[Tainted Irony]

The story:
Her name was Rai and she was a rather innocent young girl, only 17 years of age and had a rather curious nature about her. She looked at the world as a giant playground and never assumed that things were bad, and that people could be dark inside instead of light. She was a perfect little girl, beautiful and well mannered. The only problem was she was a giant klutz. All the time she was dropping things, breaking this or that, finding new ways to injure herself without so much as getting out of bed in the morning. For this reason only she drove her parents wild and her friends adored her, because they always had something to giggle at.

Her family was a nice one. She had a mother and father that worked hard and loved each other, and no siblings. They lived in a nice house that was well furnished and she attended a relatively decent private school.

Everything was perfect until...

"We have to do something, we can't keep affording to live here" were the words she heard when she was sneaking downstairs to get herself some midnight snacks. She paused and listened. Her parents were talking about how the house was too expensive and the school too needy for what they could afford because her father had just gotten laid off. She blinked in utter shock-- she had thought her dad was in for a raise soon but laid off? that made no sense.. So with her shoulders hunched she crept back upstairs and snuck into her room, knocking over a lamp in the process but this noise was ignored as it was a regular occurance to the parents.

Next day:

While on her way to school Rai stumbled into the cafe, still rather depressed about the news she had heard earlier-- and she wasn't sure how she would break it to her two most trusted friends. She looked around the cafe and then got in line, waiting to order her ice cap like everyone else, foot tapping impatiently. As she stood there though she couldn't help but notice the rather large sign on the back wall of the cafe.

"WANTED, GRUNNY. Large reward!" was all the information it stated, and a small number to call once a grunny was caught. She blinked, an idea forming in her mind-- if only she could catch the grunny then maybe she would get the reward, one big enough to help her parents pay for the house and keep her in the school she loved so much!

And so her adventure began...

RP: Now her sixth time trying to get this grunny the woman growled low under her breath, starring at the single grunny standing in the field. She inched forward, slowly, slowly, making sure that she made no noises. Just as she was about to pounce forward she noticed her North Star Kitty moving towards the grunny as well. AH, a show down! She grinned and pounced outward toward the grunny to see who would get there first, at the same time her cat did.

She would fall to the floor and blink, feeling nothing but ground underneath her. She tilted her head to the side and saw that her kitty was holding the grunny by the scruff of it's neck but after a moment and a quick motion the grunny freed himself and scampered off-- but damage was done.

She wasn't able to get up fast enough to grab the grunny but her cat moved towards it at lightning speed in order to catch it once more and prove itself to her master. As the cat reached out with claws extended she just brushed a nail along the grunnies fur before it scampered off into the distance-- and once more they faced a failure. They only hoped that they could find the damaged grunny for the next battle!

Her cat pushed itself up from the crouched position and signed, shaking its fur to straighten it before looking at its owner. The voice that came out of the cat was light, a purr mixed in with slight annoyance.

"This was your stupid idea, can't you catch anything? I can't believe you dragged me into this, I was so content where I was before" the unnamed cat hissed slightly before curling into a ball to clean herself.

Rai lay on the floor, clothes dirty and shoes unlaced and one laying a few inches from her foot as she sighed. Her body ached from constantly trying to catch these stupid creatures and she was wondering why she had thought herself able to do this in the first place. After having seen the poster at the cafe she realized she would probably have no chance in hell catching this because she was such a klutz. It was while on her way to school that she had seen this lovely creature prancing up and down along a thin wall that she saw everyday to school. The cat was graceful, and appeared proud and young, its white tail swishing in the air as it regarded a small grasshopper on the ledge. Rai watched in fascination as the cat leapt into the air, stylistic in nature and grabbed the insect into the cats mouth and swallowed--a small lunch for such a large creature.
Rai blinked a few times, an idea creeping into the back of her mind. If only she could swoon this cat somehow, clearly, if the cat helped her, she could catch the grunny. The cat had such an amazing talent; stealth and poise, that she was sure it would work.

She walked off, contemplating her plan before she went to school-- she would have to find ways in which to swoon this lovely cat. She only hoped it would be there later.

While thinking about the past that lead her up until this point Rai kept walking around aimlessly in the hopes of finding the injured grunny. All was silent except for the mutterings of a tired and annoyed kitten star that was behind her.
"Oh shush you" she said to the nameless kitty, yawning herself. She stretched her arms outwards and took a look at where she was-- which was no where she knew.

"Lost..." she muttered herself and would have continued the sentence had she not just spoted a grunny. Instead her body got into an instant battle pose, she crouched like a cat and watched the stupid grunny with wide eyes. Now knowing that sneaking up on it wasn't really the best approach for her she turned, grabbed her unsuspecting kitten star and launched it towards the grunny hoping for the best.

The cat flew true and landed on the grunny in a fiss of hisses and scratches, unsure of what it was doing minus having just been thrown a rather large distance. It growled as it was pushed over and the grunny leapt away, some fresh blood dripping on the floor. They had done damage.

"Really Rai?! That was SO uncalled for" the kitten hissed and instead of going after the grunny it sat down and started to lick its fur in an attempt to get the blood off.

"Go after it!" Rai yelled, too far away herself to catch up. She waited a moment and realized the cat wasn't going to move so she glanced around, found a rock and picked it up. She judged the distance and tried to chuck the rock at the grunny in hopes that she could knock it out-- but her rock flew too inches too far and missed the grunny who turned around stuck its tongue out and disappeared.

RP: Rai sighed as she starred at the rock that lay where the grunny was, having missed it. She scanned the area to try to find the gruny and blinked in suprise when she noticed it was laying underneath a branch that had fallen ontop of it. Not really her own doing that she could find, but she noticed the kitten star was sitting ontop the tree-- so the cat had one up'ed her again.

