What the hell point is telling your parents anyway? If I told my mother she wouldn't understand, and even if I explained it she still wouldn't understand.

There is no reason to share every facet of your life with everyone you know, family or otherwise. However, there is no reason at all to hide the fact one is a furry unless they are only in this fandom purely as a sexual fetish.

well i dont dress up in a furry suit. but i do wear a collar. im a kitten and my mate (for now) is a wolf. we both wear collars. my ex who is a very good friend is a fox and he has his collar too. but anyways my dad never pays attention to anything. my mom hates that i wear a collar.but i embrace it me and my bf even got owner tags so mine says "wolf's kitten". as for being a furry my mom doesnt really know and i honestly dont feel like having to explain it to her. my mom thinks out and about furries always have their furry suits on.but there are plenty of ones that go unnoticed.

I don't really see a point in coming out as a furry.. It's more of a fetish than anything else and I don't share my fetishes with my family. They know that I'm not straight.. that's another story, though.

I told my parents at the same time that I told them that I was gay, they flipped out quite a bit, and things escalated to me blocking my door with a dresser. They were speaking so much nonsense about me being into bestiality, saying that every single person I talked to was a ***** and there weren't any other people my age that were furries. They were saying that it was probably illegal and that I was sick. I attempted to talk with them rationally but they were acting childish, and took away my modem, saying the internet corrupted me, and was the sole reason why I was the way I am. They decided to drag me off that lovely psychiatrist that I always get taken to against my will. I told her straight up to talk some sense into my idiotic parents. For once she proved useful, and explained the whole thing to them, and got my parents to shut up. They seem to be fine with it now. Really the only reason I told them I was a furry as well, is that I plan to get a collar, and didn't want to have to explain everything to them later, might as well have them explode alot all at once, then drag the whole thing out. I also consider being furry more of a lifestyle than just a mere fetish, I would never discuss my fetishes with my parents, since that is information that is unnecessary for them to know. Though i do believe they have a right to know who I really am, and how I intend to live my life.

Wow, umm... If my parents knew about furries, and I told them I am one, they would probably disown me. They're very narrowminded about this stuff...
