Azar was really tired, she had been often lately. She found out why though, some one explained to her that she was expecting cubs and now that she looked at herself she noticed that she in fact pregnant and she wasn't exactly happy. She talked to Khin'del about it he seemed to be okay with it. But she had to sit on the sidelines she couldn't fight, she couldn't train, she couldn't do anything that she really liked to do in the pride. The most she could really do is wander around and talk to others while she wandered. She got tired often and she really figured she talked to many of the lions in the pride. She was really annoyed that she couldn't fight with others.

She wandered quietly toward the den that she grew up in. It wasn't really planned but she wanted to visit her father she just found every time she wandered that way her father was out and about doing something. So here she was wandering up to it. A smile grew on her face as she wandered toward the den, she could smell her father's scent in the air, she was excited to spend some time with him and talk a little bit. she felt like since she was older she didn't get to see him that often.

He was home.

Kidondo had had a lot to think about recently. Concerns with the recent rogue group and the murder. Concerns about Gods infiltrating borders. Concerns with certain members of the pride. Concerns with everything. But, that was easily put aside for a chance for a chat with his dark-pelted daughter.

So, when he heard the approaching of paws, he moved out to greet whomever it might be and was thus overjoyed to see Azar.

"So there's my grown-up daughter!" He called affectionately. "You been keeping out of mischief?" And then he blinked and did a double-take. Um...she looked...

...

...

....pregnant.

Azar had no idea about the matters of the pride. She wished she did. She would love to move up in the pride. She loved it so much, she wished she could do so much for the pride. Bt one thing she could so was talk to her father when she needed to. No matter how much Khin ticked her off some times she cared about him and the male helped her realize that she needed to be a little more lady like, she was pulling that off. The other thing was she needed to focus less on her job and more of on everyone around her, and that is what she was going to do. But for now she was going to have to worry about taking care of these cubs. Oh god cubs.

"Hi daddy!" She grinned ear to ear at him, she moved forward nuzzling him and purring a little louder. She would always be a daddy's girl. "Doing my best. Working as hard as I can." She grinned and nodded at him she was happy to see him.

He nuzzled her back, as if she were not an adult but a small cub still. And as he thought back on this newfound thing - her pregnancy - he suddenly felt very old. He felt as if time was passing by in a blink of an eye.

It scared him.

In truth, Kidondo had many years left in him yet. But, seeing the new generations of his family. Becoming a grandfather...? It really did make mortality hit home. "Glad to hear it, Azar." He continued, wondering whether he should mention the...obvious.

"So, tell me, what's new in your life recently! Seems like a long time ago we had a chat." It felt good, too, to talk about normal things. To forget responsibility and duty in order to take time to spend with his children.

Azar smiled and nuzzled her father back with a large grin on her face. She had always loved all of her family, but she felt like she always had an connection with her father. She smiled at her father once more before settling back on her haunches wanting to take some of the weight off of her paws. Not that long ago she was determined she was never going to have cubs because she was going to be a fierce warrior and be stronger then a lot of firekin. But at the same time she was on pause.

She pulled herself from her thoughts before looking at her father once more. "Everything has been pretty good." She nodded then paused, she was surprised her father hadn't said anything. "Putting training on hold as you can probably tell. She laughed a little nervously not sure of what he father was going to say about her having cubs. She wasn't that sure what he had said to Runya, as far as she could tell herself and Runya were the only two. "What have you up to daddy?"

Ah, okay, so she seemed to believe that he would notice. That was okay, then. She wanted to talk about it and he was more than happy to. Being male, he wasn't exactly the best at this sort of...thing. No would have probably been much better at this sort of topic than he. Even still, he'd give it his best shot.

"Yes indeed. Well, I think there is a congratulations in order for you, love. It makes me proud to see how much you've grown. Seems like only yesterday that you were so small. Now look at you! Grown and beautiful with youngsters of your own on the way!" He chuckled.

Time was starting to get away from him...

"Me? Things are settling down a bit now that we have most of the high ranks filled. We have a few new members, too. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see the pride flourishing." It was all he could have ever dreamed of. His heart swelled with pride to think of it, of what they had all achieved.

"So, Azar, tell me. Who is the lucky male?"

Azar laughed slightly as she managed to glance down at her stomach. "I do miss romping around with everyone, I just can't wait for them to come." She smiled up at him before she could feel a blush coming to her cheeks she was glad her father couldn't see, she never really know how proud of her father was of her and well when she had times to find out how much he was proud of her it made her feel pretty good. It was a goal she had her entire life she wanted to make her father proud of her.

She grinned at him widely. "I'm glad to see all of the new members too!" She looked around towrd the sands she remembered when she was young and the main new members were around was a bunch of cubs. She couldn't help but to chuckle quietly at the idea. "I hope you and mom are starting to spend some time together, you guys deserve it." She then pawed at him playfully with the smile on her face turning into a smirk. "When are you and mom going to have more cubs?" She giggled at the idea, hopefully they wouldn't have another huge litter! Her litter probably gave both of them tons of grey hairs!

