The bright sun peeked through the swaying leaves of the trees in the Ukuucha land and found a scene of life-as-usual... or as usual as life got when everything you knew had changed.
Orah paced slowly behind her cubs as they rolled and tussled, taking them to an open space where she could keep an eye out while they played. They needed the sunshine and the room, and she needed a break from the den that had become cramped and closed in, at least for her. Cubs changed everything... over night, she had gone from lioness to mother, from free to something more restricted, but more fulfilling at the same time. She let a smile pass over her face as she watched the golden one, Rayhan, tackle one of his siblings. She had not felt the invisible strings of this place tying themselves to her heart, but she felt them now, and knew it was far too late to avoid them... a fact she found she didn't really mind so much.

Mollie had taken to bringing her cubs, the ones she could wrestle up or interest into going, to a big open space in the middle of the pride. Sometimes other cubs where there, and it gave her daughters and single son time to catch up with the rest of the pride. It gave Mollie a HUGE break she needed. Being her Pad's only Banu took it's toll on the black female. She was constantly tired. But, Vu promised that he had something lined up to help take some of the pressure off of her.
....Not that she had much time left. Soon her daughters would become part of other Pad's harems and she would be alone with Vu again. She was terrified of that, actually. She loved her cubs and didn't want them to leave her.
Glancing up with her dark green eyes, she spotted a Banu she didn't know and her cubs! What luck Afsar had today. Looking to her orange daughter, Mollie tapped her on the back with her tail and motioned her to look forward. And look forward she did. Oooh, new cubs to play with! And they were so pretty! With a pang, she pushed thoughts of her future Pad to the side and focused on being a cub. She would play today, and make Pesar friends, and maybe even Banu friends! Oddly enough, she didn't have very many of either.
She raced on ahead and stopped in front of one light gold boy with dark eyes. She gave him a big grin and a laugh, tail flicking. "Wanna play?" Manners? Ha. Not from Afsar.

Omaran looked up toward the glaring sun that heated his dark coat to a toasty degree, and shook his entire body. It was hot out today, and it made his little legs feel well stretched and energized. It was a good day to have fun and practice hunting and fighting.
He watched Rayhan pounce one of his siblings and growled in excitement, turning to duck his body into a crouch and launch himself into the fray. He nipped at something golden, and pawed at something deep brown, the confusion of bodies making it a little hard to distinguish things by anything other than color. Small teeth closed over something, and ear!, and he tugged playfully, growling happily.

Rayhan growled as his black brother leaped onto them, showing his teeth as he felt his ear pulled on. One orange paw bat at his brothers face, trying to loosen the hold as he squirmed and kicked, energetic snarls bursting from him.
He was just a tad distracted by his brother and didn't at first see the little girl cub that had come bounding up to them. His sister was a rich brown, so this wasn't one of his siblings. He frowned at her curiously, but another tug to his ear made him squirm and loose his frown.
"Quit it, Omar!" He snarled playfully, rolling onto his back to kick with his back paws into his brother's stomach.
"Ouch... Hi." He said to the female, trying to split his attention between his assailant and the newcommer.

"Quit what? Winning?" He laughed, tugging a final time as he noticed the female. One moment of confusion was enough to lose his concentration, and Omaran laughed as he started losing his hold.
He grunted and rolled off his brother as back paws shoved into his stomach. He landed on his back beside his brother, looking at the female cub upside down. He narrowed his eyes slightly, but meeting banus was a good investment for the future, he knew. She'd addressed his brother, so he watched her silently, chest rising and falling with the exertion of his play.

Mirsajadi was thrilled to be out of the den, even if it was with his mother and siblings. The fact that it was a permitted outing was even better, because deep in his heart of hearts he felt guilty about sneaking away, for fear it would bring unpleasant consequences to his mother, who should be minding him. The obvious consequence was that he tended to sneak away rather more than he needed to, just to prove to himself that he didn't care, and could be as cold as his father. It was better to be out with permission, though.
He sat aloof from his brothers' tussle, preferring to observe the two unfamiliar faces, the adult lioness and her daughter. Her very forward daughter. Mirsajadi waited until Rayhan had introduced himself and considered whether he ought to do similarly. Omar seemed to be holding back, but that didn't mean Mirsajadi had to. His brothers' actions only dictated his own in that it was his self-appointed duty to be better than them in every way, and thus make a good showing for his father.
"Hello, Banu...?" He smiled, attempting his father's grin.

