Back to the BeginningQuote: Masa quelled a small snarl. She was nearly in a constant state of unhappiness lately. She felt uncomfortable, she felt abandoned, and she felt helpless. Heavy with cubs, she was completely at the mercy of the Mwezi'Johari, and she would be useless if their plea to join the pride was met with hostility. For now though, it seemed as if the guards had heard the desperation in Kobe's voice. Desperation for her sake. In some way, it gave her some quiet satisfaction to know that her presence had at least gotten them one step closer.
She eyed the guards and scolded herself for sizing them up as potential enemies. That would be no way to treat her new pride members. She knew she would have to let her defenses down eventually and accept them as her new pride, but could she ever see them as her new family? She shook her head to clear her mind. All that mattered was that her cubs were safe. They would have no lingering history to overcome when they made their way into the world and was determined to wait until they were older before telling them of their pride's past.
