Well look at this, yet another Swampie contest! Thing... You get the idea. I got cubs to give out, and you want to try for them, yes? biggrin Great!
So here's some basic skinny. This will start Today, August 3rd, when I post "OPEN" in post 5, and will end 11:59pm August 31st - Yup, that's exactly four weeks from now!
*edit* Okay, one thing that's not a rule, just a clarification that I forgot xd You MAY enter for both cubs heart But you will only be able to win ONE heart
Now here's the ground rules.
1. The cubs may not leave permanently, only leaving for their name quest, without you talking to me first! Do not have the cub go on their name quest and just up and join another pride without even telling me, and do not come to me and say "Oh yeah, my cub is running off to this distant pride, bye!", discuss it with me! I've had people do that before, and to be frank... It's rude. I won't stand for it. You have a cub run off without talking to me, I will go to staff and ask to rehome the cub to somebody who actually RESPECTS the rules and requests. See, if you discuss it with me, and express why, I'll only ask that the cub comes home long enough to tell its mother. Otherwise, she'll worry her baby is out there DEAD.
2. There is no cubnapping! After the last big plot, the pride's been JUST a bit testy, especially Grandpa Mle.
3. This one's VERY important - You CANNOT have gotten a litter custom for the month of July! That is what the boy counts for - Even though I got him back in early-mid July. I waited for August for this reason, to avoid conflicts!
4. This one's also important - Both cubs come with cub names! Why? Because I adhere pretty strongly to the pride's rules, and it's been stated(And even CLARIFIED in a news update for the pride) that cub names must be short and simple. For instance, one of Pata's 'sisters' was named Zeru as a cub. It means Albino. She's still on her name quest, though, so... But! You can change the name(And are actually requred to) when the cub goes on their name quest! The cub name is just that - A cub name, a baby name, and the post-quest name is their adult name!
5. No proxies, sorry!
6. This one's for those not familiar with the pride - NO MATES OF THESE CUBS MAY BE NON-LIONS IF THEY REMAIN IN THE PRIDE! - Hybrids are a HUGE nono in the pride, and as it turns out... Even if the mate's a lion, if one of his or her parents is a hybrid, the lion(ess), his/her mate, and their cubs will be thrown out or killed.
7. This is actually a rule purely me - FOR THE LOVE OF PIXELS TRACE THE LINES D: Any level of inbreeding squicks the hell out of me, and unfortunately, for these guys... It's very easy. BEFORE you offer them up for mate plots, I beg of you to trace the family trees to see if there's a common ancestor somewhere! Especially if it's descended from Ishara, avoid it!
8. Yes, you may edit your post up until the end date!
9. This is massively important - I'm taking a personal chance here, doing an actual RP contest on my own, because of some OOC stuff that happened around the last one I did. DO NOT ASK ME TO HURRY ON JUDGING WHEN THIS IS OVER. I DO NOT like it, and it makes me MORE likely to NOT hurry. It is also incredibly RUDE, and will get your name REMOVED from the lists for the cubs!

My GOD look at the size of that family... And that's not even the whole family! No, I'm serious, that's not. Anybody who's traced it knows this. Most important, though, is Pata'chasi wenzi - She's the gray and white paint in the front with the babies! She's the mother! She was adopted by Mle'tonoka when she was a cub, and sees him as her father, and has told her cubs that he's their grandfather. Next imporant lions are the sisters of the cubs up for grabs! The two white girls are owned by PinkMyth(Piebald girl - I forgot to write down her name, lawl... Horrible of me!) and Strawberry Gumi Bunny(Purple tail - Her name is Ururu). Then there's Midna, on the left - I own her! And, of course, the contest cubs smile In the back on the right are the 'grandparents' of the litter - Mle'tonoka(Male) and Xochiyotl(Female). No, that sizing isn't an error - Genetically, Mle should be much larger than he is, but he grew up in the bone-baring conditions of the Umande'mfuni lands before everybody gave up waiting for the drought to end. He willingly gave up food for others, and as a result was stunted in his growth. Xochiyotl joined the swamps, because she found Mle entertaining. She likes to sing, and can have full conversations in song. Surrounding them are a chunk of the 'aunts' and 'uncles' of the cubs. Too many to name, lawl... They're almost adolescents and ready to go on their name quests! On the top left are two more 'aunts' of the cubs - Mzuza(Girl with the demon mask, owned by Meepfur) and Zeru(Albino girl, mine). They're from a fling Mle'tonoka had with the Demon Hunter, Moto'nyota. As a result, they technically have demon blood, but Zeru doesn't care for it(She likes the swamps much more, and she'd be a slave, anyway)... I'm not sure myself on Mzuza's take, but both are on their name quests! And then there's the... Severely extended family. Mzuza and Zeru actually have another four sisters and three brothers, plus a large number of half-siblings, an aunt in the Demons, an uncle in the Firekin, cousins in the demons, one cousin in the Firekin... And then there's Xochiyotl's family - A sister in the Roguelands, brother in the... Okay, let's just say she's got a lot of her own. But the more important family is Pata'chasi's family! Her ancestry hails back to Hidalgo and Ishara, as well as actual blood in the swamps(I'm sorry, Syr, I spaced on her name!), and quite a few others. Let's just say, 1/4 of SoA is related to them... AND THEN. Mle's also had a son and daughter from an older fling in the pride... Alas, the y were son was killed by the murderer in the big pridal plot, so only his cubs are left(And their cubs whenever they have any). And then there's Mle's daughter, Kabu -LOTS of 'cousins' through here, to say the least. And for some reason I thought she got killed, too, but it's been 100+ here so please forgive my fried brain. Mle doesn't know the grandcubs too well, personally, but it's worth mentioning. Also not shown, because I forgot, is Matope'damu - He hails from the Firekin, but left due to being a Huria. Despite his size, he's very laid back, and despite what his image shows, his mane's actually grown in a bit corded(Like, a mop of dreds. You may giggle now.). He joined the Jini when Pata came back from her name quest and brought him with her. He is like a brother to her, and she is like a sister to him, and therefore he is an uncle to the cubs. It sure helps that both are paints, doesn't it? Bonus points - They actually share Toshiro as a base ancestor(Her great-great-grandfather, his great-grandfather). Their father's unknown, though. -Collapses-

