User ImageAneesia had managed to run away from Phle's den while he was out, but she knew she wouldn't free for long. Phle's Niece, Gentha, had made it her personal mission to keep her Uncle's baby-maker in pride, despite her numerous attempts to leave. Aneesia would escape, Gentha would hunt her a** down and drag her back kicking and screaming. That was the routine for the last several weeks.

Winded from her running, Aneesia managed to stumble into a clearing where she decided to take a rest. She could feel her heart beating out of her chest, and her lungs hurt from the sheer force of her run. She hadn't done that much fast-paced running in quite some time. She hadn't done anything that physical in quite some time.

It just so happened that the specific clearing in which Aneesia had taken refuge was already harboring a guest- and a rather large one at that. Fleance startled awake when he heard running and panting and heartbeats and leapt from the center of the clearing to the thicker bushes nearby to see what had run his way. Had Gentha come hunting for him? She was a rather brutish sort of lioness, but the raw and bestial attraction between them was intoxicating. She was nothing like his gentle swamp mate or the lioness from the pride that was a little… off. And she was certainly nothing like the poor blind lioness that he had recently borne cubs with. He'd left two of his sons with that lioness, Kiibazi was her name. He couldn't stand to see a blind mortal and mother of his children defenseless, so he left her with the protection of two seers- perhaps their extra Sight would make up for her lacking.

But Gentha, oh she was different. He was rather scared of her in some way, so he had been lurking nearby the borders of the Aikanaro'hini. With any luck she would bear cubs soon. Maybe he had gone wrong with his previous sorts of mates. Even the seer children of a seer weren't proving much use to him, and perhaps with the infusion of such vicious blood he'd get what he wanted…

But right now, he just didn't want to be attacked and torn to shreds. Some demons and demonesses had been close to the god's trail, but with his immortal powers he had escaped them. But now, looking in the center of the clearing, he saw the ashy footprints that pointed directly to where he hid. He groaned and sighed, figuring himself given up. But when a white lioness appeared, his ears perked forward quizzically. He'd learned a little bit of the demon culture in his time on the borders and some of the demons themselves. With a coat this pale, she had to be a slave! And if she was running like this- she must be trying to escape!

Aneesia collapsed into the clearing's grasses, not noticing the trail of ash that littered some of the green. Her pink eyes scanned the land trying to spot anything nearby, but she didn't see Fleance in his hiding space. It was far too dark to spot him, but she was easily spottable. Her black blended into the night, but her white simply glowed in the moon's light. Her light pink eyes also caught moonlight.

Contented with her visual sweep, Aneesia closed her eyes and laid her head down quietly. She would rest for a little, at least until her heart stopped bursting through her chest. Once it settled she'd take off again, and hopefully be free of this place.

User ImageFleance tilted his head curiously and took a step closer to the resting female. Should he ask her why she was running? Should he take her back and turn her in to Gentha? His ears were flat against his head and he knew he could never turn her in. He'd never commit anyone to such a miserable existence. He was well aware, however, of how close they both were to the territories and that a scout or her master would probably soon follow looking for her.

He approached her from the side and, humbly, he prodded her side gently. "You'd better keep running if you ever hope to escape."

Aneesia jumped when she was prodded, her hackles raised and she instinctually hissed as she jumped up, stumbling over her own feet and hitting the ground once again. She breathed heavily and peeked up at who had prodded her, pink eyes wide. When she caught sight of the exceptionally large male, she thought she had been caught by them and simply covered her head as if she was preparing for some sort of incoming beating. She had not seen Fleance's wings, nor heard the words he spoke.

"No heet! No heet!" She cried, her eyes squeezed shut and her paws protecting her head. She feared being beaten about her head. She could no longer hear and relied heavily on her sight. It was one thing she simply could not lose.

Fleance was rather hurt at her reaction. He wasn't mean or scary or fierce. Oh! Maybe she interpreted his words as a threat! He grimaced and tried to explain himself. "Uhm, ah, oh- I-I I'm not a demon!" He shook his head and fluttered his wings restlessly. He sighed at her reaction and the look on his face was of genuine concern.

When she exclaimed for him not to hit her, his heart sank even further and he felt all the worse. "No, I wouldn't hit you, never!" He moaned and placed his paw in a reassuring manner on one of her shoulders. He took a few steps back and sat down. "I-I'm sorry…"

His words fell on deaf ears, both rhetorically and literally. Aneesia's only reaction to his display was when he placed a paw on her shoulder, which she initially was going to flinch for but realized what the gesture was. She hadn't felt a gesture like that in some time, and her only remembrance of it was its interpretation for concern. Was he concerned about her? What demon would feel concern for a slave? None... Perhaps... another slave?

