Games were fun for a while at least. Kanie glared after the mewling cub as he scrambled off for his mother, her ears flattening against her head as she watched the female stalk towards her mother. Again. She would be scolded again, though at least mother seemed to understand that she didn't mean to make them cry. Why would she want to do that? The noise was just annoying. Growling low in her throat, the hybrid bared distainful fangs at her supposed would-be playmate before stalking off a ways. She felt a bit sulky, it was frustrating to try to practice when no one around seemed capable of taking a hit. But she needed to practice. If she were going to grow into powerful currency, she needed to take all the time she could to prepare. Hybrids were not currency, not that she'd ever seen or heard of. And she had asked, it was one of the very few times she'd ever used her voice. The male had laughed at her when she had. Kanie's lips peeled back in a silent snarl as her tail lashed against air. Someday she'd show him who would be laughing. Someday he and all those he'd chuckled about it too, they would know what it was to fear the fighter she would become. Not cruel, mother taught her better than that. But stronger. And frightening, she was allowed to frighten those who would taunt her. And they would be scared, she was sure of it. Someday. And someday would be soon.

Some might consider Tarou's attitude towards bullying strange. He believed that picking on someone obviously weaker than yourself, such as a young cub or someone with a disability, was dishonorable and cruel. A true fighter would challenge himself to battle worthy opponents and ignore the weak. On the other hand, if the victim was able bodied and old enough to stand on his own four paws, then the bullying was plainly his own fault. Unless a cheetah was blind or crippled, there was no excuse for being unable to stand up for yourself.
Now Tarou had been watching the fight unfold with a scowl. After the pureblooded cub ran off, Tarou approached the hybrid from behind and called to her in a loud voice. "Hey you, what do you think you're doing? You shouldn't be hitting other cubs."
Were she a pureblood like him he might have seen her actions in a different light. As a hybrid she would grow to be either a slave or a nanny. Based on her size, Tarou thought she would make a better nanny. She would have a better life as a nanny, too. However, if she was going to be a nanny, she would have to get over that nasty habit of hitting cubs. Maybe she didn't realize the way things worked around here.

Kanie's ears flicked at the sound of a voice behind her, her muscles tensing though she merely turned her head calmly. Who was this talking to her then? He looked mildly familar. One of those cubs that the male mother liked to talk to brought with him. One of the ones her brother had been playing with perhaps? No, she didn't think so. Hikari was not much for playing games like she was. Jiro was more fun that her pale-furred sibling. Both of them for that matter, as Satomei did not 'play' like Kanie did, and would always tell mother when the dark female got too rough.
After a moment of looking him over, not finding any of the vivid red markings most of those cubs displayed, she decided that maybe he wasn't one of mother's friend Mana's cubs. Not that it made any difference whose cub he was. Everyone was all the same as far as she cared. Her tail switched, betraying irritation.
"...pl...aying..." she informed him darkly, coughing slightly to clear her throat. She did not speak well, so she did not speak often at all. Or perhaps because she did not speak often, she did not speak well? No matter. Either way words meant nothing beside actions. She was good with action.

Tarou's ears plastered against his head when he heard her quiet, unpleasent voice. Maybe she had a cold. "Reguardless," he began, proud of his big word, "you shouldn't be hitting other cubs. If you keep playing rough you're going to get in trouble."
Although Tarou didn't look much like his father, he was indeed Mana's son. He carried himself with the kind of self-importance rarely seen in a cub his age. Because he watched the adults carefully and took his nanny's advice on manners and other social niceities, he looked and acted like an adult trapped in a cub's body.
Yet there was no escaping his youthful inexperience. In Tarou's world being an adult and being a nosy tattle tell were one in the same.

Kanie merely eyed the other cub as his ears plastered back. She wasn't even hurting him or anything. They hadn't played any games. Why would his ears do that? Hikari did that when he was upset. If this cub was upset...then that would be stupid.
As he spoke she huffed. He was going to lecture her? Even mama didn't do that anymore. Mama understood. If Kanie wanted to hurt another cub, then they would certainly have something to cry about. But a few bumps and bruises...that was just playing. Even Hikari understood that now, though sometimes he still cried a little. At least he didn't go to tattle.
Irritation showed clearly in her pale eyes, and even before he finished suggestion that she was going to get into trouble her claws were raking through the dirt, her tail punctuating her annoyance with a sharp lash. This cub was not even an adult. He had no cause talking to her like this.

But the half-blood cub clearly wasn't listening. How impetuous. Perhaps he should keep an eye on her, for he knew any adult would want to keep an eye on trouble-makers. "What's your name?" Tarou demanded, his little nose crinkled with disgust.

What was her name? What a stupid question. So he was going to tattle on her for something then? For what? The other cub had already cried about their game. What did he possibly have to cry to his mommy about?
"...Ka...nie..." she hissed at him finally. If he was going to tattle, if he was going to lecture, then maybe she was going to give him a reason to tattle and lecture. Or maybe just a reason to cry. Mama would be displeased with her if she did it on purpose, but maybe she would do it anyway.