"His name is Khin'del, he's a rouge that moved in not that long ago. He has a large firey bird marking on his side. He's quite the firekin... I feel strongly for him, yet at the same time. Im not completely sure..." Her voice trailed just a little bit. "It's an odd feeling... It really is, I'm not used to all of that."
PostPosted: Sun May 30, 2010 12:00 pm

"Ah, don't worry. You'll have your children and you'll be back to your romping around with others before you know it. I'd take the opportunity to relax and let everyone fuss over you whilst it lasts. Trust me, cubs are a wonder to any couple, but they do take a lot of energy." He teased, nudging her shoulder with his nose.

He was glad that his family was starting to settle to have families, too. He was lucky, really, to have such dedicated and wonderful children. All of them made him so proud. Hard workers and now parents - well some of them, anyway.

"More cubs?" He chuckled. "Us?" What would No have said if she had been here? They'd never discussed having more children and right now they definitely were enjoying relaxing and spending time with one another. "Well, maybe some time in the future. But, at the moment, we're enjoying watching our first litter growing at starting lives of their own."

He lifted both ears keenly, wanting to know more about this male. A rogue, eh? Well, that was good. Fresh blood in their line. A good sign indeed.

"I know the one you speak of." He had seen him around the pride, anyway. "Well, I wish you luck with that, Azar. The heart is a tricky thing, but, perhaps when the cubs are born, you will be able to see what sort of lion he truly is. Having a family will test the both of you. It will give you the opportunity to see if he is willing to provide and support you." He nudged her again.

Azar grinned ear to ear at the idea of being able to romp around again, she really couldn't wait for it. She was a fighter and the face that she couldn't fight at this moment wasn't something that she enjoyed. "I'll be able to keep up with them." She said confidently. She stuck her tongue out at him before grinning at him. "I'm just hoping that they aren't such trouble makers like my brothers and sisters were." She laughed at the idea now that she thought about it most of them were still trouble makers in their own ways. But she didn't mind. "If they really start to drive me crazy their father is taking care of them." She glanced at her father and nodded.

"Yeah silly! More cubs." She laughed at the idea, it was pretty amusing to her. To her she found the idea amusing, she would love to have more siblings, they wouldn't hurt. But then again maybe she just had a small soft spot for cubs. Or just a soft spot for teasing her father. "You know all that alone time is bounnnddd to mean more cubs." She teased him back a playful smile on her maw pawing at him a few times.

"He's a strong male, very strong. He will make a good father." She nodded before she looked at her father and then shrugged. "Once the cubs grow I'll have to talk to him and decide where we are to go." She laughed slightly then smiled at him again. "I like him though." She laughed slightly then looked at her father with a large smile on her face.

Kidondo nodded, agreeing. Azar had always had so much fiery energy. He didn't think he could imagine her any other way. "I'm sure they'll be quiet adept at keeping you on your toes. They'll have your fire in them, after all." He grinned. Yes, Azar certainly had planned well for the children and she seemed very much ready for parenthood. The same could not have been said for him. He'd been an emotional wreck!

He gave an embarrassed sort of cough at his daughter's implications and tried to act innocent. "I'm sure you're Mother would beat me across the head if it happened so soon after her getting her freedom." He laughed.

"I'm sure he will, love. After all, you chose him. If he was able to impress a daughter of mine, I would have expected nothing less." He had full confidence in the choices that Azar had made. "The strongest type of love is one that isn't made on first sight. The best love starts with friendship, respect and grows along with you." He thought back to when he had first No. The respect that she had bestowed into him had never wavered, but instead grown stronger, since that day.

"Did I ever tell you how I met your Mother?"

Azar looked at her father and then laughed slightly. "I'll make sure to keep up with them." She smirked before nudging her father and nodding at her. "I'm pretty sure that if they really frustrate me then I'll send them over to their grandpa so I don't rip out all of my fur." She laughed bumping into him playfully, she grinned ear to ear at the idea. "So you and mom can either choose to spoil them or put them to work or what ever you want." She grinned again. She was hoping that all of her children would make her parents proud.

Azar couldn't help but to laugh more she was enjoying picking on her father. She liked to joke around when she got a chance. "What freedom? We'll still drive her crazy." She pawed at him playfully before shrugging. "Then again I guess you could kick us out now." She winked at him.

She glanced down at her paws as her father talked, she was surprised with how well he spoke of her. It was really making her feel like she did what she always wanted to in life. "He's been growing over me since we first met." She laughed a little bit before smiling at him again. "I don't think you've ever told me how you met mom."

He laughed. "If I can help out, I certainly will. Even I am not too busy to spend some time with my grandchildren." He nodded thoughtfully. "If they're anything like you, Azar, they'll need plenty of distraction to keep them out of trouble." He was teasing her, of course, but she certainly did have a lot of energy!

"Freedom is overrated." He replied. He remembered being so nervous of becoming a father, but now he couldn't imagine not having children. Watching them grow into fine, young adults. It was an amazing thing to witness and he felt blessed for having been a part of their creation.

