It had been about a week since her Jua had begun 'doing it' with her and.. well.. She was beginning to get bored. It was fun in the beginning, but, rather than waiting for him to return for another go at getting their cubs, she instead went out to find something fun and new...
She hadn't had to go far t all from her den. Actually, she'd ended up on top of the rocky surface, tail hanging down over the edge in view of the entrance to the cave, flicking slowly back and forth as she hummed out a song to herself. Between her paws was the thing that had so taken her interest for the moment. A mid-sized, white and yellow-feathered avian.... A very much dead avian.
She seemed to be grooming it as she hummed to the little carcass, jade eyes lit up happily. " Who's a pretty bird, then? Do you want the seed? Yes? " The 'seed', which seemed to be a small rock actually, was being offered with one paw as she pressed it into the limp, partially open beak. " Mummy's pretty birdy... Eats it all down or no nummy deserts. "

Jua whistled as he walked, for unlike Yu, he was in a good mood. He had a mate, and she was excellent. Crazy, but utterly fantastic. But crazy. Still, she seemed to be getting a little miffed that they had been going at it for so long and hadn't actually produced yet. But they were working on it. And he was having plenty of fun trying to have kids anyway, so did it really matter, did it? She wanted them more than he did.
Whatever.
He looked up slowly, catching sight of his mate seated above the den. He grinned a little, leaping up towards her and stretching out, "Hey there my dear pet. What are you doing today?" He asked, leaning over her shoulder and spotting the dead bird. The dead bird.
"...Yu, pet, why are you trying to feed the nice bird rocks?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. He knew that his pet was a little bit... well, odd to say the least, but she was past midnight on the crazy clock this time. Again.

" You've been a very bad daddy. " She replied to him easily as she pressed the rock into the bird's throat. " You didn't bring my meal yesterday. Or today. " She hummed out, picking up another rock, though, this one she put into her own mouth. " So Mr. Smelly and I share a dinner of seeds. Would you like a seed, my Jua? They're a bit gritty. "
She hummed again after swallowing the rock, folding the birds wings in to prop it up as it it were resting on the ground, patting it's head with a small paw. " It's time for your nap now, yes. Mind what mummy says. " She soothed, before she gor up to her paws, looking to Jua with an easy smile.
" We can go somewhere today, yes my lovely? I am tired of these walls. Take me out? "

"Bad? Of course not my love." Jua smiled at her, nuzzling into her shoulder, "I was about to suggest that you and I go and do a little hunting of our own dear. You should learn how to do it princess... become a deadly lady of the hunt, don't you think?"
He sighed a little, looking down at the bird, "Yu, the bird is dead. You fed it rocks and you left it around and it died. Just like the one before that. If you're going to take care of a bird, you have to feed it real food... and not rocks either pet."
He hated to point that much out to her, because she was bound to get upset... but he would never be able to get her a bird if she kept on feeding them rocks. They were just going to die right away, and then he was going to get pelted by angry flying fiends, and she would only get more upset... and it just ended in badness really.

A pout was quick to come to her lips at his words, peering down at the bird for a long moment, before slowly looking up to him, the pout still on her lips. Slowly, she rose up to her paws, moving to turn around and push herself off the tops of the den to land easily on the ground below. Tilting her head, she peered back up to him with a slight glare.
" Come, my Jua, and teach me the hunt. Mummy kill things to take care of her pets... " Upset? Yes, of course she was upset. Since he'd just insulted her ability to take care of her things. Naturally, the thought never even crossed her mind that he was, of course, right. No, no. She was more in the mind of 'fine, we'll try it your way and you can sleep outside tonight'.
Not even waiting for his reply, she began to move off out into the desert in search of something killable, eying some lions passing nearby. Stopping, and sitting to allow him to catch up to her, she peered up to Jua curiously. " Are lions meat? "

Jua sighed, watching her pout, "I'm sorry pet, I didn't mean to upset you. I just want you to be able to take good care of your little birds and our little cubs when they come, don't you think?" He asked her, meaning it. He just wanted her to be happy, that was all he had ever wanted actually.
"Don't worry my sweet heart." He promised, nodding over his shoulder for her to follow him as he walked down the side of the rocks, grinning widely as he went, hoping his ease would put her at rest as well.
"And yeah, lions can be meat. Wouldn't recommend eating anyone from the pride though, it'll get you in a lot of trouble, especially considering you were born in the Safi..." And he would hate for anyone to take out some of their misplaced anger on Yu. Or, he supposed, well placed anger if she tried to kill someone and eat them.
That was bound to cause a lot of problems, one way or the other. "Come my darling, we'll find you something a lot more tender."