He was a shadow today, as he often was. A darker patch in the grass, a greenish spot in the shade, crimson eyes gleaming with curiosity and perhaps something else, something almost even sinister. Perhaps one day it would be, but for now the pesar was still young enough to entertain cub-hood innocence, even if just on the borders of his thoughts. Anwar had new siblings, mostly brothers, and he’d not gotten to see too much of them, or his newest sister. It was only natural to be interested in his own family, even if their mother was different from his own. Father was what mattered after all.
They’d inherited the stripes, he noted with a faint flash of envy. He had some as well, but his were tribal-type markings, a combination of mother and father, rather than Tariq’s dark patterns. He cared for his mother, as any cub ought to, but it was his father whom he worshipped, his father whom he aspired to be like. At least, he thought idly, none of these cubs were striped and black, though that one, Om…something. He was spotted instead. It was really interesting, especially since neither his father nor Banu Orah seemed to have spots. Where did the come from, he wondered. Once he’d questioned the soft pale yellow of his own mane, but he’d found it on his mother without much effort. Those spots though…they intrigued him. He wanted to know how that cub came to have them, when neither parent nor siblings possessed the spots…
Oh, hello, who was this banu? He studied the younger one for a moment before turning his gaze to the mother. He’d seen them around, but never close enough that he should feel this odd tingle of familiarity…and anticipation. Only one…no…two people ever made him feel anything, and he knew Obadias wasn’t around… and neither was… ah. This must be Zarha’s mother. The cub, no, more than a cub, she was his age. But she had the splotchy patterns Zarha possessed, it only made sense that it was her sister.
“Greetings, Beybanu,” he said softly, padding into the clearing. Zarha had said her father, Pad Vu, had only the one banu, her mother, and that he loved her. What was her name again…? He couldn’t recall if his friend had ever called her anything besides ‘mother’… “I am Pesar Anwar, a… friend of your daughter Zarha’s.” Fellow conspirator more like, they always could come up with the most fascinating of plans…
“Mother Orah, good morning,” Anwar added inclining his head polity to his father’s banu, before turning his gaze on the tumbling tussle of brothers. He’d never played like that with his own litter-brothers, not that Anwar enjoyed those games at all. But neither did Rahim seem to, nor Obadias either. Was that strange?

Orah sighed, glad her little brood had found others to distract them. They were beautiful, and she was glad to have them, but with this being her first litter, it was hard to be a confident mother... she was always worried she'd do something wrong with them. Of course, there was always the nagging thought that what if this wasn't her first litter? What if she had cubs by another male, out there somewhere without their mother? The thought would haunt her always, she supposed, but there was very little she could do about it. Without a memory of her past, she didn't even know where to start looking for people who knew her, let alone any family she might have had.
Letting the thought go as something she had no control on, the dark banu stepped to the side and stretched out in the shade, shyly offering a smile to the banus that joined them, ones she'd never met before. "Hello." She said softly to them before glancing at her 'sister's' cub as he joined them. "Hello, Anwar." She greeted him.

Mollie just rolled her eyes at her daughter and sighed softly. No matter what she tried to teach her, the girl just wouldn't listen to her. When she was greeted by Anwar, Mollie offered a little smile and nodded her head. "Afsar told me of you. She's 'seen' you..." She said, her voice deep and filled with curiosity, but approval at the same time. It was good two of her three daughters were finding someone.
Afsar had Ilyas, Zarha had Anwar. When Orah greeted her, she nodded in return once more. "Hello, Banu. Are these all your cubs?" She tilted her head to the side. Anwar had greeted her with Mother Orah, so she was probably a den mother to that one.
She liked all this attention. How could a Banu not?! Her sister would be so jealous when she found out about this. "I'm Afsar!" She said to everyone who had inquired, whipping her golden tail about before giving them her best smile. They were such pretty cubs, truly they were! She looked to the golden cub, then to Omar, then to the other cub, then to Anwar.
"Anwar! Zarha will be so mad she didn't get to see you today." It only made her smile turn into a grin.

Tariq's banu dipped her head as she smiled shyly, her tail flicking against the ground.
"Um, yes, they are... my first litter. My name is Orah." She said softly.
Rayhan slapped his paw down on his dark brother to pin him to the ground, taking advantage to tug his ear in revenge.
"I'm Rayhan." He returned to the little banu, pulling back from mauling his brother's ear to smile winningly. It was a child's smile, but there was promise there. Maybe one day he'd learn to use that smile like a weapon.
When she turned away though, he frowned in a small flash of jealousy. Why should she pay attention to his half brother, when he was the one she'd greeted first?
"Did you want to play or not?" He said, trying not to sound too grumpy.