"I was only young at the time. A rambunctious juvenile ready to take on the world - as all Firekin are, of course. I left these lands to venture in the outside world. I was curious about it. Curious about the outsiders the pride so hated. Curious about finding a friend who had left the pride a few months prior. I strayed upon a land of terrors. An elephant's graveyard. Dark, dismal and spooky, echoing with the laughs of hyenas." He settled himself, finding it odd and ironic how such a place had been the beginning of such a budding and wonderful relationship. "I met your Mother there and we worked together to outsmart a hyena who was...out for our blood. We made a good team from the very first moment and, after I explained to her about my pride and my intentions, she agreed to help. We stayed together ever since that day, relying on one another, trusting one another. Achieving...so much. I could not have done it without her..."

He paused. "So, don't fret too much, daughter of mine. It may not be love at first sight with you and your male, but, if you both care and respect one another, that love will grow. Slowly at first, but stronger and more beautiful because of it."

She stuck her tongue out at her father at first, she loved joking around with her father. She stretched her paws out some before turning toward him. "If they are anything like Ea or Fia they'll be worse." She winked at him before laughing a little more, it was pretty sure she always remembered her parents chasing after one or the other of the twins. She always thought it was funny when she was younger and still it was amusing. However she would give anything so that her cubs weren't crazy hyper.

She giggled at his comment about freedom being overrated but when he started to talk about how her parents met. She looked at him with a surprised face. She didn't know that. "Wow." She was amazed at the idea. She wasn't that sure why but she was. He met some one when he was young and they liked each other that much. She really wished she could have had something like that when she was younger she thought it was so cute. She grinned at him. "I'm glad you and mom met. You two are the strongest pair I've ever seen." She nodded proudly she was proud of her parents. She took much pride in being able to say. 'My parents made an awesome pride and are an awesome couple'.

She nudged her father before a question came into her mind. "Daddy, I'm curious..." Her voice trailed for a moment as she though. "Why do we not like lions... not mostly colored red, black or white?" She felt like a little cub asking that question but she was curious about it. "It's something that has wandered into my mind a few times. I'm just cuious." She nodded at him.

Ea and Fia! Those little devils! At least they seemed to be keeping themselves out of mischief...for now, anyway. Though he didn't think that would last for long.

He smiled, clearly proud, too, of his mate and eternally grateful for the way events had played out during his life.

"There is a simple answer to that." He replied softly. "But perhaps the simple answer is not quite fair." But...fair or not...he couldn't help it. His feelings towards...towards the Goddess were clear. He hated her and hate was a strong word. There weren't many - if anyone else - in the world he held such feelings for.

"Our creator. Finar-si. She created us in her image. Red. White. Black. She made us superior. Made us survivors. We were her children. Her playthings. She turned our pride against the outside world, crafting us to believe we were more powerful. She made us feel justified in mistreating other lions who were deemed inferior because of their lack of a Goddess' blood in their veins." He paused, shaking his head softly. "Firekin are powerful. I won't deny that. We are strong. Very strong. Proud warriors. But...there are others, not born here, others lacking the blood of a Goddess who are just as strong - if not, stronger."

He blinked. "We were able to change many things after the war between my father and I. But...there is only so much change the Firekin can accept. Compromise had to be made. We could bring in new blood, but...to bring in new blood that would wipe out one of our strongest traits - the colour of our pelts. Even those who were open-minded would have found that hard to swallow."

He was losing himself in memories now. "When I was growing up here, there was a young slave. A female with a cream pelt and the brightest pink eyes I ever saw. She was not strong, not physically anyway. She was small and weak due to mistreatment. Most would have died, suffering as she did. Most would have given up on life and taken the easy way out. But...this little lioness. Her heart was strong. So strong. She faced the hardship of her masters and, despite injuries and suffering, she managed to take back her freedom and escape. To me, that is true strength."

Azar listened to her father carefully once more listening and taking in what he was staying, learning she always enjoyed learning about the pride. "I understand." She nodded before moving closer to her father and leaning on him a small sigh escaped her maw as she did. She looked around before nodding. "I do like the red, black and white coats. But then again it is sad seeing the Huria leave." She glanced at her father with a curious look in her eye. "I'd be fine if it didn't change but do you think it would?"

She chuckled slightly to herself. "I do completely understand that many would not be happy if you did." She shook her head herself before lifting it back up and playfully nudging her father. "Grumpy old firekin do not sound like they are fun to put up with." She looked down at her paws thinking about when she was younger. "Some of the really red lions picked on me and Zii when we were younger." She huffed slightly at the idea, she always hated it. "I proved them wrong." She said proudly puffing out her chest at the idea. "I showed them how much of a firekin I am." She had a lot of pride in her voice, she was always proud of who she was she was always proud of the pride.

"I'm... I'm glad she escaped." She nodded quietly. "I hope she's doing good now." She said thoughtfully before staring out at the sands. She looked at her father before smiling. "You did a good job with the pride daddy. You've made a great impact on it. You've changed it enough so it is something that we can all br proud of."
