Afternoon practice with Shisa was a very common occurrence for the large firekin but there was something strange that had broken up his routine lately. He'd dueled Matemoto, but that wasn't entirely strange, he and Shisa enjoyed sparring with their siblings and helping them improve, too.. but he'd nearly forgotten to bring up the most interesting thing that had happened recently. The encounter with Fiamma had been so odd and he wasn't sure what happened to push it from his mind but he was thinking about it now.
"So," he said, circling around Shisa in the sand as they prepared to start, "The strangest thing happened the other day."

Shisa was circling opposite Chaka, keeping an eye on the way he moved his feet and the way his head was tilted.. they were becoming too familiar with each other's fighting style and that was both helpful and harmful. It challenged them to try to change things up but they risked being unprepared for the truly different.
"What? You lost to Matemoto?" she asked, smirking at him and coming to a stop, nodding to indicate the duel was ready to start. Conversation wasn't going to stop them from dueling, it never did.

Move: Hit!
"No," he said, nodding to show he was ready, too, not feeling all that put off by her guess- it was true he'd lost to Matemoto, but it wasn't quite the same. His brother had done a good job getting the better of him in a practice duel, he was OK with that.
"Well, yes, that happened," he said, resuming his circling of Shisa and watching for an opening, "No, what I mean to say is I have an admirer."
Chaka grinned broadly when he said it, shifting his weight back and leaping for Shisa at that moment. Distraction was something he wasn't the best at but he was sure this was a good opportunity to hope for it. Shisa enjoyed trying to chip away at his ego, a story of an admirer might trip her up.

Move: Bide! "No?" she repeated, mimicking Chaka when he resumed circling around her, anticipating the same move he always did. It was his best move against her, where they weren't fighting to cause serious harm. His size was his greatest strength against her and she was always working to find ways against it.
Shisa snickered when he admitted his loss- but was surprised into a stop, for just a second, when he said he had an admirer. It was a surprising announcement and she brushed it off as a lie just too late- she'd lost focus just log enough. A stumbling attempt to move ended with Chaka hitting her midsection, knocking her down- but she wasted no time in getting back up and moving away.
"Is that so?" she said, breathing deeply after the narrow miss at being pinned, "You have an admirer?"

Move: Miss!
Chaka scrambled to catch Shisa because she could get away but she was too fast and now he was getting distracted. He stretched out his legs and stood opposite Shisa as she caught her breath and questioned his statement. He smirked at her, knowing she didn't believe him.
"Well, she may have mentioned you, too," he said, guessing that would probably lend some credibility to the story. It was all true, which was the best part. At least, in some ways it was true. How Chaka was taking it was his own personal, egotistical way of taking it.

Move: Bide!
Shisa blinked, raising a brow as she considered what he said. Was he generally this good of a liar? She didn't really think so, he wasn't smart enough for that.. but that meant he was telling the truth. Why else would he suggest his admirer, if it were fictitious, was also an admirer of her?
"You're serious?" she asked, disbelieving, "What do you mean?"
Who would just go up to him and say.. but..Shisa just didn't have any idea.

Move: Hit!
"What do you mean what do I mean?" he asked shaking his head, knowing very well what she meant. He'd intentionally said it in the strangest, most specific way to confuse and distract her-- and it worked. She'd clearly forgotten what exactly they were doing in the midst of this particular conversation. Smirking, he moved forward suddenly, lift himself up and aiming to give her a good shove.
"Pay attention!"

Move: Bide!
Chaka was right to think she had forgotten what exactly was going on. This wasn't the normal conversation they had while dueling, and to think Chaka was using it intentionally to help him was impressive.. if she would stop and think about that for the moment.
"What hap--"
She was ready to question him more when suddenly he was running at her. The distance was too short and caught trying to shift between questioning and dodging, she had no chance. Shisa was hit, shoved back, stumbling to keep herself from faling-- if he followed through, he would surely have gotten her.
"What happened?" she demanded, not ready to give up the conversation, though now painfully aware that they were still in the midst of a fight.

Move: Bide!
Chaka was completely oblivious to his opportunity to win the duel, distracted by his own conversation topic just enough. He moved back, steadying himself and standing, staring down Shisa. He could keep circling but he'd been doing plenty of that. Instead, he chose to stand in an aggressive stance and watch her.
"Someone came up to me and demanded to train with us," he explained, grinning. There was still plenty of the story to tell but would she make a move in the duel or was it up to him again?

Move: Miss!
Shisa steadied herself, shrugging a shoulder against a sharp pain from the rough shove by her brother. She could see him working hard to figure out the best next move while maintaining the conversation, he could only think about so much without it really showing.
"Who?"
Clumsily attempting to keep things going, she lunged forward, aiming a paw full of claws at his nose.

Move: Hit!
Chaka wasn't surprised by the clumsy, poorly thought out move and backed himself up just quick enough to miss a blow to a sensitive part of his face. He lifted up a paw to return the gesture, aiming more for her cheek than just her muzzle. It wouldn't do much good hitting her in the nose.
"She didn't say," he said, not all that concerned that he hadn't learned her name, "A grandchild of Azula. She wants to train with us."

Move: Hit!
Shisa was finally fully distracted from the conversation when she was struck in the face, her eye watering from a near-dangerous hit, her paws falling back to the sand with a thud as her neck twisted to turn her face away from her opponent. She couldn't stop now, and a blow could have done serious real damage deserved a return. With a snarl, she jerked back around, leaping at him, teeth bared.

Total: 12-10, Chaka wins!
Chaka could feel his paw his her eye and his pulling back was partly responsible for keeping her safe-- and then he was surprised by her return, pushed back into the sand, his mane the only thing protecting him from a good bite to the neck. The duel was over, they just had to stop and talk about this. With a grunt, he shoved her off, sitting himself up.
"I told her I'd wait to see what you said," he said, "After I beat her in a duel- she was very persistent."

With a mouthful of mane, Shisa was ready to stop and just talk it out again, too. She was starting to push herself away when he gave her a shove and she managed to catch herself on her paws before falling into the sand. His half-seated pose was a clear indication they were finished. Still wearing a scowl, she rubbed her eye against her leg. It would be fine, but it was annoying.
"We could use some less-familiar fighting," she said, not taking his comment about beating her in a duel to mean much- Chaka beat Shisa quite a bit, it didn't mean she wasn't good, she learned a lot from it. "Let's find some water and we'll decide what to do," she said decisively, shaking the sand from her fur and waiting for him to get up and join her.
