3 .no bribing, whining, complaining, crying, etc. in hopes of winning. we're all teens to adults here so lets act like it.
.contest rules.
1. .remember, i will state again, this is an rp contest. rping is the most important factor to this contest. .this hyena was gifted to us on the matter that Split wanted someone to RP this boy and give him life so I would appreciate it if the winner adheres to this. .besides which, the pride really needs some active members . . . please don't apply if you have no intention of RPing.
2. .i understand rl gets in the way of fun but we would prefer if people who do enter are willing to RP and help plot within the pride.
3. .this contest is open to anyone and everyone, no matter if they have Kitwana'antara members already or 800+ SoA or none at all.
4. .this hyena must stay and/or join the Kitwana'antara. .we ask you keep this hyena in the pride.
5. .please keep the history and rules of the pride in mind. the kitwana are different than most prides and, not only do they deal with some serious issues everyday, but they also have some tight rules on leaving the borders. please read up on the actual pride rules.
6. .we ask you don't edit your entry once you ship it out. we'll be reading the entries as we get them and chances are might not want to go back and reread every single one again.
7. .please be literate as well. you don't have to be a great rper but we do ask that you at least put some effort in to the prompts.
8. .have fun. this is supposed to be enjoyable for all.

There is a lot of information concerning the Kitwana'antara. For those of you who'd like the full scoop, please peruse the Pride Subforum here. .brief summery of the pride. The Kitwana'antara have never been large or dominating. They are located in a quiet valley with hills and more mountainous terrain to the east, and a larger lake to the west. They tend to be isolated and their numbers small due to a plague that keeps their lion count rather small. The plague is contagious only to lions and lion-hybrids. For lions who contract the disease it is always fatal, though some can fight it off or keep it at bay for many, many years. There are a small few who will become carriers of the disease, safe from its torment but a danger to other lions; and an even smaller few that are naturally immune. Because of this, the Kitwana'antara frequently rely on leopards, cheetahs, hyena's and any outsider help they can find. Familiars and non-lion species are welcome members to the pride - they are often nurses, hunters, nannies and protectors for those too sick. Furthermore, there is often a ban on lion-members leaving the borders. . . . Their disease is far too risky and to spread it would be horrible. To cause others to suffer from such an illness is not something the pride would ever do and as such only on rare occasion are lions allowed to leave the borders. Currently the pride has just gotten over a slew of hard times. A secondary plague hit all pride members, cuttng their numbers down significantly. On top of that, a war with a neighboring pride cut their numbers further, causing much distress and chaos in the lands. The old queen sacrificed herself in hopes of healing the God of Plagues wrath against her kind. This left her very young successor, Nawiri'chiwa to begin anew and lead the Kitwana'antara to renewed prosperity.

So people don't freak out, Split Personality got permission from Eskimo (who had given her this hyena over Christmas) to give to a pride of her choice to contest away. She wanted to make sure whoever got him would actually RP him and the Kitwana'antara were the lucky chosen pride! Bring Me To Life! This is the hyena that is up for grabs. He has no history, has no name, and is a completely blank slate. It is up to you to give him some life! Is he a rogue in search of a home? Was he born in to the pride? What's his life been like? This is mostly based on personality . . . .Remember, the plague the pride suffers from is only contagious to lions and lion-hybrids! If you'd like to give him some life, just fill out this form. Is he a new member or was he born in to it/long since joined? Joined when he was an adol.
His Personality: There is something sickly satisfying about the constant scent of death in the air. The wheezing of the felines, the blood, the pain... it all brings a pleasing shudder for the Hyena. He hates himself for what he is, and what he thinks towards the lions. It's as if there's a battle raging inside him, and he's losing the war against his grotesque nature. Donto is generally cold towards the lions, snapping cruel insults, and avoiding them whenever they appeared... though only because he doesn't want to get close... 'cause he knows his desperate dependence on friends is his greatest weakness. Though, with all of the effort he puts into keeping them away, he can't help himself but offer a warm nuzzle for a sobbing lion.
Towards the other species of the pride, he's much less cruel. Though he's still considerably distant, he figures they hate him as much as he hates himself. He still struggles with his "other" side, the side that craves death. He thinks he's going crazy... but if he recovers from it, he may attempt to take up a rank as a nanny or a healer. But it could just get worse, it all depends!
His History: Donto's original clan died from the famine. He and his younger siblings travelled around, desperately searching for food... but they eventually died of hunger. Donto almost gave up before he found the Kitwana.

Is he a new member or was he born in to it/long since joined? He's joined recently.
His Personality: Penitent, Simphewe blames almost everything that goes wrong on himself and is always eager to try and "fix" what goes wrong. He's constantly repaying the pride for the wrong they don't know about, and constantly on guard to make sure no one else does anything bad, like he did.
His History: He wasn't always called Simphewe, and he wasn't always a particularly decent guy. He did some bad things. Actually, he did a lot of bad things.
One of the things was that he took a young female hyena from her home, a pride full of lazy, diseased lions that expected other creatures to take care of them, and brought her with him to keep him company. She wanted to go back - she was friends with some of the lions, and they needed her - but he wouldn't let her. He kept her with him.
After a few months, she grew sick. It wasn't the same disease, but he didn't know what to do. And he had grown fond of her (he didn't believe in love). He missed her jokes and her wistfulness and he hated the hacking cough that always beset her.
He tried to return her to her pride, where surely there would be a healer that could help her. But he did it too late. She died, less than two days out from the pride's borders. He returned, to see if she had any family left, so he could tell them that she was gone.
Instead, he found himself one of the few hyenas in the pride. Plague and famine had been there while they were gone, and the pride was struggling. He resolved to stay, and try and help the pride his little love had loved so much. He gave himself a new name, and has tried to put his life back together.
Occasionally, when he can get a way with it or if he has permission to go a bit outside the borders, he visits the spot where she died, even though scavengers have long since disposed of her remains.
