It had been a truly delightful week. Pur'Jed had mastered all the lessons in comportment and decorum her mother had set her to for the week and as a reward her mother had told her she might commission a small piece of jewelry for herself. Pur loved pretty things, and she also loved the feeling of being right. Having earned so much of her mother's praise, there was no way she could be anything but right.
And so with a prance in her step, the mostly purple juvenile made her way to where the artisans tended to work. It was midday and the sun was at its highest point, but she didn't mind that, nor did it occur to her that the lions and lionesses working there might be taking a siesta during this hottest part of the day. After all, she was awake and moving about, and so they could be expected to do no less than that. She didn't even mind that small eddies of dust were coating her paws, which she usually took great care in keeping clean. She was going to get something pretty because she had earned it!
As she wandered through the area, however, Pur's mood darkened. She didn't see anyone at work that she might speak to. In fact, she didn't see anyone at all. Just one funny-looking cub about her age. He obviously wasn't nobility of any sort, and so she paused to draw regality around herself like a cloak before approaching him.
"I'm looking for an artisan who can make me something small and decorative to wear," she told him. It was a little ambiguous whether she expected him to do something about this personally or just take her to someone else who could.

The male hadnt taken as much of a break as the ones who were teaching him. He was being an apprentice, and he enjoyed trying to perfect his craft. After all..How would he be the best later if he didnt practice while he was young? His pelt didnt hold heat much, so the heat of the day did little to disturb him. In fact, his trainers hut was in a shady region. So he was able to get the coolness of the shade, and so he didnt have to care too much about the heat. His paws too, were caked with dust. He wasnt the type to just keep clean, not when you worked around dusty lands. He knew that his paws would always be dirty. .He had no hopes in keeping himself as pristine as he might like.
His best friend had left to visit her parents for the time being. Usually Dai'zee could be found around him at all times. She loved to be around him, but they were just friends. Or at least for now thats how he saw them. Being nobility, he was sure her parents wouldnt be too excited for them to be so close, but he didnt care. His parents liked the fact he had a friend, and he felt that hers should feel the same.
He had a piece of string, tied to a rock, and his claw was neatly adding each little pebble and shell to decorate the string slowly. He had to make sure it was perfect!
He paused at her words, unexpecting anyone to be out this time of day. "I-Im sorry?" He asked, stopping and perking his ears. He had never been asked to make anything, and very few actually spoke to him, when they could speak to the ones that were better at their craft.

"Are you apologizing for not hearing me or for being slow or for something else entirely?" Pur asked. She tried to sound as much like her mother as she knew how. Her mother always made it sound so elegant when she was cold to people.
"I. Am. Looking. For. An. Artisan," she said, speaking excessively slowly and enunciating very carefully. It probably made her harder to understand, but that wasn't the point. The point was humiliating this idiot who was wasting her time and trying to spoil her day.
Pur quickly lost patience with speaking slowly, because it took a very long time and so she said all in a rush that grew more excited as she spoke, "I want to commission a piece. My mother said I could. It's going to be the first piece of jewelry I've ever had that was really my own."
She shook herself. "So, can you tell me where I might find an artisan?"

He sighed a little, shaking his head. This was why he stayed away from the nobles. Because of her pelt, she was better than him. But he wondered if her personality was better than his. Judging by her tone, and slow speech, she was mocking him. "I was apologizing because I wasnt expecting anyone to be around, and I wasnt sure if it was indeed me who you were speaking to." He replied, though he looked her in the eyes. He wasnt humiliated..not really. He was hard to humiliate. Father made sure that he wasnt too full of pride. It kept him from having much to lose.
"Yes, I do. I.. I do little work, Im still an apprentice, but.." He looked down at the string he was tying shells and such to, then back at her.
"Not sure if it was something that youre looking for, or if you like my work, but I could easily do something you would like."
He said, hoping that maybe she would take him up on the offer. He wanted to prove himself after all.. even if this certain token was for his Dai'zee.

