Old Magic. The most powerful magic that can ever be wielded. It is rare in modern times now, all the Old Magic users have died off and left behind no heirs to their powers. A local occultist and New Age items vendor however, IS an Old Magic user and is widely known as a witch. In a small mountain town, difference is looked down upon. The old witch's name is Jillian and she has a granddaughter named Annabelle, Anna for short. Anna has inherited some of the magic skills as well but nothing so dramatic and powerful as Old Magic.
One day at school, a school that shuns Anna and her friend; calling them the Scary Faces....a new boy comes to town. He has horrible luck and is very clumsy but attractive nontheless. The town's self-proclaimed social elite, Tawny immediately sets her sights on him of course and now he is untouchable by any one else. In a science class one day, Anna experiences a big change in the weather, a tornado hits the school after a bully had picked on the new boy. The new boy wasn't very good at controlling his temper and so a storm followed. Could the boy be an Old Magic wielder? No normal witch or wizard is able to control the weather and so Anna suspects him of being a user. She confronts him and inevitably scares him away for awhile with her mumbles of magic and sorcery. When he shuns her, it stings most. Anna is used to being shunned so it shouldn't matter right? Was she falling for him as well?
When his family is stricken with bad luck; his father loses his mobility, his mother loses all her jobs and his brother nearly gets swept away by a rushing river...he starts to believe in the Old Magic though he doesn't think he is a user. He goes to find Anna but she is reluctant to help him in that she still feels hurt from his ignoring her.
"The only way to be rid of your curse is to kill the caster...."
Problem is that the caster lives about one thousand years in the past. Can combined magics send them to the past where the New Boy must confront his biggest enemy? And what happens there when the enemy, the original caster falls in love with Anna who has fallen for the New Boy....who regrets falling for Anna in turn because it would jeopardize his social status in the real world? Who knows, all that can be said is that Old Magic....is powerful magic.

Annabelle, or Anna rather, woke up on a completely normal Monday morning. Her grandmother Judith had already gone outside into the mountains in their backyard to gather some odd looking herb that she hadn't already known about for a moon praise ritual they had planned for that night. Other than that, there wasn't much going on. Anna got up out of bed and checked the digital clock that rested on her bedside table. It had read 5:45, thirty minutes before she was really supposed to wake up. Anna reached over and shut off the alarm clock and padded over to her bathroom. She and her grandmother lived on the second story to her grandmother's New Age shop. It mostly drew in the tourists that visited the area but some of the locals checked it out every once and awhile as well, it was stocked with odd gems and stones that were supposed to alter one's aura and had charms that could possibly get you that dream boy you've always wanted. Being a witch, Anna believed in all of it, though the people at school found her a freak for believing in such madness. The only person who didn't automatically write her off was a girl named Laura who stuck by Anna like glue. They were inseparable, partially due to the fact that the two of them were stuck in the "Scary Face" so called group at school which only consisted of the two of them. Anna didn't mind the social outcast-ness that was forced upon her. If people didn't believe in what she did then that was just too bad for them, they really missed out.
Anna looked at her reflection in the bathroom mirror and frowned, her skin was a very pale, almost porcelain color due to the lack of light up so high in the mountains. They were almost always covered by the thick clouds high up and sun rarely penetrated its forces. Her wavy brown hair reached down passed her shoulders and was styled very plainly. To a passerby, she was just another face in the crowd. A closer look showed that with her pale skin and normal brown colored hair, the only thing that made her stand out were her oddly colored eyes. That was about it for Annabelle.
She got dressed for school, donning a pair of jeans and a white teeshirt, it wasn't too cold to her so she took a light hoodie and poked her head outside after she'd gotten her satchel and books. Judith wasn't anywhere to be found. Anna sighed, blowing the air upwards so that her bangs fluttered. Looks like she'd have to make breakfast for the both of them. Truth be told that Judith wouldn't eat unless Anna cooked because even though Judith was an Old Magic wielder, she couldn't cook to save her life. Anna prepared simple eggs and pieces of toast for her and her grandmother. Anna scarfed down her plate and washed it before heading down her steep driveway to the main road. Anna lived higher up than anyone else in the small town, that added to her mysteriousness and detached personality. She wasn't a big social butterfly but she'd talk if she had the chance to.
Anna walked to school everyday, working up her leg muscles for whenever she'd need them. They were a shapely tone and weren't stick skinny like other girls but that was just disgusting. She could snap them with a finger if she felt like it. To speed things up, Anna casted a little spell on herself secretly, she looked around first to make sure Judith didn't have a spy or anything watching over her. When the coast was clear, she casted it. It wasn't like Judith was extremely strict on her use of magic, she just didn't want Anna taking it overboard. So a few minor spells here and there didn't hurt.
