I want swear words because there are kids at school I really hate and my family pisses me off and I wanna swear at them in Japanese so they won't know what I'm saying. I know this sounds weird but can anyone help me?

Swear words are the first things anybody should learn! biggrin

The Japanese don't curse as much as English-speakers, but they have got a few words that, when said forcefully enough, can be construed as swear words.

Aho/Baka - both of these mean idiot. I think "baka" is more commonly used the Tokyo region, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Teme (teh - may) - Means "b*****d". This one comes up in anime a lot, notably "Naruto".

Yarou (Ya - row) - Another way of saying "b*****d", but I've also seen it translated as "scamp" or "rascal".

zakennayo (zah - ken - nah - yo) - This is the closest you can come to saying "f*** off" in Japanese. It's also commonly seen in anime, but it will often be translated as "Stop kidding around!" or "Don't joke around!", which is the most accurate translation. The Hana Yori Dango subs I posted translate it as "Cut the crap!".

Kutabare (Coo - ta - bar - ray) - Another way of saying "f*** you". I've also seen it translated as "go to hell" or "drop dead". In any case, it is not a nice expression.

Hope these help!

I have these handy books called "Making Out in Japanese" 1 and 2. They're filled with all sorts of Japanese you wouldn't learn in a classroom.

chikushou - Damn it. Usually said to yourself though...

kuso - s**t!

usotsuki - Liar!

kono kuso-onna - You b***h!

yariman - whore

konjou nashi - You've got no balls/no bravery

busu - ugly

And many, many more...These books are highly entertaining but definitely not child friendly...

That's awesome! What do they teach besides swears?
I mean, it's not that I want to say incredibly vulgar things to people in Japanese. It's just that my textbooks don't teach us how to say anything impolite at all. And how am I ever going to be fluent if I can't swear at people? Or understand if they're swearing at me? XD

It's a lot of casual style speech for things like hanging out with friends, getting in fights, asking someone out on a date, going on a date, going a little further on a date wink and lots of other random stuff.

XD How practical. I'll probably buy it if I continue after next semester. ありがとう!

Does it start at a completely beginner level? Like assuming you know no Japanese at all?

Yep! It explains things quite nicely and has all the phrases/words written as romaji and hiragana as well.

I know that using "kisama" is a rude way to say "you..."
"Kusottare" literally means "s**t drip"
"Kuso kurae" means "eat s**t" (a rough translation...)
"Doke" is "get out of the/my way"
"Shinjimae" is "drop dead" (shinu + shimau, for reference)
"Fuzakeru na" is "stop being stupid"
"Bakayarou" is "big idiot"
Also, add "baabaa" or "jiijii" to someone's name as a rude way to refer to an elder (ex. grandmother, grandfather).

And don't ask how I know all of these... (^__^; )

I have a book of nothing but Japanese insults somewhere.
wish I could find it.

:O

All I really think I kinda remember is:

Kuso shite shine: Eat s**t and die!

Baita-me: whore

^^;

Not much at all.

Totally unrelated: I have a friend of Japanese descent, and his mom told us a story about how she was on the phone with her own mother, speaking in Japanese, and upon hearing something interesting, she tried to say, "A so desu" (sou desu?) which is like "Oh, I see.", but she accidentally said "Aho desu".

xD