"I'm not sure who else I would be talking to," Pur remarked. She was now utterly convinced that the oddly mottled lion was slow in the head, and yet she couldn't quite bring herself to be charitable toward him, as her mother advised. "I suppose I might have been talking to myself, but that's unlikely, don't you think?"
She sighed delicately and shook her head. When the lion said he was an apprentice it tested her to the very limits of her self-control not to scoff at the preposterous idea. Who in their right mind would apprentice such a lack-wit? Perhaps he was apprenticed to another lack-wit. It didn't speak well for the quality of their work, however she looked at it, but she supposed she ought to be polite and at least glance at what he did.
Pur turned her green eyes to the shells he was working with. In truth, Pur had never considered that it might actually be difficult to be an artisan or a crafter. After all, it was manual labor, and that didn't require any special intelligence or breeding to pull off. Still, if she was being honest with herself, she probably couldn't have made those knots, or arranged shells together in such a way as to make them attractive. Maybe he was an idiot...savant? Was that the phrase her mother used?
"That is very pretty," Pur admitted. And her mother would probably be pleased if she was thrifty enough to commission an apprentice, rather than a full artisan. "You're good with your paws."

He figured he should be used to nobles by now. He supposed he was just always thinking that the way Dai'zee acted.. was the way they all should act. But he shook his head and shrugged it off. "Im not sure, Im sorry." He said, hoping just to keep her from being upset with him. Nobles being upset with you, was a horrible experience, and he wasnt going to be the one to start the cycle.
The male was entirely too smart for his own good, but he was the type to put off such a thing. He didnt want to be the one that people thought too much of. He enjoyed being in his own world, keeping away from the limelight..It was a smart way to be, or so he assumed.
He hadnt been expecting her to compliment his work. He looked at her and would have blushed..but somehow he managed to push it away. He smiled a little, looking back down. He liked to think he was good at what he did. He loved his work, and he loved being able to give others things of beauty.
"Why thanks maam.. Are you looking to have something made?" He asked, trying to be professional.

Pur thought to herself that commoners were such simple creatures. All she had to do was compliment his work and he was all happiness and willingness to help. Her ability to manipulate him was like her mother's ability to the same thing, and she was proud of her success in that area. She thought her mother would be, too. And she'd probably think what Pur had said before was funny. "I am, actually," she said. Now that he was settling into his role as an employee, she could settle into her role as boss. She was far more comfortable and familiar with that role, and being the one in a position of authority. Soliciting anything, even asking for help, went against the grain for the purple cub. "My mother said I might commission something small and decorative. But I'm not wholly sure what I want." It galled her to admit it, but she wanted to come out of this with something that looked good, and she'd never before given a lot of thought to personal adornment. "I assume you might have some suggestions if I asked."