She hummed out a soft tune, her cheerful, if not spacey, demeanor quick to return as she absorbed his words... Or... Seemed to absorb them, at the least, walking along close to the males side as he lead her out in search of something more tasty than the local lions.
Her growing anger and offense at his earlier words was long forgotten already as she focused on the task at hand. Her Jua was going to teach her how to hunt. And when she could hunt, she could feed her pets...
Then it was simply a matter of making them. Which would be 'fun' according to her Jua, though, she didn't quite understand it. Still, she trusted her mate without hesitation.
Bringing her mind back, with some difficulty, to what they were doing, she began shifting her green eyes to look across the sands ahead of them for any movement. Movement men beasties. And beasties were food.

Jua grinned, quite pleased as he trotted along beside his mate. Things were so much clearer now that they were together, and actually clearly together instead of just wandering about with no idea what was going on. Well, Yu had always seemed to know what was happening, but she was the only one between the two of them who seemed to follow that pattern.
But this would be fun. Showing her once and for all that she could be a powerful huntress on top of everything else that was so great about her. Well, except he was going to have to make sure she didn't run around trying to eat other members of the pride. That was bound to get one, or possibly both, of them in trouble. After all, he wouldn't let anything happen to Yu. Not now, not ever. She was his girl, no one else's.
"Okay, so first we've gotta hunt down some prey. We'll start with something a little on the easy side, alright? That way we'll be sure to get something fun." Jua said, his mood improving when he thought about slaughtering something and tearing it limb from limb.
"We'll check for some tracks... maybe use our noses and get some pleasent scents... and there will be plenty for us. Some tasty, tasty meat we can have... a romantic meal, for you and I." He grinned, stretching out, completely satisfied with this arrangement.

" Tasty, tasty. " She repeated as a form of agreement with his words as they moved along through the sand, head slightly tilted in thought. Check for tracks... No.. She saw no little critter tracks in the sand yet...
Use their noses..? He meant for her to sniff then! Sniffing she could do. Leaning her body down, the girl stuck her nose close to the dirt to begin sniffing around in a canine-manner to attempt to pick up anything. " ... Jua... I smell sand. " She said with a pout, lifting her head back up to him. " Sand isn't very tasty... Though I think it is edible. "

Jua paused, turning and staring at her a moment, "Love, please don't try and eat the sand... it isn't good for you, and it gets all gunky if you mix it with spit so... just... don't." He hoped she wouldn't, but with Yu you could never exactly be sure what she was going to do.
"We have to get a little further away love, there won't be any animals this close." He did his best to explain, though he wasn't sure how well she'd understand what he was trying to explain to her. She rarely did.
"No one wants to be around this many lions if they aren't one, so we'll simply have to locate some, don't you think?" He grinned, nudging her lovingly... away from the pride and towards some more plausible food-sources.

A slight scowl passed over her lips, but, as asked, she drew her head away from the sand and her possible anger was gone as quickly as it came. There was a smile on her lips now at the thought of moving further out from the pride, seeing new things, minding tasty meats. She understood, really she did. To the extent that she wanted to, at the very least.
At the nudge, she pressed back close to him, brushing against his side with a deep purr as she nuzzled and nipped, giving his ear a light tug. " And after hunts, you'll make me a mummy, so we can have little pets? Just me and my Jua and babies? " She purred out, before brushing past him to trot on ahead, giving his nose a flick with her tail as she went by.

Jua grinned, pleased when she stopped being angry and relaxed again. He liked it a lot better when she was in an agreeable mood. Which didn't happen very often, because she tended to be very erratic about choices like this. But she was crazy, so he usually made a point to try and let it go.
"After we have something to eat love, I'll make you a happy mother if that's what you want from me. That'll be fun, don't you think?" If she didn't eat the children anyway. He certainly hoped she wasn't planning on eating the children. Well, it would be tempting if they were disobediant little shits maybe... but she might just do it because she was bored. He'd just have to keep an eye on her, he supposed. "But it'll be just you and me love, promise. Just you and me."

Jade eyes flicked back to focus on him a long moment when he spoke again, her head turned to peer over her shoulder. Her eyes were surprisingly clear as she studied her mate in silence for several long seconds, steps slowed, and finally halted, before her head finally gave a slight tilt. " Yu wants what her Jua wants. Because she loves him too. He should remember that... " She murmured before the clarity was gone, and she was bounding off again into the sand in search of their prey once more.
Those flickers of clarity were few and far between but she almost seemed to force them up specifically for her mate when she needed to tell him something she felt he needed to hear. Or.. Perhaps not.. There really was no way to tell with the lioness. Soon she would be a mother and, there was just no way to tell which way the situation would go.
