a kleptomaniac and will try to get whatever he wants. genrally he has a lively sense of humor and loves to make other people smile.
Bio: Zepatos as a child was brought up on a merchant ship that ferried between federation ports and his home planet. however on transit one day when he was 7 the ship was attacked by pirates and his family was killed. he and a couple other crewmembers managed to evacuate seperately. he landed on a space station and lived there for a year or two, getting friendly with the rouges who passed through, until he eventually convinced a group of them to take him on as crew. his enthusiasm for the workings of ships made him useful, and form day one he setabout trying to figure out how to get his own. He displayed his skills as a pilot by the time he was 10. At age 16 the captain of the small smuggling ship he was aboard decided it was his time to retire, and gave Zepatos one of the ship's small auxillary vessels The Araname as a 'pension' for him. Zepatos thankfully took it and struck out on his own, gradually modifying the ship over the years and working as a freelance - making an income form scavenging and either keeping or selling his loot. Occasionally he does smuggling runs too, since he's grown familiar with how to get around the Federation's restrictions.
Now he recently stumbled across a massive and relatively fresh ships 'graveyard' to loot.....
Strengths: Excellent abilities as a pilot, especially with manual controls that require manouverability and 'dogfights'. His race means he can see in almost pitch darkness. Knowledgeable in 2 or 3 languages. 'streetwise' with the ins and outs of the black market (and has quite a few contacts within the criminal underworld). Not a bad shot with a firearm or a ship's missiles.
Weaknesses: Not particularily strong in a brawl-fight, he's more likely to use his tongue to wriggle out of a situation. A kelptomaniac of sorts, so is likely to get in trouble for theft easily. Criminal record. Knows little about his planet and the special 'ki' skills they're renound for. Not the most tactful person - prone to be rash. can find teamwork difficult at times if it compromises his own independance. Not very disciplined and can be selfish.
Ship?/home?: The araname - a messy looking but heavily modfied vessel he loves like a child. he lives aboard it.

About Race: Carluxins are members of the Federation's Alliance, though prefer to keep to themselves, usually remaining on their home planet but for ambassadors. they are in general a deeply religious people, worshipping the deity of Fate and the universal 'ki' of all lifeforms. Skilled members of the religious orders can actually manipulate 'ki' into a kind of modern sorcery used for defensive or ritualistic purposes. Most religiously-faithful members of the race can access this if their lives are threatened, though it requires training to control it and use it without damaging themselves.
Athiests are almost entirely unheard of, and the planet is governed by the religious houses, often matriarchies.
Their planet is large and of slow rotation and has 4 periods of night for every period of daylight. Their black appearance is an evolutionary trait of camouflage due to this, and they can see in the dark as a result. Sunlight is also respected greatly, and each period of sunlight is often celebrated like a weekend.
They all have black skin and black hair, and fanged canines, though eye colour can vary. Body modification - but for ritualistic facial piercings- is frowned upon greatly. Thus none of the race are permitted to cut their hair. Hair-cutting is often a form of publish shame preceding a punishment.

Weaknesses: Dislikes Transporters
Ship?/home?: USS Enterprise/Earth

Gaia: 0Moon_Maiden0
Name: Spock
Race: Vulcan
Gender: Male
Age:
Occupation: First Officer
Appearance: Picture
Personality:
Bio:
Quote:
Spock is the son of Vulcan ambassador Sarek. and human Amanda Grayson. The relationship between Spock and Sarek often is turbulent, although rooted in an underlying respect and carefully restrained love for each other. Their falling out began when Spock declined an offer to study at the prestigious Vulcan Science Academy and instead joined Starfleet against his father's wishes.

Spock served on the USS Enterprise for eleven years under the command of Captain Christopher Pike (Jeffrey Hunter) and continues to serve aboard the ship as science officer and first officer under Captain James T. Kirk. Spock offers the captain an emotionally detached, logical perspective. The character also offers an "outsider's" perspective on "the human condition".

Strengths: Logical reasoning, Capable hand-to-hand fighter along with various Vulcan skills
Weaknesses: Tend to lack in emotional support.
Ship?/home?: USS Enterprise/Vulcan-Earth

[ok gonna start cos i'm bored :p]

Captain Kirk reclined at the helm of the Enterprise. It had been weeks since their 'ordeal', and in a way he still couldn't believe that this was his ship. It felt right, but in a way he half expected the officials to turn up and drag him off at any moment. He exhaled and looked around him.
Everyone was under his command. he couldn't help but indulge in his own ego for a little while. But he knew it was justified and a great responsibility. He woudl make this ship the greatest in the fleet.
Which was why their first mission - to transport the Vulcan Elders safely to a colony that would serve as their new home at a later date - was so vital.

His eyes drifted over to Spock. he occasionally wondered how he was doing and while he hated to admit it, he relied on him as a go-between to reflect the wishes of the elders. He sure as heck didn't understand how their culture worked. they were difficult at times.

"Status report?" he asked eventually.

"It should be 13 hours until our destination." Sulu spoke up.

"great." Kirk sighed impatiently

((lol......*thinks on how to respond*))

Spock monitored the screens. He was focused except for the quick glances to Uhura. Beside her superb xenolinguistics skills she had a calming energy about her that kept his emotions settled. She had been a great comfort after his mother's passing and the destruction of Vulcan.

--

Down in the medical bay, McCoy was finally getting a handle on ordering around so many people. Actaully it was very enjoyable until they did something stupid and he was forced to correct their mistakes.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 27, 2009 1:53 pm
Kirk sighed again, leaning forwards on his lap.
"Is there any way we can get there faster?" he asked and then pressed a button to get a comm to the engine room.

"Hey Scotty, what the status on the engines?"

#All's stable, sir. Running like a beauty.# Scotty replied cheerfully.

"Push her further, i want to get there in under 10 hours, right?" he tapped off the button and looked over at Spock. "Couldn't you have chosen a closer planet? It's not as if you're not spoiled for choice."

Spock turned and raised he left eyebrow. "This planet was the most similar to Vulcan in atmosphere and vegitation, captain," he simply replied. "Thus the most logical choice for my people."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 27, 2009 2:22 pm
"Yeah." Kirk conceded a little reluctantly. "Still in the backwoods, though. Sulu take us into warp once Scotty's boosted the engine, let's see if we can cut the time down. We don't want to keep the elders waiting."
he said.

As the crew did as ordered and the calculations were made they soon leapt into warp drive.
Once they exited it they suddenly hit a ring of debris.
"What the-?! Status report!" kirk exclaimed as sulu tried to navigate the huge ship into safety.