Anna had made it to school and walked on campus. Immediately eyes shifted her way and they started mumbling about something that she didn't really care to hear. She just kept walking until she reached her locker to put her books away. Anna couldn't help but catch some of the conversations along the way. Apparently there was going to be a new boy at school. Her heart stopped suddenly at the thought and started again, so...they'd get a shipment of fresh meat hm? Well the school b***h would probably get her fingers on him sooner or later. Anna dismissed the whole thought and made her way to the science building to get to Biology. It was the first class of the day....and frankly her favorite. Biology was almost like combining spells at home which she was VERY good at. The bell rang and everyone made their way into class, Laura sat behind Anna and gave her a big smile, which Anna returned. They could speak to each other through their minds...not like a friend, buddy buddy type of way. They could literally talk through their minds.
Did you hear about the new boy? Anna asked. Laura nodded and looked over at the Popular table...or so they called it. They were all B or C students anyway so Anna didn't really see why it was so great sitting at that table. All they talked about were parties and clothes...make up and boys. All superficial stuff. Anna rolled her eyes, though she couldn't help but wonder what went on at those parties. It would be good research fodder if she went but she would have to be invited and that would NEVER happen...inviting Scary Face was completely out of the question, if you want your reputation out there to compete with Tawny, Queen of the Bitches and Skanks. Anna shuddered just thinking about that horrible girl and cracked open her Biology book. It smelled of old paper and moisture, which was probably due to the high dew point in the mountain climate. She kept looking up however, expecting the new boy to walk in any minute. She wanted to check this guy out, see if there was anything worthwhile with him.
Fresh meat Laura...if Tawny doesn't get him, I call dibs. Anna turned her head partially to give Laura a profile view of her, she cracked a wry smile and saw Laura wink.
It's on.

Johnny was tired. He had fallen asleep the night before at exactly 2:32 am. His mother was in the kitchen, his father already off to work by the time he got up at around 5:50 am. He knew he had to be awake early. His parents wouldn't approve of him waking up any later then six o'clock. It was just always the way it worked. He could hear his brother in the bathroom flushing the toilet and turning on the tap. He could hear the running water going down the drain. It made him want to go in there and turn it off knowing how his brother always left it on while in there constantly for the fact that he didn't believe in global warming or fresh water depletions. It was his way of sticking it to the man he guessed.
Johnny had decided at that moment to get out of bed. He was still getting the new house since he had just moved in there a day or two ago. there were boxes sprawled everywhere in his room. They never really marked the boxes so he always had such trouble trying to find anything. He opened up one box. Childhood toys. He shook his head and went to the box next to it. Office supplies. He sighed untrumphantly and went to the box a few inches from that. Finally, his clothes. He emptied the box onto the floor. He knew his parents would not be happy about him for that but he decided he would just clean it later. He found a pair of skinny jeans, a band t-shirt and a hoodie. He closed his door, pulled off his pajamas and changed into the outfit he had picked.
Johnny opened the door and walked into the hallway. He saw his brother, Erick, there. His brother was two years older then him but acted like 4 year old. He was beyond immature and would do anything for a laugh or to try to "impress" somebody. Erick stuck his tongue out and flicked Johnny's nose. Johnny gave a sarcastic look then went into the bathroom, making his hair look as perfect as he possibly could. It still looked like s**t but at least it suited his face.
Johnny walked down his stairs into the kitchen. He saw his mother Tatiana cooking breakfast. Although his mother was a wonderful cook he didn't much like the way the food looked, especially at breakfast time when he had the weakest stomach. "Mom, what is that?" He asked caustiously as if afraid to ask. His mother gave him a sweet smile and looked over at him, pinching his cheeks. "Well darling, we got your eggs, bacon, and sausage." Johnny looked horribly surprised. "Mom that looks...interesting." She didn't respond she just nodded and took out a plate. "Oh no thanks, I think I'm just going to head to school, see if I can meet anybody so I'm not completely alone." His mother nodded and kissed his forehead.
Johnny didn't bother saying goodbye, he knew the message was there somewhere. He grabbed his bag and threw it over his shoulder as he walked outside. The sun was just in the sky and much too bright for him. He put on a pair of sunglasses and walked down the driveway. He didn't live too far away from his new school, just far enough to walk. The sidewalk looked long, much farther then he would dare to walk. He put a faint smile on his face as walked down it slowly and surely until he had reached the school.
All eyes were on him. He looked around awkwardly. He had always hated being the new kid. He had been the new kid numorous times and knew how awkward and weird it always was to make friends. A guy came up to him first, Introduced himself as Issac Jones. "I think we shall be friends." He said. Johnny didn't look too convinced by the guy who looked like he could easily beat him to a pulp. Johnny smiled and tried to walk off. Issac put his foot out and tripped him. "Oh I'm so sorry new kid."
Johnny just got up and continued on his trek. He went to the office first to find some sort of scheduale and such. He thankd the woman behind the desk who had given him a map of the school and where his locker was. He went straight to it and started to organize. He could see a group of girls next to him, giggling about something, looking at him. He just shrugged it off and went to his first class of the day, Biology.
