Judeau could have never forgotten that day, he remembered it as if it were yesterday. The cold, the loneliness, the fear, he remembered it all. It seemed there was little he ever forgot unlike his carefree brother, perhaps a trait he have envied if he'd better understood their domains.
He had kept close to his brother's side since that day, any attempts from sibling or parent to separate them having been met with adamant protests. They had been close before, now they were inseparable, the little god finding in himself an overwhelming need to protect his brother. They had to be together, always, how could he protect Van'kal if they weren't together? How much that need would grow as they did, as they came to understand who and what they truly were.
Head titled curiously, he watched his brother from a short distance away.
"What're you doing?"
As he spoke, Judeau had risen to his paws, head lowering to butt at his brother affectionately.

Judeau gave a small squeak, rearing onto his hind paws to playfully pounce at his brother, a soft smile on his maw. If there was anyone who could ever bring a smile to his face, it was Van. When he was with his brother, Judeau could never be sad.
Draped over his brother, Judeau looked up at the sky, pale blue eyes searching the vast expanse. It seemed so close and yet so far away stretching on as far as he dreamed to see; it was so big, and he was very small.
"It looks so far away."
Or maybe it was already so close they had already touched it. To the mortals below it may have seemed the godlings had soared far beyond the reaches of the sky, maybe they had.
Judeau's tail twitched at the thought, could the sky be everywhere? All around them?

"I don't know, maybe."
It was a silly idea, a childish fantasy, father could no more bring them a piece of the sky than they could reach out and touch it. Somewhere in the back of his mind Judeau knew this. Yet it was a fascinating idea, or maybe it was just that he didn't wish to tell his brother otherwise.
It was Judeau's turn to nom on Van's ear, one paw batting at his nose. Sky or no sky, he had his brother, and for Judeau, that was better than owning the world, sky, or the stars.
But he had to wonder, could father touch the sky? To him his father was larger than life, he could do anything. Perhaps that was just how all cubs saw their father, an all powerful protector, an ever present warmth, the one who knew all the answers, a god. (okay, so in their case their father really was a god).

Judeau only answered with a smile, his head shifting one way then the other to avoid his brother's paws. This way, nope, that way, nu-uh, denied. It wasn't that Judeau was better at the game, he simply had the advantage of position, and an attention span longer than a goldfish.
As if to emphasize this point, thawp, his own paw came down right on top of Van's head.
But it wasn't any fun when the game was one sided, and a moment later Judeau was on his paws with a squeak, hoping a few steps away before turning back to face his brother, tail twitching over his back.
It was that playful side that only his brother was able to bring out in the often somber little cub. Come on, brother, chase me!

Whoops, here he came!
With a squeak Judeau turned, running from his brother as fast as he could, weaving one way then the other. Well, at least he was trying too, but small cub paws and snow did not make for the best traction, an attempted turn sending him sprawling into a snow bank.
"Yipe!"
Face first in the snow, the little cub nearly disappeared but for the blue tip of his tail. Oof, his head popped up, shaking the snow from his 'mane', with a grin.
Uh-oh, Van was on him! A squeak, he jumped from the snow bank, looking somewhat like a rabbit as he did, and turned to face his brother, rearing onto his hind paws to meet him head on. The game of chase had turned into a game of pounce.

Judeau had leapt forward, he was gonna get him! He was--
THUD!
His head had collided with his brother's, sending him sprawling backward into the snow. His eyes closed tight, wincing at the impact, ow, that had hurt. A paw went to his head, ow, ow, ow. Okay, so that had not been a good idea, horns made for hard heads!
It was a few moments later that he had made it too his paws, stars still flashing in his eyes as he looked for his brother. Oh, there he was.
"You have a hard head."
Or maybe it was his head that was hard, either way, that had really hurt! But he was okay, nothing was broken.
