A boy walked down the side of the road. He was enjoying what seemed to be the warmest day of the year. He grinned from ear to ear as he hopped over a puddle of melted ice. A slight breeze waved over his face cooling him slightly. He noticed that a few blocks down from where he was walking, the trees swished backwards. The boy smiled again as he prepared for a nice cool breeze. As he did so he closed his eyes. The trees that had been blowing slightly suddenly froze solid, their branches forming ice shards extending to the ground. A man covered in a black trench coat appeared, walking just over the hill... towards the boy. His hands where solid black, almost as if he was wearing gloves, his hair was hanging off of his head like dreadlocks but was as stiff as steal, and his every step iced the ground. The boy opened his eyes when he noticed that the wind had not reached him. His eyes widened as he tried to take in the scene. What was a beautiful summer day on 43rd street was now an icy wasteland. His face turned to horror as he saw the man walking his direction. The icy being stopped as he came to the paralyzed child, standing only five feet away. The boy felt his skin start to frost over, his shoes where frozen to ground, and his voice seemed to be lost. He tried to scream but was unable to. He couldn't figure out if it was his fear or the sudden freezing temperature that had done it. The man raised his head. His eyes were a solid blue, his face covered in a steal mask. He took a couple steps forward kneeling in front of the child. "Don't be afraid. It's already over." He reached out and touched him. The boy’s body froze solid; his skin blackened, then without warning, the child cracked, and fell to the ground in pieces. The man stood up and walked off.

Umbron had heard that there would be a meeting with all the leaders of the shadow project there that day. He had went in the right room hours earlier than it was supposed to start because he knew they would set up an alarm system that even picked up shadows. Sure enough, about an hour before the scheduled meeting time the shadow detectors were put in place. About half an hour after that, the five generals filed in along with Commander Joffier. Even he had trouble not snapping to salute when the commander walked in. "I've found the supers, generals" Joffier said to them. "Supers don't exist!" One of them exclaimed. "They are a myth!" another shouted while pounding his fist, buckling the table. "We have told you a million times, and a billion after that, that Metahumanoids DO! NOT! EXIST!!!" Joffier laughed. "Of course they do. They've been right under our noses the whole time." "Than why couldn't we find them?" "Because your upper lips smell too much like rotting cheese and under-ripe wine." "Excuse me!" the general who buckled the table stood up abruptly. "You dare to attack a higher ranking officer?" Joffier splayfully dangled the threat in front of him. The general took his seat again, and another of the generals ridiculed, "Than where are your precious legends hiding?" Joffier smiled as only the French can. "Vancouver." He let that sink into their minds a moment and than stated his proposal, "I think we should can the Shadow Project and invest our time and money into obtaining the support of the most crafty of these, umm... I believe the term you favored was, Metahumans? Supers? Anyway. They go by the aliases of Reaper, Reflect, Sol, and Static Shock. Once we have their favor the others will follow." "Than what shall we do with your waste of money shadows?" one of the generals asked with the air of already knowing the answer. "Flush the project. Destroy the evidence." "You mean..." "Yes. Execute the shadows" "The hell with that! I'm gettin' out of here!" The shadow shouted as he fled out the door, setting off the alarm. He heard the shouts behind him as the glass bubble, meant to contain the unsuspecting shadow, sealed to the floor closing down on the quickest of the generals. Even more shouting erupted as the soldiers rushed to help, but were ordered to capture the shadow instead. The shadow reached the outer door, being left open in all the confusion, and sped out into the unforgiving, icy wasteland. "After signing up with the French army for action, like they do anything but retreat, after signing up for the experimental group in Canada, after signing up for the classified Shadow Project, they just want to off me like day old escargot?! All because of these damned Supers! I'll kill them! I'll kill them all! Especially this Reaper, Reflect, Sol, and Static Shock. They planned this. They're working with the military to kill me," he paused to laugh a crazed cackle," Reflect! That's funny. Maybe I should smash his face in with a mirror. Reaper, a death wannabe huh? I'll find a nice scythe for him to take to see his idol. I know, I should toss this Sol into a blazing inferno and see how he likes the miniture sun. And Static Shock. um... I'll... knock... yes! I'll knock his lights out. Supers beware, you're in for a scare." With that, he headed off to find his new archrivals.

Sid had been standing in front of the HQ all morning waiting for the new intern to arrive. Finally, he saw him. The cold emotionless figure had stepped around the corner, not seeming to notice, or even care, that Re-flect was just a few yards in front of him.
Frostbite stared at the building that towered above him. This... this was the source of heat he had been following for months. He continued to stare until Re-flect's voice was heard.
"Hey." Sid started, trying to keep his teeth from chattering from the blistering cold emitted by the young man. "This 'is' the place you are looking for, there is no doubt about that. The question I have for you is: Are you going to come in?"
Frosbite glared at Re-flect, cocking his head slowly, then nodding. "I will come in," he said, barely changing his dead-like tone, "but are you sure you can survive if i do?" He was not worried about Re-flect at all, he was simply giving a warning.
Sid smiled widely. "Oh yes. I am very sure. You see, this facility is made for people like you and me... Frostbite."
The frozen man didn't even blink. He simply began to walk forward into the building before stopping suddenly. "You know my name. Therefore it is required that I know yours."
"You may call me Re-flect." Sid stated, his whole body shivering uncontrollably.
