Gift of Dream

PostPosted: Tue Dec 07, 2010 7:10 am

Walking around and seeing the myriad of Grunnies and Gaia users fighting got her in the mood, so she decided she'd take one on herself and see how far she got.

That was, until she actually got there. Gift of Dream had managed to stumble onto a Grunny unluckily as she was walking around the battlefield, and was unprepared. She was a quick thinker though, and knew she could trick her enemy one way or another.

"Oh, I'm sorry there cutie! I was just looking for a new pet... To uh.. help protect me in a different battle for Gaia!" Upon having said it, she knew it sounded pretty stupid, and the Grunny wasn't likely to fall for it. Impossibly, however, the green horror before her calmed down, and actually looked kind of cute when it did. The Grunny sauntered over to her and she began to pet it.

One of the good things about being a Mage was never having to carry a weapon around, this made you seem twice more vulnerable and helpless to most enemies. She began to mutter an incantation impossibly fast and within a few seconds, set the Grunny's fur on fire.

The Grunny, finally realizing it had been tricked, threw it's body on the ground and smothered the flames she'd carefully started. "So close!" Thought Gift of Dream, as the beast before her readied to attack.

The beast glared at her, fury in it's eyes. Gift of Dream knew she'd better have a plan if she wanted to avoid the maiming that was likely in store for her from the mutant rodent.

She thought for a moment, and realized she had a new spell she was wanting to try, she began muttering impossibly fast once more when another user toppled over onto her.

The magic frost that had begun to form in the air exploded! Covering her with icy pieces, she helped the other gaian to his feet, and quickly shook herself off.

She had barely a moment's notice before the creature was in the air and showing it's teeth. The horrible abomination before her seemed somehow transformed, at least twice as horrifying attacking then it was on the ground preparing for it. Gift of Dream readied herself as much as she could before the inevitable blow...

Gift of Dream

The grunny smashed into her hard, Gift of Dream saw stars as she pulled herself off the ground. The Grunny was preparing to attack again, she knew she had to think fast, she hastily muttered another incantation, and was preparing to shoot a fireball.

The grunny, having successfully attacked, found the girl's weak point when it had struck, and knew it would need only 3 more hits before she was ready for a final deathblow, it seemed to be giving the grunny equivalent of a smirk when it opened it's gaping maw of a mouth and shaped it somewhat in the style of a smirk.

Gift of Dream was shaken by the creature's face, which always seemed to transform before her into something more hideous every time. Her concentration was broken, and once more magical flames fell around her, it took her a moment to realize what had happened.

If the Grunny had seemed awful smirking, it was on another level that was beyond Gift of Dream's comprehension of awful when that hideous face seemed to be beaming at her misfortune. Gift of dream quickly began muttering, but it seemed too late, the creature was charging.

Gift of Dream finally let out a smirk herself when the creature was attacking, she'd thrown up a shield...

Gift of Dream poured her heart into the next attack. Muttering at speeds twice as fast as before, a spear of ice began to form in the air. As she was muttering, it had occurred to her she forgot an important lesson. Her old master always told her she could overlap magical effects with one another based on the order she muttered...

"sie'et'qu'kev'ne-al'buu-has-oma'ku'puckta" She continued muttering phrases at an impossibly fast speed, after realizing the spear of ice had formed in the air, she began starting on another incantation, while still holding up her spear of ice still floating overhead.

The grunny, who had heretofor seemed stronger then her stopped mid-attack when the spear of ice had formed, and even retreated some when the spear caught fire. The grunny realized this was what she wanted though, and didn't want to give her control of the battle.

The grunny ran at a blinding speed, Gift of Dream could hardly keep her eyes on him. The grunny lunged at her, but was repelled by a shield. The green menace before her was unsure what had happened, and began pacing around her.

The flames from the icy spear arose higher, and higher, until they seemed to be reaching into the heavens themselves. Gift of Dream knew she had succeeded in the first part of the spell, and began muttering yet another incantation.

