My Nintendo DS Lite has been acting somewhat wonky, for example I put in a DS game it says the card isn't inserted and so I have to blow out the cartridge slot several times if that's not working I have to turn it off and on again several times. Another example is the DS would shut off without the battery being low on power nor did I hit the power switch. My question is this, should I get a new DS Lite or stick with the one I have, and what's your opinion?

... I don't have any intention of getting a 3ds at the moment so please don't suggest I get one, and I have a PSP too so don't suggest that either. I take rather good care of my system.

You should stick with yours, and find someone to repair it. I know some people who can repair minor damages to small consoles for about 20$ -30$

Personally I would want to upgrade to the 3DS is my DS was wonkey, but if you have no intentions of getting one.....

You could either work with what you've got,
Buy a new DS,
or you could get a DSi or DSi XL.

I would probably ask someone who is really good with this kind of stuff.

(I keep dropping my DS and so far-knock on wood- it still works find xd )

It seems to me the answer is anything built after 1987 has been built to last a year and a half (seriously, how long has it been until your computer is outdated? if you answered instantaneous, you are correct.) is meant to crap out on you.

my suggestion is Maximize your enjoyment of your system.
attach a half stick (available at any Indiana back alley) and enjoy.

Personally, I'd wait. I also have a DS Lite that's not in the best of shape. I'd keep it until it completely breaks, or get it fixed. And I wouldn't get a 3DS, but that's my bias opinion since I tried one out at Gamestop and i didn't like it. I mean really, who only plays a handheld game for half an hour? Not me! xD
Plus, if you really want a 3DS, you should wait for the price to drop a bit. :]

It might be best to take it to someone who can fix it. If not then play it till it craps out and get a new one. {The price of the 3DS has dropped considerably from the time you posted so I suggest taking a look at it as a potential candidate for your replacement. But its only a suggestion if you're still bent on not getting a 3DS.}