Aneesia lowered a paw from her head to peek over at the large male she had run into, finally noticing the large wings on his body. Her eyes went wide and her jaw dropped a little. He was no demon and he was no slave. The male sitting before her, with concern in his eyes was a god. The first and only god Aneesia had ever seen in her life. When she could hear, she had heard of them and believed in them, but despite her believe she didn't actually know they were real.

"God..." She uttered, "You are god?"

She was stunned.

Fleance perked back up when she noticed he was a god. He nodded and stood back up. Hopefully she would be put at ease. For a god, he looked friendly enough, too. Big, yes, but fluffy and with feathery wings. He had no demonic horns or leathery wings or fierce accessories adorning him from past fights and battles. No, he was simple and kind-looking enough. He didn't yet realize that the female couldn't hear him, so he spoke again.

"I'm Fleance, I'm the God of Ashes. You don't have to be afraid of me, I'm just worried about you because of the demons. You have to be careful, especially if you're trying to run away." His heart went out to her and he considered helping her, but if he did, he'd never be able to tell Gentha. He shuddered at the thought.

Anessia began to read his lips and found herself quickly growing agitated. He spoke far too quickly for her, or mumbled making his lips hard to distinguish between words. All she had managed to catch was 'Fleance', 'careful' and 'run away'. She grimaced, before her brows furrowed and she huffed audibly at him.

"Shlow down! Cahn't wead yo'r lips!" She stated, as clear as she could. When she was frustrated, her focus shifted from speaking clearly to simply speaking her mind and often times her speech deteriorated until it was incoherent and she seemed a little on the crazed side.

"I deaf. Cahn't hear," She explained, sighing heavily before placing a paw to her chest, "I Aneeshia."

Fleance felt so embarrassed. He hadn't noticed she was deaf, but it would make sense. Her responses weren't that of someone who could hear. Oh he was dumb. He blushed, but she couldn't see it, and he cleared his throat to speak louder. He placed his paw to his chest in the same way she had introduced herself. "Fleance. God of Ashes. Are you running away from the demons?" He gestured towards the pride and his gaze lingered, as though trying to see if any demons were coming after Aneesia.

"You need to be careful."

"Always found," Aneesia said, her ears flattening against her head momentarily. She was always found. The fact that Gentha hadn't caught up to her here after such a long time meant that she was waiting for her at the border. She always thought one step ahead of Aneesia, and it was always too late that Aneesia realized it.

"Prob'ally wait at border," She sighed quietly. "Tricked her'. I don't know why. Cahn't hear. Cahn't hunt."

Fleance tilted his head. "…Who will be waiting at the border?" His brows furrowed. Would there be demons waiting to recapture and punish her? He couldn't let that happen. "Do you need to go back?" He felt terrible, but realistically he didn't feel that he could take her with him… Well, he probably could, but he had two cubs to look after. Yoshi watched them while he was away- or he could leave them with his brother or sister or Ninon, so Aneesia would only be another mouth to feed.

He gently placed his paw on her shoulder. "If you have to go back, I can escort you. I'll make sure no one hurts you."

"Phle Niece," Aneesia said with a sigh, frowning once more. "Big butt an' big nose in bisness. All the time."

"I jus' want leave," Aneesia said with a heavy sigh. She wanted out. She was confused, enraged. It was even Phle who was keeping her here. It was everyone else and Gentha. Stupid Gentha. Her and her big butt feeling as if it was her duty to keep her Uncle's useless slave around. Aneesia was pretty sure Phle wouldn't even miss her if she was gone, what with his little monsters running around. So why did it matter?

Fleance sighed. He didn't want to try to talk Aneesia into going back to the pride, but even here in the clearing the scent of demons was thick. He knew in his heart that Aneesia would perish slowly and painfully if she were forever on the run from the demons- and he knew that the demons were relentless. The paw on her shoulder gently nudged, lightly, gently. "I'll go with you, Aneesia. No one will hurt you."

He wished he could talk Gentha into showing her some kindness, but he knew the demoness would never listen to him or go against her fierce demon nature.

"Thank you," She said quietly, wondering if he even heard her speak. She was unable to gauge her voice most of the time, and the only way she could calculate the volume of her voice was through the vibrations in her throat. They were barely present, so she was unsure if he heard her.

Aneesia got up off the ground and began to follow after the God, hoping he could help her cross over unscathed. She had no idea that Fleance knew Gentha, or had slept with Gentha. She didn't know how much the lioness had put the fear into him, and that once they managed to get to the border he'd bolt. She was simply glad that he was helping her out.

The end.
