The little lioness was getting away from the den for some time. She and her siblings were doing their best to behave while they're parents tried to figure out the situation with the drought. Aithne on the other hand was still giving them a bit of a hard time, even with the water levels dropping and her tongue dry and her belly wanting water, she still didn't give into behaving herself and doing what anyone else wanted. Aithne was a little on the smaller side and you could say that in a way she wanted to make up for her size with her personality.
But lately the little fiery lioness was dulled, she walked around quietly and nodded to her parents more then normal. There was something on her mind and it just wasn't going away. She wandered more and more away as she thought. She wasn't worried, she didn't like the baby sitter that was watching her and her siblings and she knew that going to the smaller oasis no was going to bother her. No one was heading to the smaller oasis anymore. it was dry, no one wanted to be around it, no one saw it the say she did. She saw it as a quiet spot to think things out. Well think out what her dreams meant.
Recently she was having strange, very strange dreams. Flashes of tan, dry hole, trees. She figured out the location. It was here. Right here in this little oasis, and it was current it had to be why would it be dry? But that wasn't really the part that bothered her. she saw red and white, like her body color and like her belly. She saw that but there was something else, bright purples eyes. She had never seen eyes like that in her life, never before. And wings, but they weren't wings like her sibling's wings that was for sure. She wasn't even that sure of where they came from. But another thing she wasn't that sure of and that was the spider. She saw a spider in her dream, it was white and it reminded her a lot of the markings that a good amount of her siblings had. She didn't understand why they had it though.
She didn't understand these flashes and every night she woke up startled, looking around every night, and it seemed like it was around the same time of the night. At first she had these dreams, these flashes once every every blue moon, then every five days... Recently she had been having them every night and she was frightened and confused. The other strange thing was in every dream she heard a whisper of a voice saying the same thing. "Aithne..." Her name. How did what ever it was know her name!
She let out a growl of frustration and padded her paws on the ground under her. There was another good question. Why wasn't there any water?

Finar-si hadn't been to check on her pride in some time now - mortal time, in any case. After the drama surrounding the fate of her kindred, her mind had wandered, and she'd trekked other lands as a rogue. As furious as she was with the Firekin ... she was also proud, in a strange sense. They'd taken their lives in their own paws, as much as cubs had grown up no longer needing the shelter of their mother.
Still. That didn't mean she was happy with what they'd done.
Her first day on the borders of the land had not gone well. She'd masked herself as Karama, vaguely wondering if she should surprise her son by returning in this fashion, but had come up against a problem: there was little to no water. This was no surprising thing, in the desert, but she had lived here most of her life. She knew how to find this precious resource ... and in the haunts that she normally would go to, everywhere she came up dry. By the end of the first day, she was thirsty and irate enough to throw off her guise, and through the night, she flew back across the border to find something to drink.
The next day, she'd abandoned all pretense and simply flew, perhaps brashly, into her former territory. Near midday, she was reaching an oasis she well knew, thinking that perhaps that at least, would have something to parch her tongue. As she neared the place, she nearly veered away in disappointment and vexation, as she caught sight of nothing but brown and yellows below her. Damn!
Wait - what was that? There was a lone speck of red below her; moving red. Thinking that perhaps she'd get some answers, an annoyed Finar-si descended with a mighty clap of her wings, honing in on the creature. As she landed, she kicked up a whirlwind of sand, her ears snapping forward proudly, chin tipping downwards as her eyes fell over the smaller creature.
It was an adolescent - no, juvenile - lioness. It looked vaguely familiar, but so had all her brood - the red coloration meant little, except that she was likely a relative of some sort. Her eyes narrowed as she regarded the other, not saying a word. It paid to be mystical early on, she had quickly realized.

