Vevilla wasn't up to that much today, she had woken up and bothered her father until he told her to go out and play so thats what she had plans on going to do. It was time to wander out and play around today. So she was going to do that. She had a bunch of energy and needed to get it out soon!

She darted along the area around the pride. She couldn't figure out what to do, with her light colored coat she didn't want to go swimming it was always cold because of that fact, well not exactly cold but it was cooler then then it was for the lions with darker colored coats. She looked around before giggling. "And the great Vevilla lurks her way toward the great opening of the den." She giggled to herself as she approached the side of it, flicking her tail around as she did. "AND THEN SHE POU- OH! Sorry grandpa!" She giggled slightly as she looked into the den realizing that her grandfather was laying in front of it. "It didn't know you were there.

"Oh!" He turned his great head to glance over a shoulder and spy the pale form of his granddaughter there at the den. Full of energy, she was. It brought a smile to his face and warmed his heart to realise how the family was growing.

But grandfather already? Boy did he feel old at that!

"Vevilla. What are you doing all the way out here? Causing mischief no doubt!" He was joking and it showed in the light-hearted tone he used. Either way, he was happy to spend some time with her.

"Don't worry, I've been resting long enough." It surprised him how the journey had exhausted him.

Vevilla was happy to have her grandparents back in the pride! It was really exciting to her. With the there she had more to play with more to have fun with. She smiled before nipping at her grandfather purring. "I'm playing around! I want to do something, come on Grandpa! We should go on an adventure" She grinned as her grandfather said he had enough rest. "Yay Grandpa!" She climbed up on his back before settling down on it. "Did grandpa have fun on his adventure?"

He chuckled, getting to his paws and blinking the fatigue from his eyes. Enough resting. Now he had grandfatherly duties to attend to!

"It was a good adventure, yes." He replied. "We went to see my brother in a land quite a long way from here. But, its good to be home. Very good. The world is a lovely place, that's for sure, but I wasn't built for travelling! It makes my paws hurt!" And he raised one fore paw - each in turn - to show his point.

"Okay, so what did you have in mind to do? I'm ready when you are."

Vevilla grinned and flicked her small tuff of hair out of her eyes, wiggling around happily as she did she was so excited to have grandparents back. Even though she had never met her grandparents before but she didn't care she missed them anyway! She was happy that not only were they around but they wanted to play with her!

She made herself more comfortable on his back and then nodded. "No feet hurt." She said simply before giggling again. before nuzzling into his mane. "If your paws still hurt we can stay here. Maybe you can tell me a story!" She giggled at the idea as she looked at him with an excited look.

He smiled. He remembered what it was to be young and impressionable, to absorb the world and its experiences, to wake up each day to something new and wonderful.

"Whatever you prefer, Vevi." He replied. "If you'd prefer a story than that would be fine. If you'd prefer adventure than that would be fine, too. I don't think my paws are going to drop off just yet!" He laughed.

"I leave the decision to you."

Vevilla glanced at the older lion a few times before nipping at his ear she looked around before grinning. "Maybe we could go on an adventure to the drum circle to visit grandma!" She giggled a little bit bounding to the front of the den before glancing back at him. "oo! Can you tell me a story on the way grandpa?" She asked curiously that was the perfect way that she could get both! "I can hear grandma druming from here lets go before she stops!" she grinned and giggled as she started to trot a little bit out of the den.

"That sounds like a good idea to me. I'm sure she'd be happy to see you." And, stretching his legs a little, he set off. "Okay, so what story to tell...what story..."

He made a 'hmmm' sound in his throat, and then; "ah ha! Okay, have you ever heard the story of the child without music, Vevilla?" He wouldn't tell her that it was based on a true story just in case the dear friend it was about got upset about it - though he thought it highly unlikely.

He'd just change enough of the facts so that Vevilla wouldn't know.

She grinned ear to ear as she looped around her grandfather's large paws. She flicked her tail around a few times once more then looked up at him with a surprised look on her face. "A child with out music?" she asked her eyes wide and curious she nipped very gently at the back of his paws, she was amazed at the idea of a child with out music, it was very obvious that she really never considered the idea of the not being in the pride and not being raised around music.

"Tell me!" She demanded before she corrected herself. "Please." she remembered what her mother said about manners.

"Very well." He cleared his throat and began.

