Little Nur'yu stretched and yawned; the fiery wings emblazoned upon his back seeming to glow under the touch of the sun. He was growing, slowly but surely, and someday soon, he'd be expected to take an apprenticeship that would - eventually - spell out his future for him. In his head, he wanted to be a warrior. A lion who could defend himself and others. A lion who could fight. A warrior in the Firekin was a respected and valued member. And yet, in his heart of hearts, he wasn't sure whether that was the path for him.
He took after his grandfather in that sense. Calm and level-headed, preferring to use words than his claws.
But...what could he possibly grow to become if he did not find a career in the army? He did not know. Perhaps he ought to talk to someone about it before it got too late.
In any case, today was the day that his mother had promised to teach them about duelling. She was exceptional at it herself and Nur'yu was proud to have a warrior mother who could beat up even the strongest of the boys! He was rather eager to see her in her element and see whether this might be something that would capture his interest in the future.

Kakek was also pretty excited for getting out of the den and seeing his mother duel. Not only that but he was also excited because this was going to possibly be his teacher that was just as exciting or possibly even more. He wasn't that sure what was going to happen durning this day but he could hardly sleep the night before because of it. He really could hardly wait. He heard his brother stir and his eyes snapped open once again and he looked over at his brother and grinned. "Are we ready to go?" He squeaked with a happy voice pushing himself up on his legs.
He looked toward the front of the den he knew his mother couldn't be that far away he could smell her. He thought that it was early he was pretty happy to get going very happy to get going and get out of the den. "I think mom is waiting. He very clearly was excited and ready to go he was wide awake and very aware of that.
Azar was up too. Sitting in the front of the den flicking her tail around idly she knew that most of the cubs would stay sleeping while they were at and she knew not -too- long after they left a nanny would show up she asked to have one come visit but she was excited to go she really wanted to get her dueling done, she LOVED to duel more then anything else. And shoowing her cubs the strings made it even more exciting.

Nur'yu turned his head in Kakek's direction and nodded vigorously. "Ready! Let's go!" He moved across to his brother, careful not to step on any tails or paws of his sleeping siblings and then gave Kakek a small nudge. "This should be fun!" Then, with a small grin, he scrambled up and out of the den, running straight into his mother's hind-quarters, stumbling back a step.
"Oops..."
Side-stepping, the cub moved around into the sunlight and beamed up at Azar. "Are we going, Mum? Are we? Are we?"

Azar blinked as she felt something run into her hind quarters. She turned around and looked behind her and then smiled as she noticed the two cubs scampering to a stop. "Good morning little ones." She purred quietly before leaning over and nuzzling the two cubs. She wasn't sure how the growing cubs felt about nuzzling their mother but she didn't care she loved giving them attention she loved giving it to all of her cubs.
"Yeah mom are we going? The cub looked up he hoped that he wouldn't annoy his mother with his wanting to go right now attitude but at the same time to a point he didn't care. He was ready to see the duel. This guy might become a teacher for him! Azar couldn't help but to chuckle and nod nudging the cubs before she started to wander toward the spot she told the male she'd meet him at. "Keep up!" She called out to the two cubs.

Nur'yu was more than happy to receive his mother's affections, not yet big enough to worry about being 'babied' by her. He leaned into her attentions, purring lightly. His eyes were bright and filled with excitement. Then, when it became clear that their mother was more than ready to lead them across to the meeting point, he bounded across to run at her side. The desert sand was more of a hindrance to the cub with his shorter legs, but he tried not to let it show as he fought to keep up.
Nur'yu was an average sized Firekin for his age. Larger than a rogue, but certainly not one of the largest cubs. He could have become anything he wanted to be, of this he was certain. He just wished he knew what that path was! He hoped, desperately, that today would either confirm his path or at least rule one option out.
Heti, luckily, was already there, having arrived just moments before. Now he was sitting, waiting, turning his head to see their approach. His dark-striped pelt blazed under the sun and he stood, shaking any trace of dust from his fur and turning to greet them. He, too, had his reputation to think about.

Azar looked at the small cub, she smiled as she noticed Nur'yu returning the affections. This made her pretty happy, she leaned more and licked the top of his head. "I'm glad to see you two awake and ready to go." She grinned ear to ear, the meeting was originally only for Kakek however she was glad to Nur excited to go too. She loved seeing her cubs interested in their future, she knew when she was younger that was one of the first things that she wanted to do.
"Keep up.' She reminded once again as she trotted quickly heading toward the meeting place for the day. She slowed down as she got closer knowing that she would soon be running across the male she told that she would meet here. She grinned and nodded to the cubs. "Hello there Heti!" She chirped giving the male a friendly nod. "The cubs are very excited for today." She noted as she nodded again at the male.
Kakek looked up at the male curiously taking in his size again. This made him happy. He was excited to see what the male could do. It was nice and he was glad that this male was going to possibly be his teacher.