Anwar smiled at his other mother, somehow managing to retain the innocence he almost remembered from when he was still tiny and new in the expression. That alone was where it could be found though, for though young he had already decided to shed it. There was no benefit to be gained from remaining innocent of the world, naivete was not for him. The only use for it was disarming those who might otherwise have suspected him of knowing more than he liked to let on.
His body did tense slightly at the Beybanu’s words. ”She’s…seen me?” the Pesar asked, wondering if he was reading too much into the slight change in her tone or inflection. It would be an odd way to phrase 'she’s met you around the pride’…but…it couldn’t mean…could it?
There was a sharp flash of interest in his bloody eyes when he turned them upon the young Banu in response to her greeting. Was she a seer too? Perhaps he ought to try his hand in collecting her, another seer would be an exceedingly valuable asset to his plans…
“Perhaps I’ll see her later,” Anwar replied, his voice mild as always in spite of the Banu’s grin…or the fact that she’d addressed a male without first being addressed herself. Why did others his age often feel so…childish? They were the same age, he knew this. So why did she not interest him the way her sister did? Where was the intrigue that ought to have caused him to desire her, to attempt to possess her for her visions? Somehow, Anwar just…didn’t care. Zarha was worth inexpressibly more to him than her sister, seer or not. Why would that be…?
He blinked at his little brother’s glare, which one was this again? Golden…was this…Ray-something? Well, he’d no need to worry, Anwar had little intention of stealing this banu. He was satisfied, for the moment.

Mirsajadi watched the interplay between his siblings, his half-sibling, and the banu with interest. Her name was Afsar. She should have been introduced by her mother, he thought. Or maybe he was confusing his rules. There were an awful lot of them when it came to dealing with everyone, and right now there were lots of everyones to deal with.
He wanted to say something more to this Banu Afsar, but his older half-brother beat him to it, and he didn't want to speak after his brother. It would turn anything he said into an afterthought. Like his golden brother, he shot a quick frown toward Anwar, but given that Anwar seemed preoccupied he didn't think it would have much effect, which was probably for the better.
"I'll play," he said to Rayhan, thinking that might be a better way to get to know the young banu. She might decide talking wasn't as much fun as playing. Those words were the only warning he gave before he pounced onto Rayhan, likely spoiling his advantage and saving Omaran's ear from mauling. He wasn't yet much of a tussler, but he was enthusiastic in his attempts.
"I'm Mirsajadi," he added, balancing momentarily on his hind paws so that he could be sure she saw him and had a face to match to the name. He barely managed not to lose his balance as he returned to the business of trying to trounce his brothers.

Mollie nodded a bit to Orah and gave a laugh. "Mine too, but I hope for more. They're precious little ones, even if I can not seem to teach the importance of manners to them all." She cast a look to her daughter before watching Anwar with a wary look. She didn't like the look he had in his eyes; they were plotting and almost cruel. Almost. But she knew who his father was, so she wouldn't expect anything less from his spawn. But this newest bunch; didn't seem to have an evil bone in their body. Not yet, anyway.
Seriously too many cubs around. She was getting way to much attention being the only Banu here either of their age, or about. "Of course I want to play! I just.... want to greet everyone!" She shuffled over to Ray and butted heads with him, gently. "What're we all going to play? There's so many of us... Hide and seek would be really fun with this many!" She prayed none of them said wrestling. She didn't want to wrestle with this many boys.
When Mirsajadi introduced himself, she turned to him and nodded happily. "I'm Afsar. Momma's supposed to introduce me, but I just... ran forward to play. She didn't have time." She felt like she should explain to everyone why her mother seemed a bit rude in not introducing. It wasn't her mother's fault! Not at all. It's cause Afsar was excited.

Omaran hissed softly at Rayhan as he was pinned, but it was lighthearted and playful. He could tell his brother was interested in impressing the banu, and it only made him smirk. Banu should flock to pesar, not the other way around. His brothers need to impress the Pads, not the banu beneath them.
He turned slightly so that he could look at the female properly, and nodded his head slightly. "I'm Omaran. It's a.... pleasure to meet you, Banu Afsar." In truth he wasn't sure if he cared. He did care about the little teeth tugging at his ear, however, and he reached up a paw to bat his brother in the face.

"I'm pleased to meet you, Afsar," Mirsajadi said, echoing and paraphrasing Omaran's words. He was a little annoyed that his spotted sibling had beaten him to it, but not enough that he felt the need to do anything about it. What could he do, anyway?
Then he got a brilliant idea, based on Afsar's admission that she should have waited for introductions before rushing forward to play. Well, not exactly based on that, but it did factor into his reasoning. He thought, maybe, they should play a game which wouldn't put her at so much of a disadvantage. She was a little bigger than Mirsajadi and his brothers, but she was only a girl and so she had to be weaker anyway.
"We should play something else," he said, mostly to his brothers. "That way Afsar won't have to worry about getting hurt. How about Cheetahs and Zebras?"
He wasn't sure his siblings would listen to him, but it was worth a try, and if they did, that would be a good thing. It would prove that he had good ideas and a commanding presence, like his father.
I imagine Cheetahs and Zebras is something like Duck Duck Goose.