Aithne was a normally very brave lioness, and if anything that lead to one thing for sure. Aithne was very rarely scared, there were few times that she was scared of something. There really was few times whens he was scared, and when she was scared she liked to hide it the best she could. But this was something that she had never seen before, the dust was startling. But that wasn't the only thing that was startling, she stood up quickly and moved back as fast as she possibly could, she didn't want to get hurt, and once the dust settled she was even more scared for two reasons.
First she had never seen a lion FLY, the lioness was huge, she was startled for sure this time. But there was something else that was very scary about the lioness as she took her in. It wasn't the look on her face that was for sure. She had seen a face like that before. But her eyes. Her wings. Was this the lioness she was dreaming about? She wasn't even sure. But those eyes. They were hard to get confused with anyone, she had seen a lion or two with those color eyes, however they were nothing compared to the lioness's in front of her. They were bright and she really had never seen anything like that before. In a way they were the most terrifying things that she had ever seen before. It was even worse that she had been seeing them in her dreams.
She paused as she stared up at the lioness she wasn't that sure of what to say however the best thing that came to her mind she blurted out. "Who are you?" She questioned sharply, she paused for a moment before shaking her head and restating her question. "What are you?" She asked, she really wanted to know who the lioness was that was for sure. why was she here. She had never seen her before, well... at least not out of her dreams.

Fin's brow went up. Not a very bright little thing, was she? the lioness thought, drily. Then again, considering the sudden shift in the pride mentality ... her lack of knowledge should not have been too surprising. Impatiently, her tail-tuft dashed against the ground, and she settled back onto her haunches, folding her wings back against her sides. For a long moment, she regarded the youth before her, studying her narrowly.
Finally, a tiny smile played around the edges of her mouth. "Finar-si, dear one - goddess of your people. We are kin."

Aithne stared up at the lioness, she was very much in awe at who she was. She stared and stared at the lioness not really that sure of what to say to her. Not sure at all. She stared up at her. To a point when the lioness spoke she wasn't that surprised. If what the lioness was saying is true and she was related to the older lioness then that meant. She was so confused. Was this the lioness that her father was speaking of? The one that left her. She was confused on how she was related. She had seen the images on the rock. The one her sister made, all of the history... She didn't see anything about being related to the lioness.
She flicked her tail around behind her as she looked at the lioness before looking up at her once again and then pausing before she spoke. "We are Kin?" She asked curiously, not sure of what else to ask her. She then stood up quickly and looked at the lioness with a confused but fiery face. She was a fiery lioness with the look to match whens he wanted to know something. "You've been the one in my dreams. I've been dreaming of this!" She looked around confused. "My daddy has never said anything about you." She puffed out her chest again. She was wondering how the lioness was related to her, she was very curious, she wanted to know that was for sure. Why had she been dreaming of the lioness? Was it because they were related. She was so confused, what was going on?

A seer ... well, that explained much. Finar-si's eyes narrowed a little, tail twitching as she considered how to proceed. She's birthed enough seers over her lifetime to know how to manipulate most of them, but that didn't mean they weren't any less dangerous. Free-thinking seers were a pain to have to cope with. It was smarter to get to them early on, make sure they thought what she wanted them to think.
She graced the child with a smile, calm and collected, her purple eyes warm. <"Yes, dear one,"> she purred. <"You bear the pelt of my people - the red fur of the desert. And you dream of things that will be ... that is another sign, the sign of the seer. What is your sire's name, and that of your grandsire?"> This could be a many great-times grandchild, if she was from an offshoot of the pride ... or she could be a grandchild or great-grandchild. Fin was vaguely certain she'd left five or six children alive the last time she'd mated, although with the war, she couldn't say for certain that all of them survived to bear offspring. The latter was more likely, though - the closer the lion was to the goddess's blood, the more likely they were to have the seer-touch.

Aithne looked into the eyes of the... goddess and was a little surprised, she had to admit that it was kind of startling. To her they were very bright, she was interested by them but yet still scared. It was very, very interesting that was for sure. She flicked her tail around behind her. This large lioness seemed to be important in some way she wasn't that sure why but thats how Aithne felt about it. She thought about it again before nodding at the lioness and speaking. She had to at least pretend to be brave she didn't want the lioness to get mad at her.
"I don't know who my grandparents are." she said simply not too sure of what else to say, but she knew who her parents were she paused before speaking. "My mom and dad are Kidondo and No." She nodded she was proud of who her parents were, she normally gave everyone a hard time including them but the only thing was when it came down to it she her parents were the only ones that she respected enough to listen to and do what they said. And scary lionesses and lions like the lion before them. "They don't walk about grandparents much but I know they're not around, but tose are my mother and father.

