Fiamma had been training, working to put her pent up energy to good use, and she'd seen something that caught her eye. Two lions, a brother and a sister who were sparing on multiple occasions. Fiamma wanted to fight them, to learn from them to improve her own skills as a fighter and to be a better soldier. The flame marked lioness was following the large black and orange lion into the desert, her feet passing through the sand with ease. Finally, not really needing to gain the courage to talk to him she called out. "Hey, I need to talk to you!" "I want to train with you, and that sister of yours."

Chaka had spent the morning wandering around on his own, not doing anything in particular. He wasn't particularly social but he did get a kick out of watching the others in the pride sometimes. He'd made some amusing observations and was headed out to look for Shisa to chat about it, or possibly wander around or spar with her.. or it could be all three, they didn't often mind keeping busy.
He was oblivious to Fiamma's presence until she started closing in on him. It was hard to notice you were being followed from a distance but eventually it became undeniable even to him. He didn't particularly care, though, until she called out. And then he stopped and turned around. He looked indifferent until she said she wanted to train with him an his sister.
How very direct. It deserved a direct response.
"What if I said no?"

No? What if he said No? That wasn't an option, Fiamma's mind swirled around the possibilities, no..was not an acceptable response. The Firekin had not phrased her demands as a question, she had used a tone of command with him.
"But you must," her voice fell flat, is was if she had already seen what would happen, she would train with the siblings and then became an even greater fighter and win many fights and spars, and become the best. In her false premonition she saw herself gaining the respect of others, and being praised for her achievements.
Angered at his retort she lunged forward her claws extended, not thinking about exactly what she was aiming for or how her body would land.

Despite the situation they were in, Chaka was mildly impressed that her approach to this was forceful. Not that it was entirely unexpected in a pride full of prideful warriors, aggression was most often rewarded. Especially when it was constructive, and you could definitely call this constructive. The most obvious downside to what Fiamma did, of course, was her lack of focus- something Chaka had worked hard to overcome so far. He leaped back and out of her immediate line of attack.
"You'll have to impress me if you want to convince me," he called, grinning.

Fiamma let out a roar, it wasn't one of frustration, but something more or less like her own personal battle cry. She was sure she would impress him with her ferocity and then he would have to agree to allow her to train with them. Grunting she skirted to the left, and lashed out at him with her claws, aiming high up,nearly near the shoulder of his front. It was perhaps an odd move, but her rational was wanting to harm him, she did not care how.
Being forceful and direct were her tactics, if it wasn't evident in the way she spoke, it was more evident in her actions.

Chaka was caught off-guard by the simple and precise movement and before he could jump out of the way her was struck with sharp claws across the shoulder and into his chest. It was lucky for him he had a mane to protect him but as he pulled away in late effort to evade, small tufts of dark hair were left in her claws and the sharp pain seemed to shoot through his whole side, making him stumble.
"Better," he said, pushing himself back a couple more steps before starting to circle around- clearly she'd put him on his guard now, "Why do you want to train with us?"
What had brought this on?

"I've seen you, in order to get become a better fighter I need to train with others who are good." She could have requested to train with her siblings, or with Kali's children but they had all been raised with similar fighting styles, yes they had personal styles. However, their trainers had all been the same two lionesses. And for the most part Fiamma wasn't all that great at what she did, the red lioness became frustrated easily and was unable to think rationally after her emotions were brought into it. It would be easy for her siblings to pick up on that.
"I need someone good," she said again, "someone better than me," She'd seen the way the larger lion moved, he was obviously well trained. And it did not hurt her pride to say he was better, it was truth.
Fiamma watched him as he circled around her, and trying to lead -like hunters watch ducks she attempted to pounce on the area that he would move to next.