Johnny walked into the classroom. He hated being late but he knew it would just be best to go to the class. He walked in, the teacher assigned him a seat and a textbook. He sat back and closed his eyes, not sleeping, but not fully awake either. As if he was only half-alive.

Anna kept her eyes forward until she saw the new boy walk into class. She knew he was the new boy because she had never seen him before in her entire life. He was pretty handsome and easy to look at, a little dark compared to the other people at school who were a lot of shades lighter than he was in the hair but all in all he looked relatively normal…that meant that she couldn’t even talk to him. It was against all social laws for Anna to talk to anyone other than her best friend because the pair were social outcasts. She hated that rule and wanted nothing more than for it to end but she knew it wouldn’t. It was impossible for life to suddenly become fair in the middle of high school. It was a shame really, she knew that she was something different to the rest of them but that didn’t mean that she was supposed to be some sort of lepper.
Anna decided to take in a huge breath and do what she did best, prod. Not physically of course, Anna was beyond that sort of thing. She was capable of prodding into the minds of whoever she wished and see their thoughts and true emotions. The new boy was a little nervous seeing as it was his first day and all which was understandable. He also didn’t want to be there and the school-wide bully wasn’t helping much either. She frowned, no one liked the bully type but no one could say anything seeing as how they had no power over him. Anna took pity on the new boy and stood up out of her seat and stood behind the bigger boy.
“Why don’t you go pick on someone of your own intelligence and leave us more cerebral folk alone hm?” Anna cooed, her strangely colored eyes trained onto the bigger boy’s. He merely winked at her and gestured a vulgar gesture in her direction. Her mouth dropped open in disbelief but she let it slide. Her gaze wandered to the new boy and she gave him a sort of shy smile, hoping her usually pale cheeks didn’t show any coloration.
“I’m sorry about that….he’s not exactly the smartest guy around here.” Anna chuckled. “I’m Anna by the way…not that knowing me will help you any if you were wanting to be popular around here.” Anna wondered which direction the new boy would go. Would he try to get into the social graces of the Populars or would he just try and squeak by high school and not be noticed. By Anna's eye which wasn't unlike the normal human eye, she could already see girls eyeing him as if he were their next prey. Her eyebrows lifted out of curiosity. Anna would never be like that, it was hard enough being the new kid without being eyed like a piece of meat. Another glance however from up close revealed that the new student was...better looking than she originally thought. He seemed innocent enough and smelled of laundry detergent and some sort of light cologne. Anna's eyes quickly skimmed over his appearance and stopped abruptly at his lips. She found herself wondering what it would be like to kiss him....well, to kiss anyone at all in that case. Was it as spectacular as everyone hyped it up to be? Anna shook her head to snap herself back into reality and shot the new boy another smile, how long had she been looking at him?

Anna was taken aback when the new boy had stood up for her against the idiotic bully. No one did that for her ever, most people just turned the other cheek and left it alone but he had stood up on her behalf. That brought a wide, dazzling smile to her lips that seemed to reach her eyes as well. His name was Johnny. Somehow the name suited him though Anna had never understood that, names matching the people they were given too. On occasion some people had said that Anna didn't look like an Anna, more like a Rachelle though that was just some fictitious nonsense that she didn't need to hear. And another thing....he wasn't looking for popularity? Now THAT was a change of pace that she very much liked in a guy. Her smile grew, if it were possible, and she noticed him looking at her, a faint blush colored her pale cheeks.
"Being the new kid can't be that bad can it? I mean, you get to start fresh in a different place and make a name for yourself all your own. Now THAT'S something I'd definitely be into...life here sucks." Anna said bluntly, it was true anyway, for her and her friend life sucked at school. After a few years however, Anna stopped caring much at all and just went through the motions of school, not really getting into it until later on.
Anna noticed Johnny looking at the predator-like girls eyeing him and she stifled a giggle, they were making it extremely obvious that they were looking, there was no hiding it there and that was the saddest thing of all in her mind. When the professor walked into class, Anna's eyes flicked in his direction and she contemplated casting a charm on him that would make him turn around and walk back out of class as if he had nothing to do there. She though better of it though, knowing her grandmother would give her hell for casting spells on an authority figure. Anna looked back at Johnny and gave him a reassuring smile.
"Things aren't as bad as it seems Johnny," Anna told him, savoring the taste of his name on her tongue. "It'll get better, I'm sure of it." And with that, Anna walked off back to her seat, getting a waggling eyebrow raise from her friend Laura. Anna winked at her good friend and sat down, sitting straight and listening to the teacher begin to drone on about the day's lesson plan.
He doesn't want to be popular and he's amazingly cute. Oh my god... Anna's voice in her head portrayed emotions that she would never allow herself to display outright.
And he was definitely checking you out. Laura chimed in with her own thoughts that left Anna's cheeks blazing with warmth. Had he really been looking at her?
