Hello, thank-you for visiting Team Breast. I'm AquaticPisces, your team
captain. Thank-you (again) for taking the time to visit the thread. Here's a
few things about me. Well, first off, my name is Regine. I live in Toronto,
Canada and I'm 15 years old. I promise you, I won't let all of you down as
team captain. I may be young...probably the youngest team captain on
here, but I'm also very tough. I wanted to be team captain for this year's
TDM event because, so many people, die from
cancer, and I'm supporting to find a cure to stop cancer, those who are
going through it right now or lost a loved one because of cancer.

ABOUT BREAST CANCER

What is breast cancer?
The breast covers a large area extending up the collarbone and from the armpit to the breastbone.
Usually breast cancer starts in the cells of the lobcules (milk producing glands of the breast),
or the ducts (thin tubes that drain milk from the lobscule to the n****e),
less commonly breast cancer can occur in the stromal tissues of the
breast. The breast also contains lymph nodes and lymph vessels,
which are partof the lymphatic system (the lymphatic system helps fight infections).
Over a period of time, cancer cells can invade healthy breast tissue and
eventually make their way into the underarm lymph nodes. If the cancer cells get
into the lympth nodes, they then have a pathway to other parts of the body.

How to prevent breast cancer?
-Be physcally active
Research shows that being physically active for at least 30-45 minutes a
day can lower your risk of breast cancer by 20-40% than those who are inactive.
-Eat a cancer prevention diet
To prevent breast cancer, eat a healthy diet. By eating more
phytonutrients (plant nutrients) such as highly nutritious vegetables,
fruit, whole grains, seeds, nuts, beans
and the food mention below focuses on preventing cancer.
●High Fiber Foods can help decrease cancer-causing forms of
estrogen in your bloodstream by 54%.
Examples of these kinds of foods include fresh fruits,
whole grains, beans and vegetables that rich
with carotenoid, flavonoid and cruciferous phytonutrients
●Soybeans and other soy products, such as tofu, miso
and tempeh have been shown to lower the risk of
cancer, but avoid highly sweetened
and refined soy product, such as
soymilk and soy oils.
●Allium Vegetables, such as
garlic, onions and leek have been known to
help neutralize cancer-causing free radicals
and preventing cancer cells from multiplying.
There are the best foods to eat to prevent breast cancer.
-Maintain a healthy body weight
Studies have shown that excess body weight
is a risk factor of breast cancer, BUT research also shows
that intake of highly refined carbohydrates, sugary drinks and
glycemic sweets, tend to lead in being overweight.
-ELIMINATE or LIMIT the consumption of alcohol.
Studies have shown
that people that drink two or more alcohol beverages a day,
develop breast cancer at a higher than those, who
don't drink alcohol at all.
-DON'T smoke or inhale it!
Women who smoke or are expose to second-hand
smoke are up to 40% more likely to develop breast cancer.
-Reduce the exposure of carcinogens.
-Avoid food that causes cancer, unnecessary x-rays, taking
hormone replacement therapy, inhaling or come in contact with
insecticide, herbicides and other carcinogens.
-REDUCE the intake of fat and EAT healthy fats.
Diets that are high in fat, even trans fat, is linked to a higher rate
of breast cancer. (Reduce overall fat to 25-30% of calories)
Eliminate trans fat, reduce the consumption of
saturated fats and increase your intake of omega 3 fish oil.
-TAKE high quality of nutritional supplements.
To prevent other diseases and breast cancer, you need supplements
such as all the esstenial vitamins and minerals, particularly for
reducing breast cancer are vitamins A, D, E, cruciferous and omega
3 fish oil.