Rai wasn't happy, always being beat by this stupid feline. So she stood up and dusted herself off. She figured since the grunny was trapped underneath a branch she would have the chance to move towards it, catch it and then knock it unconscious to bring it back ... she paused. Back to where?

She thought this as she walked towards the grunny and without looking tripped over the branch, letting the creature free itself without doing any further damage. She was still too caught up in her thoughts to even notice that she was laying once more on the ground.

RP: She starred at the floor as she let out a faint sigh, tiredness seeping over her body when she thought about this stupid adventure she'd put herself through and wondered why once more as to how she got here.

Somehow she had managed to swoon a highstrung cat into helping her catch these stupid creatures so that she could gain a reward to help her parents, but this was something that was so unbefitting of a young girl who was growing up to be a lady. She turned over onto her bacfk and starred up at the sky, the thoughts of catching the grunnies totally slipping her mind as she simply recollected about her parents.

Hard working individuals who di-- her thoughts got interrupted once more as something green and fluffy was dropped onto her tummy, a cat tail swishing by her left ear before she blinked and shriked. Laying ontop of her was the unconscious grunny, a bit of blood dripping from its neck where some cat teeth indents where visible.
She pushed it off her body and flailed, trying to get the disgusting thing away from her as she watched the NKS roll its eyes at her femininity.

Rai walked towards the black door, glancing nervously from side to side as she hugged her jacket against her body, the bag over her shoulder twitching a bit as the grunny almost came to. She knocked on the door once, twice, then waited, frowning.

"This is it, right?" she asked the air, looking at the baren land before her, covered in light white snow and the trees hanging limply, frosted over and sleeping for the season.

She sighed, her breath coming in short puffs. Tapping her foot she turned, as she is rather impatient, and started to walk the other way, away from the door.

"Must be the wrong spot" she muttered to herself and nodded to the NKS who was watching her from a distance, its fur on edge.

Rai blinked, starring at the cat the same moment she heard a loud creeky noise. SHe glanced back behind her body and realized that the door had opened, and there stood a guy in a white jacket.

"HERE" she threw the bag at the guy without really thinking, watching it hit him and slide to the ground before she screetched and ran away, fear overtaking her.

She'd forgotten to collect her reward.

Rai huff and puffed, hands on knees, body bent as she tried to catch her breath from running. She sighed, shaking her head as she finally realized that in her fear she had forgotten to claim the reward.

"Stupid.."she whispered to herself before glancing up to see her cat hissing at something posted on the tree. She moved closer, looking at the sign

Wanted: "Man who fits this description, short, white jacket, beady looking eyes, brown hair, long nose.." the descriptions went on and on, but it was the ending that caught her attention most. "Wanted due to unlawful experimentations on grunnies"

Rai gasped, starring down at her cat. Not only had she just forgotten her reward, she had just helped a wanted criminal commit a crime.

In the lab the grunny shook from it's bag, the labtech frowning over the contents. He hoped it was dead but alive was okay too. He opened the bag cautiously but forgot to wear his mask and the moment the bag was opened something latched to his face and scratched him all over before running around in his lab.

Sweet revenge.

Rai sighed and then ran a hand through her hair. It had taken her a few days to convince herself that this was the best plan, to go after this wanted criminal, catch him and claim the even larger reward money while denying that she had helped him in the first place.

Once her mind was set she had worked about finding a way to catch the criminal. This wasn't like a grunny, she could'nt just throw her cat or rocks at it, in hopes that she could catch the little creature. No, for this she had to be a bit smarter... and her cat couldn't really help her there, as it was in the process of chasing a butterfly.

Rai pressed her face closer to the glass, starring into the dark contents of the room as she watched the labtech go about his work. She had been spying on him for the last few days, quietly gathering information. He appeared rather ritualistic, and she estimated it would only take a few seconds before he left his lab to go get dinner, giving her a chance to sneak in.

And indeed, on time he was. The moment he slipped out of the lab she snuck in slowly through the half cracked window, careful to be completely quiet. She worked fast, grabbing a bucket of water and putting it ontop of the door, giving it a slight crack to balance the contents. She then put some water on the floor and moved the labtechs table closer to the center of the room. She glanced down at her clock, one minute left.

She looked around, realizing she couldn't get out in time but noticing the door to the left. She moved towards it and opened it just as the main door opened and she heard a yelp as water and bucket crashed to the floor, a slippery sound as the man fell to the floor and smacked his body into the table, and unfortunately the sound of an alarm as she pushed the door further open to escape.

She had not counted on the lab actually having an alarm, though as it blared around the room she realized this was probably a really stupid assumption. She glanced back and realized the labtech was not there anymore and this only made her heart jump into her throat, lodging fear over her body. She whimpered, then decided to dash through the foor infront of her-- but instead her body collided straight with another and the two of them fell to the floor.

Rai flailed, not even looking at who she was laying ontop of, her arms smacking flesh and her feet digging into what felt like bone. She growled and hissed, her sounds almost cat like as she struggled to get up from the person that was holding her. After a moment she was able to dislodge herself with only a few growing bruises on her arms and legs and more curses from the thing below her.

As she got off the person it was also their chance to move up and try to pull away. Rai reached out in an attempt to grab the persons foot to pull them down, but she couldn't actually grab it and missed, cupping thin air instead. All the while she felt eyes on her and glanced back, her NKS just starring.

Rai sighed a bit as she watched her kitten then glanced at the person as he was moving to get away. An idea popped into her head and she moved quickly, sitting up and grabbing her cat. Bigger object she hoped meant that she would have better aim. Her cat in her hands she aimed, and threw, the cat hissing the whole way through.

She watched in glee as the cat sunk its nails into the pesons body and caused the person to scream, flail, hit a door and fall down unconscious.