Kidondo - that name was familiar to her, at least. This, then, was a granddaughter, very close kin. For the moment, Finar-si decided to keep that knowledge to herself, but she did tell the girl: "Your father's parents were Kimeti, a former king of the lands, and Karama, a devoted priestess to myself. You come from honorable kin, child."
She didn't know who this 'No' was; the name didn't even vaguely ring a bell. Given what had happened to the pride, she would not have been surprised to find out that No was a former rogue. Irritation mingled with pride as she thought of her son, before she shook herself. There was little she could do about it now. "You are a princess, then; the highest royalty, and my blood. And a seer, besides, one who sees things that others cannot; the past, present, and potential futures. A special child, then."

Aithne looked up at the Goddess very confused she was guessing that it was pretty cool that she was related to these lions. Pretty cool that she was related to these creatures. She thought that was pretty cool. She really did think that was true, according to this lioness. She took a moment and then thought about it and looked at the lioness with wings and thought about it. She didn't know the lioness was in front of her was her grandmother, however she did know that it appeared this lioness was smart and knew what she was talking about. She was pretty sure that she could trust this lioness.
She looked up at the liones and then down at her paws before muttering quietly. "Wow." She was wondering her parents not had talked about this however that wasn't what caught her attention next, as the lioness kept talking she paid attention closely before pausing. "Royalty?" She asked curiously as her ears perked up. She was pretty sure she was a normal lioness just like her older sisters. "A seer?" She paused that was the one that really caught her attetention "What do you mean by that?" She asked curiously. She didn't really understand what a seer was.

"But of course," The lioness said smoothly. "You may not be the current royalty, but you're related to royal blood ... all of the true members of your pride are, but you a little more than most, I think."
The goddess considered for a moment, at first wondering what she should do, now that Aithne had seen her true form. She might have been stupid, she thought, for an uneasy moment; perhaps she should have hidden. "However - I think this will be our little secret, hmmm? I don't want to frighten anyone with my wings." She winked at the child, and then, before the girl's very eyes, pulled her mortal illusion over her form: that of a lioness who looked quite similar, but who lacked both wings and jewels. Finar-si gave a quick shake of her head, letting the illusion's threads settle around her.
"There. Much better. You can call me Karama, in this form. It means 'gift of the goddess' - fitting, is it not? Now. A seer." She tipped her head as she turned her attentions back to the child before her. Finar-si would have to be wary; the last time she'd tried to control a seer, he'd turned on her.
"A seer is a very special kind of lioness - or lion. It means they can see things that are going to happen. Isn't that wonderful? You get little glimpses of the future." Of course, she wasn't about to tell the girl that the future wasn't set in stone, and could be changed; that might lead to problems. If anyone was going to be doing the changing, she was. "Or sometimes the past."

"Really?" she said thoughtfully, that was something that sounded really exciting. she was royalty technically. She flicked her tail around behind her as she thought about it. She had heard of Kings and Queens before, she knew her parents were the leaders of the pride but she had never been called a princess before. When it came down to that it made her excited, at least a little bit.
She looked up at the lioness as she started to talk again. She was a little confused at what the Goddess was about to do. "A secret?" She asked curiously that sounded exciting! "I'm a good secret keeper." she told the lioness wanting to not miss whatever secret she was looking for. There were times where she liked to make was much trouble as possible and when she liked to cause trouble but she was loyal and if she promised that she was going to keep a secret she was going too. She liked to keep secrets. The lioness She watched the lioness before watching as her wings disappeared. "WOW!" She gasped, very surprised she was really surprised. She tried to look back on her back trying to see if maybe she had wings she could hide however that was until the lioness started talking again. Listening carefully to the lioness before pausing.
"Wait!~" She demand a suddenly serious look on her face. She was reviewing the facts in her mind and there was something that caught her attention now. "Karama?" She asked curiously before looking at the lioness again. "That means you're my grandmother!?" She asked with a gasp once again. It now made sense of why she had seen those purple eyes before in her siblings. she thought about it for a moment before looking at the lioness again. "Does that mean I can call you grandma?" she asked curiously her eyes wide with curiosity. She really was curious about this, she thought it was exciting to have her grandmother around.
When Karama started to explain what a seer was she looked at the lioness curiously listening as carefully as she possibly could. She had met seers before but she was still confused at the end of it. "Glimpses of the future?" she asked very cuirously again. It now really explained why she had been seeing the lioness in her dreams. It appeared as if she was seeing the future, according to this lioness anyway. "I think I can see the future..." she said simply trying to think about it. She was pretty sure that was what she was seeing.