The flames that had risen impossibly high now seemed to be heading a different direction, almost as if it were crashing down upon the grunny. The grunny knew very well it didn't want to get hit by the incredible tower of flames, and began yet another blindingly fast run, this time in circles around Gift of Dream.

Gift of dream realized the grunny had taken off, and knew the flames wouldn't be able to hit their target, she thought she could create a diversion though, so she continued with it.

the tower of flames crashed down upon the ground, there was a great shaking of the earth, then the gargantuan wall of flames that seemed more like Hell had come down upon the earth then any type of fire conjured by mortals, suddenly as it came, disappeared.

Gift of Dream

The grunny had barely escaped the pillar of fire Gift of Dream had brought down, and breathed a sigh of relief once he thought all was safe. Unfortunately for the grunny, it had forgotten all about the instrument the conjured flames had fell from, and temporarily let down it's guard.

Perfect! Thought Gift of Dream. She began only a slow, soundless muttering now. The spear of ice above her quivered, and she feared the worst. The spear, however, promptly shot from above her! The spear moved at a speed too fast for human eyes.

The grunny had seen it all in a moment. It felt like an eternity, yet happened at what seemed like the speed of light. The grunny had looked up in time to see the spear catching it's face, and could see no more as the spear pierced it's left eye, then carried it off the ground from momentum. It could remember no more between the time of hitting the ground and right now, as it awoke once more, ready to fight.

Gift of Dream had so far had the short end of the stick in this battle, but felt exited as the tide turned in her favor. That last spell had taken a lot out of her, and she understood now why people didn't merge their spells all that often. It was incredibly draining. The beast before her though seemed frightened. There now was that cute face that had seemed to want to join her, and help her in her battles. She knew she couldn't focus too hard on that face, for the beast was weakened, and all she would need to do now is finish it off.

The grunny was in immense pain as it picked itself up off the ground. The fury in it's face seemed to be coming back, but it could only limp to her in it's damaged state. The grunny was through playing around now, and the look he gave her showed it.

Gift of Dream felt pangs of remorse run through her heart. She had come simply to see what all the fuss was about, and save the holiday she held so dear, and if this meant putting a few mindless beasts who were being abused to the rest they deserved since the day they had been mutated, then so be it. She had learned instead the creatures weren't all that bad, and regardless of how twisted G-Corp had made them, the cute little shy creature they had once been was still there.

The creature's fury had returned fully, the previous attack and the poor animal's eye didn't seem to bother it anymore, and it made the macabre horror that so fully frightened Gift of Dream that much worse. She knew that deep down there was still an ounce of good to a creature that seemed to reek of evil.

The beast didn't charge this time, nor did it jump and tackle her, instead it had a different idea in mind it seemed. The grunny smiled and began what seemed like a hacking bark.

Suddenly, without warning, 5 more grunnies seemed to surround the one she had been fighting and began eating the creature. No, not eating, Gift of Dream could hear sounds of retching, they were vomiting on it. The grunny stood once more, it's eye was back in it's socket. The 5 grunnies seemed to scatter once more through the battlefield.

Gift of Dream thought the creature had been healed, when she saw it began walking at the same pace. Was it deliberating, just waiting for the right moment to attack? Gift of Dream began muttering a new incantation, one which would make her eyes ten times more sensitive and looked at her opponent. The creature's leg was damaged heavily, it must have been broken after it was knocked down by the spear. Strange, she thought, she could see the leg was broken, yet it didn't hobble or refuse to walk on it's broken leg, it seemed unfazed by it. She shuddered, it only gave her one more reason to fear the abomination before her.

The grunny began shaking horribly. Gift of Dream saw this as another opportunity to attack, and muttered once more, low and fast. This time water seemed to forming in the air, not ice, and form a wave, which was now being launched right at the grunny! The wave seemingly made contact, however, once she could see the grunny again, saw it was dry.

Gift of Dream muttered once more, and the grunny seemed to catch fire! The creature wasn't scorched however. Gift of Dream muttered again, and suddenly her eyesight was ten times more sensitive. The flames weren't making contact with the fur, they were stopping just short. The grunny was using a magic shield.
