Azna

Mother Goddess

User Image

As the title says, this is Azna, the mother Goddess.
I know that some don't have a clue who she is, I just found her not too long ago. For some reason it was decided by the church that she shouldn't be mentioned in the bible, but gnostics wrote about her and keep the knowledge about her alive.

She is the infinite love, mercy, and compassion of God, and shows her love in many ways as a mother would do.

I know you guys might not want to sit and read as I go on and on, so if you feel you want to know more, just go here: http://www.squidoo.com/Mother-God-AZNA

And as always, I'm not telling anyone what to believe or trying to convert you. Believe as freely as you choose...

Interesting indeed, i like the concept of a dual female persona for your god and im glad to hear that at least maybe a few of those who identify as being abrahamic are accepting a female diety into their faith after so many years of masculine oppression in religions like Cathlocism and Christianity,

Catholicism is a form of Christianity, and Christianity covers all religions who believe in Christ as the Son of God and their Savior. So I'm not really sure why you separate the two. They are not just now "accepting her into their faith" as you put it. She has always been there.

I have always found the concept of the Mother God beautiful. It is very much similar to my own beliefs, though the roles are somewhat switched. I believe in a God and Goddess (I am an eclectic pagan). I believe that both the God and Goddess are responsible for the "idea of creation" (though that's narrow as I believe more than just those two were involved), but that the majority of the power comes from the Goddess. She is the one who "birthed" the world, and he was the one who nurtured it and made it strong. She is the ruler of emotions, magic, life and death. He is the ruler of all things physical. I've had many people tell me that in my beliefs she appears to be the "stronger" one, while he is merely a consort, but I disagree. they are two halves of the same coin. Without the other, both would be useless and powerless (in a sense).

Sorry, I digress. I have a question though. I'm not sure if it is of the Gnostic beliefs or another. I have read/been told that it is actually rude/a slander to her to speak of her and that is why she has gone so long without being a forefront of the religion. (obviously beliefs do change over time) I'm not sure how that would work, but I'm curious if you've ever heard anything like this.

I looked up some information and she seems the mother Goddess to Sylvia Brown's system of Gnosticism. While I don't know enough about her Gnostic system to comment on, I do know it's very very loosely based on historic Gnostic mythos and more New Age and Theosophical leanings. Now there are a number of female emanations of God/the Monad that I'm aware of but I have not seen that name before.

Sounds interesting. I have heard of several different variations of the concept of a Mother Goddess. It's nice to see that it does spread into the Abrahamic religions.

Just to note: as for the comment of Christianity and Catholicism. There are many people who separate the two. I think usually the ones that separate them are from a Catholic background and has to do with the differences of traditions and history.

But there were quite a few books left out of the Bible.