"Morning Azar." He threw a small grin at the boys and stretched, warming up for their duel. He was a good natured lion who, unlike his father, tended to be more teasing and less sincere in any insults he threw. His father had...far less tact than he...
"We'd best put on a good show then, mm?" He took his position and waited for the cubs to settle, giving Azar a nod to show that he was ready when she was.
Nur'yu, with a chirp of glee, scuttled to watch from the sidelines, plopping himself down and casting a quick glance between the pair.
This should be interesting...

Azar let out a chuckle and then nodded at the male. "As ready as possible." She motioned toward the sidelines letting them know that they should go off to the side and make sure that they are out of the way enough so they cannot get trampled or hurt she really didn't like the idea of that happening. She wiggles her toes before turning back to the male.
She extended her paws and then mocked charged the male before side stepping and starting to circle around the male she was starting to get ready to duel and she was excited and ready to go.
Kakek sat down next to his brother and whipped his tail around wildly he was ready to see what was going to go on he loved watchin duels and seeing his mother duel and not only that but also seeing his possible teacher duel against him was one of the most exciting things ever.

As a guard, Heti was more into a good defence. Thus, he had set himself squarely in the sand to prepare for her initial attack.
Even still, not wanting to be shown up by a fighter, the mock challenge had Heti react offensively rather than take the defensive. He fully meant to meet her headlong and was thus surprised when he realised she'd faked the attack.
As she circled he used his weight to continue his momentum, spinning around to keep her in his line of sight and sending out a plume of golden sand. In the same move, he fixed his hind paws to the ground and sprung at her, lowering a head to barrel into her.

Azar was slightly caught off guard as the other barreled into her. She was used to dueling with her sister who was also a guard. She was used to the way the other guards that she dueled fought however he was different and it really surprised her. She had to rework her entire plans, she thought it would be a little upsetting if she lost in front of her cubs but yet at the same time she didn't completely mind. She knew losing happened some times. However on the other hand she knew that it would be proving the worth of the lion that could have been teaching her son.
She reached a paw out as she stood by him trying to return a hit on the male however on the other hand it appeared as if that wasn't about to happen. She grunted as she reached it out knowing that it appears not to work but the rush of the first few moves confused her in a way.

He leapt away from her attack just in time, feeling the shift in the air as her paw narrowly missed landing a strike. Phew! He silently reminded himself that he needed to be more careful! Dancing away, he strengthened his posture again, trying to regain control of himself.
He was eager to attack, but his strength lay in defence. He should let her come to him.
"That was way too close." He grinned, steadying himself in the sand and waiting for her next move.

The answer to the male's comment was returned with a laugh. "Thats just the start." She answered with a gruff tone as she pulled herself back together thinking about what she was to do next. She flicked her tail around behind her in a agitated way. She moved to the side of him baring her teeth at the male letting out a low growl.
She was teasing him in a way, luring him closer to her she had an idea of what to do, charging him didn't work so there had to be a different way that she could get this to work. She was hoping anyway, she was wondering how her plan was going to work, well hopefully.

With a small smirk he waited just a moment longer before wondering whether he shouldn't have another go at attacking. It had worked the last time and she probably wasn't expecting it. So...
Here goes nothing, he thought to himself and, with a toothy grin, he charged forwards, lowering his head once again so that he might use his weight to flip her onto her side and take his place as victor!!
Sadly, his charge was not going to go according to plan...

Azar felt a little more confident as the male missed a strike on her. She growled and then moved away as quickly as she could. She leaned forward and tried to return strike on the male tried her hardest but found herself missing the side of the male that she was trying to aim at.
She was about to get angry but she calmed herself and she found herself letting out a laugh, she couldn't help it. "Well, we're both off today." She commented as she recovered from the missed strike that she tried to leave on the male. She tried to move herself quickly again trying to move away from him trying her hardest to stay out of his reach as much as possible until she wanted to strike him.

He bounced back, increasing the gap between them and threw a laugh her way. "Looks like we could both do with a bit of practise." He cast a sidelong look at the cubs and hoped that they were enjoying the show, even if they weren't learning very much.
Then, with a soft snort, he braced himself against the sand and waited. "Make your move, Azar." He challenged.
Nur'yu was indeed having fun. Seeing his mother duel with the guard was fabulous! She was so strong and brave! A true, fierce warrior! He gave his brother a small shove to indicate that he was enjoying watching how the duel played out and wondered who was coming out on top so far.
