Morning shown bright and clear, the only clouds to be seen a faint wispy hint of whiteness against the vast blue sky. Anwar yawned, stretching as he made his way out of the den he shared with his rather extensive family. His brother often had…strange…dreams, and Anwar had volunteered to be woken up should he be upset by them. The plan had, of course, worked quite well, and Obadias now told him everything he wanted to here.
The drawback was, sometimes he was a little bit sleepy in the mornings.
But that was quite alright with him. There were much more valuable things to be done with time than spend it snoring in oblivion. Learning was much more important. Much more. If he could grasp new knowledge in his dreams, as his brother did, then he would not find sleep to be such an utter waste of time. As it was… he’d rather feel somewhat drowsy in the morning, it was an extremely beneficial trade to know what he learned during the night. A cold drink from the lake would help bring him to wakefulness, and with that in mind the young Pesar padded down in the direction of the water. As a cub, he’d often been nervous traveling from the den on his own, uncertain as to whether or not he might get into trouble for it. By now he’d learned, no one really noticed if he was missing.
This was a fact he often enjoyed taking full advantage of.

Na'ima lay in the reeds surrounding the lake. Her paws were thrust into the cold mud, something that during the day would have been soothing, but during the slight chill of the morning it made her toes feel a bit numb. She lay there, however, with a bit of a purpose in mind. Before her small fish swirled about in the shallow waters. She had been watching them, learning their behavior patterns and watching what they ate.
It was something she did only when she could slip off on her own. When she had been just a cub she had been chatty, but only because she'd always been asking questions. She'd soon figured out, through listening and observing, that few found this quality a positive one, especially for a female who would one day be a Banu. Of course, being young, there was only so much she could really understand about a Banu's duties, but what she did know was that acting as she did wasn't the best of ideas. So, whenever she wanted to solve puzzles and learn, she did so alone and in silence. Catching these fish was one of those challenges.
Today she had decided would be her day to test her ideas about the fish and see if she could catch them. So she sat, waiting, watching, and hoping that no one would come and force her to abandon her game.

It would seem he was not the only one at the lake this dawn.
Crimson eyes fell on a black-tipped tail, the fur surrounding the soft fluff a rich purple color. A color which, to the extent of his extensive knowledge, was most common in the Sultan's line. How interesting then, this could be. So still she was, the young lion noted with interest, the way she watched the surface of the water as though she too were in possession of infinite patience.
Well, far be it from him to disturb so studious a lioness, even if she were a 'mere Banu'. Perhaps she would learn something he could use. In any case, he'd no other place to rush off to. Stretching languidly, casting another glance at the young lioness in the reeds, Anwar took a light leap into the lowermost branches of a convenient tree, settling himself flat on his belly, black chin resting on crossed paws as he waited to see just what it was that she was doing.