She was honest and flattering, two ways to get on Chaka's good side. He had a fair ego on him, he enjoyed hearing when others noticed he was good. It was nearly enough to distract him, but it was another thing he had practiced with Shisa. Distraction was another problem he'd had, something he'd worked on.. and if anything was most distracting, it was her appearance.
"You look familiar," he said, just before she made her move. He pushed himself to a sudden halt and just got out of the way, whirling around and changing direction he was circling to get away- hopefully before she recovered.
"I was apprenticed to Azula when I was small," he said, "You can't be one of her children."
He knew Azula had offspring, but they were not this young.. were they?

Fiamma exhaled at the exertion the miss put on her body, landing oddly in the sand, lion paws apparently were not good shock absorbers. It forced one of her paws to drop oddly and she winced at the pain that shot up and through her body.
Regaining her stance and testing the wait on her paw she turned to follow him, her red eyes tracing the path he took. How was she going to make an attack that was worthy to impress him.
"That's my father's mother, I do not know her very well." For the most part she only knew of the Officer. "Stop trying to distract me with words, at least fight back, give me more of a challenge..a chance to impress you."
She lurched for him, blindly, angry that he would not attack, she was just a little too slow to actually land a blow. Her claws were extended and she aimed for anything, just rushing forward.

"Oh, well that's that, then," he said thoughtfully, pausing in his movement when Fiamma revealed her connection to Azula. So he hadn't been wrong to notice the similarity, around here with such large and wide bloodlines.. he could easily have been wrong. It felt good to be right sometimes.
"It shouldn't matter what I'm doing," he responded, cutting his comment short as she charged at him yet again- and he dodged, darting away from her and circling back behind her.
"You should be able to do something."

Fiamma was enraged, feeling that she was in fact doing something, she was waiting for him to counter her attacks, to give her a fight. Fiamma wasn't a miserable fighter, she was just easily frustrated and her temper got the better of her. There was a lot of pressure to be the best of the best, and it seemed the red lioness did not deal with it well.
She turned her body to face him again and feigned charging to the left and at the last minute changed her direction to attack his left shoulder. She was using her teeth this time, weakly biting at his leg. This could possibly put her in harms way, putting herself too close to him, and allowing him to attack. But he wasn't fighting anyway, he was just talking, she could at least try to make him bleed - to antagonize him to fight.

While Fiamma made her tactics more elaborate, Chaka stuck with the same old circle. He wasn't sure what to expect from her, he was sure Shisa would have had her figured out by now but he couldn't do it. Still, he was on guard but not as ready as he could be. When she attacked, he wasn't ready to dodge and he felt her teeth sinking in through his fur. He had to react now and he had to do it fast.
With a growl, he leaned against her face, trying to push her away and off of him and very suddenly reached out with his left leg (however awkwardly where she was so close) and swiped out at her legs, hoping to knock her off her feet.

Tally: Chaka 11, Fiamma 9. He wins!
Fiamma skidded backwards trying to stay standing in the sand, she fumbled and her feet fell out from underneath of her. The red lioness had literally 'bit the dust' nearly face planting into the sand. Grumbling she glared at him and shifted her position into one that was sitting. At least he made a move.
"Just train with me, I'll give you permission to do as much damage as you can, I don't care. It will make you stronger getting to beat on someone, learn someone else's tactics. I was trained by Mahaali and my mother Lakeisha, both are great fighters, and although I am not the perfect example of their skills, I know some of their fighting styles." It was practically a beg, something she was sure her mother wouldn't approve of. Fiamma knew she wasn't exactly on par with others her age. But it took all kinds, and her rage could go both ways, it could hinder her, or give her the advantage she needed, the drive to continue.

Chaka ignored the pain in his leg as Fiamma was forced to release him and he backed himself up, knowing he'd won whatever this was, if you could even really call it a duel.. the begging was not very impressive but it was intriguing.
"I'll see what Shisa has to say about it," he said after an intense moment of critical staring. He was obviously interested enough, at least, to not flat out deny it. He truthfully wasn't sure what Shisa would say, and it would matter what she said. After that, though, he had nothing else to say and he turned his back to her, marching off- more intent on finding his sister now than before.
