I'm obviously new here and I haven't posted at all yet, so this is my first post here ever! How exciting, right? A little of my writing past: I've been writing since I was 11 and I've improved quite a bit. I've written over 500 poems and at least 20 short stories. If I get the time, I might clean them up a bit and post them, I guess it all depends on your reactions to my style of writing.

So, without further ado, I give you a poem.

High Heels and Heartbreak

She put the pearls around her neck,
the lipstick smudging off her little lip.
Smiling she put on her mother's high
heels and walked down the street
with such confidence.

And soon I saw her legs grow out,
her pearls turn to diamonds and lipstick
put on with expert hands. She walked
with her own high heels now, down the
street with such confidence.

The skirt a little higher, the waist a
little low, she held her heart still on her
sleeve. Her dreams were hanging from
her neck as her hopes were tied up
in her hair.

I watched as she clicked on, walking
all over this heart I had sprinkled so
knowingly in front of her.

And yet she's still the little girl
walking down the sidewalk, dressed
in her mother's wear.

Oh little girl, don't you realize you're
breaking my heart?

I'm just the boy
down the street waiting to hear you
click by my house.

Hey Hon, you used quite a few cliches, but, other than that, I really liked it. ^.^

I don't quite understand the meter of it; is there suppose to be any rythm? Or does one just read it through as though it were prose?

Cliche yet cute.

No metre. Just free verse and all that jazz.

Cute poem. I've also been writing since I was eleven, and yeah, my poetry sucks. I'm more a lets-write-a-novel-that-I'll-begin-but-never-finish person. Since, my poetry is lacking in many areas, I give props to anyone who cant write good poetry. This poem shows a lot of honesty, and it has a few cliches, but I've never had anything against cliche phrases.

I like it. No rhythm is needed in poetry, dummies! And, sure, cliches are present. But cliches are what add flaire to today's dull world. Well, not completely, but still...

If you people honestly believe every poem is about rhythm, you do not know anything about poetry. Poetry comes from that void within you often referred to as your heart. If you can't respect this, don't go near poetry.

I loved it; I thought it was darling. Heh. Darling. I have never used that word. It makes me sound... old. o.o'

Nonetheless, I think it could be one of those songs where there's an upkept tempo, and the main instrument is an acoustic guitar. I dunno why. I just keep thinking of that one song. But I don't remember that song, so excuse my ramblings. <3
