I've been putting it off because my last job was in Wisconsin which doesn't allow C&C and I never really went anywhere other than school and home other than that.
But today after class I went to the WalMart to spend off a gift card. When I left I was going down a lane through the columns of cars in the parking lot when this truck cut across an empty part of the column cut me off and came real close, I hit my horn and he slammed on his brakes. I really didn't know what was going on until his cab light came on. At which point I saw his son in the passenger seat look over, terrified, and a few seconds later he rounded the back of his pickup.
He came about two inches from the window and yelled at me with his arms spread wide, "What's your problem?" Over and over again. I pointed out that he was cutting across something that he shouldn't, to avoid a stop sign I might add, and glanced back at his son who was still staring wide eyed and mouth dropped.
I stared at him and he finally turned around and went back to his truck. I didn't stay to see if he was actually getting back in his truck to drive off or to get something.
He really was going to start something in front of his son.

Get it, for all you could of known, he may have gone back to his truck to grab a bat or even a gun. People are ******** nuts when it comes to driving. I find it funny though, in Lorain County, In Ohio, my mother is in charge of giving out the concealed carry permits.

In retrospect, there was a good opportunity to cause him hurt. When he was 2" away from the window I could have swung the door open hard and drove off. Also, could have backed up and waited for him to start going and get his plate. But yeah, he could have been going for a weapon.

Not getting it because you "only go to work or home" isn't really a reason, to me. I mean, you probably go to corner stores, the market, video rental places, gun shopa, etc. too. And bad things can happen anywhere, which is the point of CCW.
I plan to buy my CCW pistol on my 21st birthday, train with it a while, then apply for my CCW license.

I've got three guns I want to buy in the same short period of time, and I can't justify buying more than one, if that. I'm torn between the one I think I should have (AR-24), the one I really want (Rem 870), and the one I promised my girlfriend I'd buy her (Mossberg 44). gonk

I turn 21 in August, but I still need a job to get a gun with more punch than a .22. Once I get the money for it I plan to get my CCL.

Once I turn 21, I'm going to grab myself a compact .45, train on it until I'm comfortable and familiar with it, then go out and get the CCL. I remember my mom saying something about the deputy or someone saying that with the number of cops being taken off the street, he wouldn't hesitate to give one out to a person who qualified for it.

I actually almost got hit by a driver doing something like that today. To get out of my school parking lot you have to take a right at a stop sign that leads onto a longer road that leads out to the main road. Well i am heading on my way to the stop sign, and this old broad in a mini van comes barreling through, doesn't really turn at all, she cuts the entire corner, her left tires passed the spot my right tire is at the stop sign, and she cut it at such an extreme angle i am still twenty yards from the stop sign and she still only missed me by like a foot.

I once got forced into oncoming traffic by a tow truck about a year ago. Got him back though. ******** had his company's phone number vinyl'd on the back of his truck cab. Called the number and reported his a** to the company owner.

You'll only kick yourself later if you don't. As for your girlfriend, if you've got a girl that's into guns, then no one here's going to berate you for buying her one. wink

At that point, I could buy the AR-24 I've been wanting, and I feel I should have it for CCW, but I still want the 870 more. And then there's the promise I made years ago... I know she wouldn't belittle me for breaking it, but I MADE IT... I'd feel better if I thought I could get her to shoot either of the other two, but she felt like she was getting knocked around shooting skeet with a 20-gauge semi, and she doesn't do pistols, so...

I keep forgetting how recoil works but doesn't a larger cartridge in a smaller gun make the recoil worse? Also a compact .45 seems like it would have a very low capacity.

My mom has a Star PD... compact .45 Auto. 6+1, and the worst recoil I've ever felt in a gun. I mean, comparing to two magnum revolver calibers, a 1911, several Glocks... the thing's ******** brutal. I can deal, and I can deal decently well, but... it kicks. It's also a jam-o-matic, but that's because the Star PD was a sub-par 1911-esque design. Real nice gun to learn your tap-rack-bang on.

Hey speaking of .45 the .45 APC isn't magnum is it? On Resident Evil 4 the box of .45 magnum ammo said .45 APC in small print and I heard somewhere else in the forums that it was supposedly a magnum.
