Hi, Sarah. Salaam.
I don't think it's fair either that all Muslims are stigmatized for the actions of a few individuals. But I disagree with what you said, compairing Al Capone and Usama.
Let's ignore the religions for a minute and look at the scope of their actions: Al Capone was a Prohibition era gangster who went through the streets of Chicago and killed, maybe, tops, a few hundred people. Usama encouraged a group of men to hijack three planes and crash them. Thousands of people were killed when the planes crashed into the towers, along with the people in the planes, and the hijackers themselves.
The people who went into the buildings and died as a result in an attempt to find any survivors and rescue them, plus the ones dying of sickness from the inhalation of toxic fumes, can be called collateral damage.
So, they both killed people. One just killed a bigger number of people.
And you're right. You can always get the buildings back (if the workers actually do their jobs, which they're sucking at at this point in time--it'd been nine years in the making, that memorial that's supposed to be there), but you can't build the lives again, or the lives of the families the people that died left behind.