"The child was born to a musical family. His mother was a great musician and, so too, were his siblings born alongside him. His name was Rue and he was a fine cub. Well-mannered and kindly. But, unlike his brother and sister, he was shy and timid. As he grew he came to realise that his brother and sister were taking to music like a duck to water. They could sing and dance and even play the drum, whilst little Rue felt nothing at all."

Aapep continued. "He began to grow sad, thinking himself unworthy of being a part of his family and, in despair, he went to his mother and told her his fears. He told her he had no music. No rhythm. And, do you know what she told him?"

He paused to give her a chance to think.

"She told him that all living things had music. All things from the tiniest insect to the stalking lion. She told him that all he needed to do was relax and it would come to him. That one day he would hear its song and let it fill his heart. So, Rue, feeling a little better, tried to forget his troubles and get on with his life. And then the day came. His drum quest. He crafted his drum - a beautiful thing - and set off to find his rhythm. None truly know the adventures he had whilst he was outside of the lands, but it was clear that - on his return - the music had not come to him. Saddened and ashamed, little Rue huddled at the borders and wept. And as he lay there, the tears wet on his face, he did not notice that he was no longer alone."

Aapep's voice grew hushed. "It was then that Rue heard it. A beautiful song being sung not too far away. The voice was the most wonderful sound he had ever heard. It filled his heart with wonder and, as he looked up, he saw a lioness standing only a few paces away. Tranquil and pretty and singing out her heart. And, as Rue listened, he heard the birds join in with her song. The insects, too. In fact, the whole world seemed set on joining in. The wind, the rustle of the leaves. And suddenly all became clear. He knew the music. The music of the world. The music in him, and, suddenly, he drew the drum from around his neck and beat such a rhythm upon it that all who heard were astounded at its sound."

He paused, smiling.

Vevilla looked up occasionally at the male with big round and curious eyes as she walked, she wished she could watch him the entire time that he talked but it was hard to look up and walk at the same time, she didn't want to trip and fall she knew that for sure, falling wasn't fun at all! Stories were always interested to her, she knew that some lions complained when their grandparents told stories but Vevi always wanted to know of the stories that her grandparents could tell, they were wonderful musicians and they had to have wonderful songs about music.

"What?" She chirped at the question her grandfather asked. "I don't know!" She giggled the suspense of the moment killed her but she listened to the story closely before a smile grew more at the end when he said he found his music. "wow!" She squeaked looking up again curiously. "I'm glad he found his music. The way the story was going I was afraid he wasn't going to!" She looked up at him then flicked her fur out of her ways then grinned once more. "I really liked the story grandpa." She paused for a moment before grinning. "He should have went to grandma though. Grandma knows her music really well!"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 04, 2010 10:01 am

"I guess the story's meaning is that the music is inside of us all. It may come with more difficulty to others, because it's voice is quieter, but we shouldn't worry. We should be happy and await the day we can hear it."

He nuzzled the top of her head gently. "But yes, you're right. Grandma would have been able to at least take the stress out of the situation so that he wasn't so upset with what had happened."

He looked up. "Speaking of your grandma, that definitely is her I can hear drumming away up there." He grinned. "She'll be surprised to see us, I bet."

Vevi grinned and looked down at her paws and smiled up at him. "So there is music in me too!?" she giggled and leaped forward a few times then looked back at him. "Wow! I think Daddy was saying something about that." She trotted up to him and pulled at his mane so he could lean over. "Daddy said even the water has music." She whispered in his ear like it was a big secret. She grinned before she looked up hearing the sound of the drums reach her ears. "Grandma!" She squeaked with a giggled looking up every excitedly.

"Grandpa you really love grandma lots right?" she asked curiously slowing down and weaving in between his paws excitedly and curiously. She purred as she looked up she was excited to hear his answer, things like love was very intersting to the little lioness, she really didn't understand it.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 04, 2010 10:21 am

"Of course there is, love. You have a song there in your heart. A song to dance to, to sing to, to drum to. It's there in all of us, even those not in this pride." He leaned his head, laughing. "Your Daddy is right. The music is everywhere. In every lion, every tree, every current of the water. In time you'll come to hear it everywhere you go."

He chuckled at her next question and nodded. "Very much."

He gave her a little nudge and then quickened his pace. "One day you'll know what that is like, too. Its a very wonderful thing indeed, little Vevi."
