There is a lot of information concerning the Kitwana'antara. For those of you who'd like the full scoop, please peruse the Pride Subforum

.brief summery of the pride.
The Kitwana'antara have never been large or dominating. They are located in a quiet valley with hills and more mountainous terrain to the east, and a larger lake to the west. They tend to be isolated and their numbers small due to a plague that keeps their lion count rather small.
The plague is contagious only to lions and lion-hybrids. For lions who contract the disease it is always fatal, though some can fight it off or keep it at bay for many, many years. There are a small few who will become carriers of the disease, safe from its torment but a danger to other lions; and an even smaller few that are naturally immune.
Because of this, the Kitwana'antara frequently rely on leopards, cheetahs, hyena's and any outsider help they can find. Familiars and non-lion species are welcome members to the pride - they are often nurses, hunters, nannies and protectors for those too sick. Furthermore, there is often a ban on lion-members leaving the borders. . . . Their disease is far too risky and to spread it would be horrible. To cause others to suffer from such an illness is not something the pride would ever do and as such only on rare occasion are lions allowed to leave the borders.
Currently the pride has just gotten over a slew of hard times. A secondary plague hit
all pride members, cuttng their numbers down significantly. On top of that, a war with a neighboring pride cut their numbers further, causing much distress and chaos in the lands. The old queen sacrificed herself in hopes of healing the God of Plagues wrath against her kind. This left her very young successor, Nawiri'chiwa to begin anew and lead the Kitwana'antara to renewed prosperity.
.brief summery of the family.
The Mother: - played by Uta
Yejide has always been a bit of an aloof creature. She was raised with her sister, and had to learn how to live life on the savanna the hard way. For a long time she thought the world might be against her, but her sister and she managed, and together they got along just fine. Unfortunately for Yejide, her sister became injured during a hunt and though they did the best in keeping the wound clean, it grew infected, and her sister died. There is a regret within the orange females eyes, because all of her life she had mistrusted the intentions of a pride, had mistrusted others and didn't want to share her sister. After the death of her sister, Yejide quietly wondered if her siblings death could have been prevented had she been open to the idea of a pride.
It is a regret she will keep secret but hold deeply. It is also part of the reason she so willingly joined the Kitwana'antara. She is only a recent member (she still needs her JRP's, heh) and regrets bringing cubs in to the world of the sick. She never thought she'd grow close enough to someone for a mate, and certainly didn't think a small tryst would result in cubs. She had joined the diseased prides so she might redeem herself in the eyes of the spirits, might redeem herself for the loss of her sister. But she joined without realization that she'd been pregnant.
Yejide can be cautious and coy, a bit shy and hard to get close to, but she is a diligent worker and a solid healer. She will be mighty protective of all of her cubs, and hopes to have a strong relationship with all of them.
The Father: - played by Uta
Jawara has no idea that he is now a father. He met Yejide while roaming, a lifestyle he has almost always known since his escape from his former pride. A bit of a hippie, this lion could easily be a warrior due to his size, but is the most gentle creatures on the savanna. He doesn't exactly condone violence and prefers to make love, not war.
After spending some time with Yejide, the black lioness eventually took her leave from him. He was disappointed, but he knew that she had her own agenda and he wasn't on her list. So, he has continued to roam, and will likely not become aware of the Kitwana'antara, much less his own children anytime soon.
The Brother: - Played by Velveteen Angel