"Yes, dear one," the crimson-pelted lioness replied patiently. "You're my granddaughter." A fleeting smile graced her lips as she looked down to the child. It was fitting that the girl knew who she was - who she really was - although she'd have to be careful. Her plans had backfired with both Dhyn and Kope, and based on the fact that Kidondo was still in power here, her plans for Kenna had backfired as well. Dhyn and her son had simply been fools - but they'd also been older when she'd revealed who she was to them. Perhaps it was smarter to start with a younger mind.
"And yes. You probably can," she coaxed, biting back her own impatience; it wasn't an easy thing to do, but she'd had years to practice it, and maintained an outward expression of calm. "It's a skill given to only a very few, and it's only because you're my granddaughter." Kidondo was also a seer, she was certain of it, but she wondered if he knew his visions for what they really were. Or perhaps he was only a very week seer; such things happened. Kope had disappointed her in that aspect.
"What sort of things do you see, dear one?"

As Aithne thought about it there was one thing for sure and that was that she knew that her grandmother was one to be respected. She was her father's mother and no matter how much she wanted to tell her father she wasn't going to. The older lioness had asked her not to and she knew it was in her best interest not to. "Wow." She stated simply, mostly at awe. The little lioness who was normally stubborn, a little bratty, and rebellious had added another lioness to respect on to her list. She had a reason to respect this lioness and that was exactly what she was planning to do. She wanted to make this lioness happy and proud of her.
She thought about it, she had these visions because of the lioness before her, this was getting more and more exciting to Aithne. She looked up wide eyed to the lioness before speaking again. "So I have these dreams because of you?" She asked curiously a little confused to a point at the idea but yet still excited. These dreams had been a little startling to her but if the lioness could help her Aithne would find that extremely exciting.
With the lioness's question Aithne was put back into thought, she had to think about the best way to describe the things that she was seeing. "Welll..." She started off making a small face before starting to speak again. "I've been having them in my sleep, they're dreams." she made a small face. "Really I've only had the one dream, where I'm here, and I saw you, mostly your eyes." she stated once again with a nod before looking back up at the lioness. "I keep having them more and more before now." she nodded and loked up at the lioness. "That is the only one that I've had so far."

"Yes. That power you have - that comes from me," she explained patiently. "From my blood. All of my children have it - but because the blood becomes diluted by normal blood, I have to pick and choose which of my grandchildren get it." The lioness smiles. "I chose you, dear one." It was a bald-faced lie, but the child wouldn't know that, and it made Finar-si appear as if she had more power and control than she truly did.
It was disappointing that Aithne hadn't seen anything more - Finar-si was hungry for information on what the future held. Perhaps the girl only had weak powers, like her uncle Kope, in which case she'd be little use to the goddess. Or perhaps those powers had yet to develop, if she'd only had visions lately. The girl was still young yet, and Finar-si had known seers to come into their power only in adulthood, even - very late. "Let's hope that, now we've met, you have more than that," she said gently, like a parent who clearly cared for their child but was nevertheless disappointed by something they'd said or done. "You will tell me when you have them, won't you? It's so important for me to know, to protect the pride."

Aithne looked up at the lioness in awe. Her visions were a gift from the goddess? She didn't really understand that but she was impressed by that. The lioness had picked her to have this special thing. Aithne found this more and more exciting the more she thought about it. She could tell her sister about that, she was more special then her siblings technically. She enjoyed that idea and she was glad that she knew that. She was an awesome thing. To her it was, to her that meant that her grandmother loved her the most out of her siblings and she thought that alone was very exciting. She paused as she looked at the lioness and then smiled. "Wow, thank you." Suddenly the dreams didn't seem that bad any more, they actually seemed pretty tolerable.
She looked at the lioness as she spoke about Aithne having more dreams now that she had met the lioness. As she thought about it again it kind of scared her. At first it seemed great but it was starting to come back as something that might not be as awesome as she thought it was. The dreams were confusing and at times were scary. Uh! Why did this have to be so confusing? she was kind of hoping that now that she had met the lioness that mean that she could possibly have better dreams relating to this. She was hoping so anyway. "If it's important of course I'll tell you grandma!" She said happily with a nod.She didn't see why she couldn't tell the older lioness, especially if it was to protect the pride!
