If the distressed lowing of the cape buffalo hadn't called the Abaholi and any hungry females to dinner, the low roaring of the Brave group had. The huntresses had done themselves proud, the kill had been quick for such a large prey animal and all had eaten well from it tonight. The scrappy mess that was left now of bones and skin and hooves had once been a large bull. Even with five Abaholi who could come to take their rightful share they'd been assured a good meal from such a good kill. After they were done and the inevitable scavengers had taken their turn, time would turn it into just another skeleton in the Bonelands. Bleached dun amongst sandy savannah grass and dust. But for now it was theirs and they had well earned such a prize.

Asali crunched on a bone not because she was starving and needed the marrow within but because she enjoyed it. Her ears lay back as she broke it with her strong teeth, looking as far from 'pretty big housecat' as a lioness could get. The Umama licked her muzzle and looked about her calmly, pausing in her meal. The only thing that could improve this scene would be cubs amongst them, she thought, but they would come later if their Abaholi were worth the meat they ate. For now she was content with everyone having bellies distended by food.

The sweet marrow savoured, she left her bone and retired to relax a short way from the Brave group's kill. Naturally the Abaholi who had come were done and had been before the huntresses had started. As she set to washing the blood from her face and paws lazily, it was the other females she was waiting on, from her group and the others. Company was what she wanted.

((Joining in with Kamikiel Bummin' it. smile ))

He was lounging by the spot where Asali happened to choose to rest as well. It was a funny coincidence, three Pridelanders or prideland relatives having joined the same pride. He felt comfortable and at ease here, even considering what they'd had to do to earn their place at the top as it were. When she settled close by he barely moved but to turn his head in acknowledgment to speak.

"Well done, Asali." He said, by means of striking up some conversation. "That was an impressive kill, I just wish I could have seen your group in action during the hunt."

Until the prey has his own storyteller, the hunter will always have all the glory. Asali smiled at both the praise from Kamikiel and at how the proverb came to her of it's own accord. The proverb warned against excessive bragging. The very business of the huntresses after all was to hunt and while their good kill deserved some praise, Asali wasn't about to extoll their virtues for hours about it. Their pleasure must come from doing their job and from eating well, not from half-empty praise. They'd win 'glory' enough the day they brought down a rhino, a giraffe or even an elephant.

"It was a fine beast they brought down." There, that praised lioness and bull both. She turned pale blue eyes his way. One of Safuma's boys from the Pridelands, she'd known of him before she'd found Sorin here. Part of her missed her place at the Queen's side there but most of her rejoiced to be here, where she was no longer turning soft. She was the eldest of the Brave females but she was still in her prime and was as hard as any of them.

"All is well with you?"

"It was. The pride's been pretty well fed thanks to both of your contributions. Everything's quite well with me at the moment, as a result."

He gave a lazy stretch then, flopping onto his side and patting his stomach with a bit of dignity lacking, but his stomach was full and he was as content as a cub, so he couldn't help it.

"Do you ever think it's ironic?"

"Depends what 'it' is." She said, amused, and wondering whether the lion would come out with something truly ironic. Asali didn't mind that he'd flopped over. This was their time of relaxing and satisfaction after all and if he wanted to sprawl, he could sprawl.

"What are you referring to, Umholi Kamikiel?"