Buffy_the_Bloody He was good at the obedient role. He obeyed his family, and he obeyed his superiors..Not that he liked the idea, but he listened well. Its how he had learned his skill so quickly. He looked down at his paws, unsure of what to do next. She seemed to be thinking he was dirt right now, and he had a hard time relating to that idea. He felt he had more to offer than she did..She had no skills, besides being mean, and because she was a noble she would marry wealthy. She would never learn anything..No skill or task. The thought soothed him a bit. "I could indeed. Are there certain items around that you really like?" He asked and held up his piece he had been wokring on. "See? There are shells and bits of stones that I really liked that I added.. Flowers too. Is there anything youd be fond of?" Princess_Feylin "I like flowers," Pur conceded. "But they don't last very long, and I don't think my mother would be terribly pleased if I had something made which wouldn't last." She had never seen her mother wearing anything like that, at least. In truth, she hadn't really seen her mother wear a great deal of jewelry at all. When she did, she looked gorgeous, of course, but Pur could tell that her decorations and ornaments on those occasions were far nicer than anything she intended for her daughter to get this time around. Pur guessed she would probably be better off if she just got something simple and pretty. "Do you have anything green? I like green, too." Green like her eyes, which she was very proud of, even though she'd had nothing to do with the color. She liked having green eyes, though, and thought the shade was very pretty. She didn't regret not having magenta eyes, which would have been more purple. They weren't as special, she thought. Buffy_the_Bloody He nodded with a smile. "Yeah sometimes they dry up, but theyre more fragrant that way, and if youre gentle, the peice can last a good long time." He nodded and placed his bracelet for Daizee back down. He stood up, and made his way to a tree where a hole in the base resided. He put his paw in the hole, and pulled out all his trinkets he liked to use. There in the center was a lovely green shell. He had found it when his father had been walking the beaches with him long ago. Most of his items were all special, and love went into every piece he made. "Father found this with me long ago.. But I think it would look lovely on you." He said with a grin, bringing the shell back to her and placing it at her feet so she could see it. He had gold twine that his teacher had given him. He wasnt sure where hed locate such things, but he didnt care much, it was pretty, and gold and green were beautiful together. Princess_Feylin "I didn't know that," Pur admitted. "About flowers being more fragrant when they're dried." Mostly she appreciated flowers from a distance after an experience with eating them that went very badly indeed. When she said she liked flowers, she really meant that she thought they were pretty. She would not have chosen to wear them for any amount of money. She watched him put down the piece he was working on and noted how carefully he did so with approval, though she didn't approve of him just turning his back on her, no matter what his reason was. People weren't supposed to turn their backs on nobility without explaining or excusing themselves. Her eyes narrowed just a little, but widened again when she saw the green shell he came back with. "Do you really?" I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. If you could make something with it, I would be appreciative. But perhaps you were saving it for something else?" Her question was leading, and it would behoove him to deny saving it, because in Pur's mind there was no one more worthy of it than herself, except possibly her mother and the queen. Buffy_the_Bloody "Flowers make good jewelry with care. Though I can understand not wanting to wear them. It would be hard not to break them." Though he knew true nobility might actually like wearing flowers, in an attempt to show how graceful they were to not break them. But he didnt voice that aloud. He wasntup to pissing off the little noble juvenile.. "I saved it for a rainy day. A day that someone would come and ask me if they could have something from me. Im used to making things for my teacher to sell, its nice to sell my own." He said with a smile. Daizee didnt like green, she preferred Pinks and yellows. He had done alot of searching to find her tokens, but when he did, he knew shed love them. "Id be honored to make you something miss." He said with a nod. Princess_Feylin "Well, wonderful. And maybe when you're older and famous I can say that I had one of your earliest creations and everyone will be very impressed by my good taste." It was a pleasant fantasy that Pur hoped came to pass, but wasn't about to hold her breath for. He had, after all, seemed very stupid to begin with, and an artisan who was that slow on the uptake probably wouldn't reach any sort of fame, even if he was very talented indeed. "I had best be going now. My mother will wonder at how long I've been down here." She didn't know that she ought to make arrangements for retriving her commission when it was finished, or for having it delivered to her. She was just proud of herself for having done the commissioning. Buffy_the_Bloody "That would be pleasant indeed." He said, and this time, he was truly honored. He smiled, and looked at the piece that he had been making. Maybe he could be more than he was now. He would stop at nothing else.. to be a talented jewelry maker. When he looked back up at her, he chuckled. "When would you like me to have it done? I could finish it in about three days time, but Ill hold it however long." He said with a nod. He had never been commissioned all on his own, but he had watched his teacher many times. Princess_Feylin "Um." Pur hesitated, once more unsure. "I don't want you to get in trouble with your master for not doing his work and the work he assigns you to do. When you finish it, just send someone to tell me and I'll be by to pick it up at my earliest convenience." That was something she'd heard her mother say before. That she'd do something at her earliest convenience. It was a way of making sure the other person knew that they were less important, but it still sounded polite. In all likelihood, Pur would probably drop whatever she was doing unless she was with her mother, and come as quickly as she could. Or maybe she'd wait a day or two, just to look important, but she was more enchanted with the idea of having something pretty to wear than the idea of seeming important. For once.