Now, you're probably wondering how this is going to work... To be frank, I'm making some of this up as I go, so it's a bit of fun for me xd Mrengo will be a contest-raffle! Prompt #: 4 : You're out on your name quest! Yay, independence! You've just encountered something you've never seen before, though! What is it, and how do you feel about it?
Reply:
The big wide world. It was big and wide and worldy and he was enjoying it. He missed the swamps and every day he thought about the squishy mud and the neck deep dark waters where frogs and small lizards skittered about and tasted so good you could hunt them from dusk till dawn and every little froggy morsel was more delicious than the last.
Of course, there were no frogs out here and very few nice squishy mud holes and there was next to no good deep dark pools where he could cool his paws. Without frogs, his favourite morsel, he had no idea what to hunt or eat so he was starting to feel a little hungry. It had been several days since he had left the home he had known since cub hood and already he felt the tugging at his toes to return. He couldn't, not yet, he had no name yet but he would soon and then the welcoming smush would welcome him.
Taking a deep breath the young male strode forwards considering what exactly he was going to hunt out here when a small furry thing darted from long spindly grass. He pounced automatically, his large gangly paws surrounding the tiny squirming body. Lifting his toes slowly, carefully, he peered at the creature he had captured.
He blinked once, twice and after a third very meaningful blink he looked slack jawed at the mouse like creature only, only it wasn't a mouse it had a trunk!?!? He wasn't a fool, far from it, he had seen elephants march in their huge heavy herds, he had seen them stop and wallow in mud, they were hard to miss and they, as far as he was concerned were the only things in the world that had trunks. So how the duce had this..this mouse gotten a trunk?
With a look of pure confusion on his face and a look of fear clearly plastered on the mouse like creatures face Kivuli opened his mouth so ask the most important question he felt he could ever ask. "What are you?"
Tiny black eyes blinked owlishly and as the little creatures breath slowed, it spoke in a voice so small and quiet and down right annoyed, Kivuli felt taken aback. "I'm an elephant, obviously!"
The young lion just didn't know what to think, elephants were huge and grey and, well HUGE this was tiny and fluffy and brown. "Well..You have a trunk.." he considered this new idea, perhaps elephants came in smaller sizes out here? Maybe the giants of the herds were just different like cheetahs weren't lions but they were still cats. He nodded accepting this little bit of information and filed it away happily between his ears.
He smiled a toothy smile at the 'Elephant' he didn't feel he could eat something as majestic as an elephant so he lifted his paws. "Off you go then. I don't think I could eat an elephant you guys are so amazing when you march across the savannah and roll in the mud." He beams innocently watching the little beast for a moment before it scuttled away.
An elephant, yeah, who knew they came in different sizes? When he got home he would tell his mother about the elephants of the savannah, that were furry and had long thin tails and were tiny like a mouse. He would never accept that it was an Elephant Shrew, it would forever be an elephant of the plains because that was what the little beast had told him.

What happens when a male witnesses the birth of a litter?The circumstances are dire for the entire family - the male would be forced to flee or be killed while the female and her litter would suffer a similar fate. The litter are considered tainted because they don't have the sanctity of a name and as such, must be disposed of via exile or death. The mother (while not tainted personally), carries the taint within her and as a consequence, would be forced into exile or would be killed. Which of the cubs of the current ruler becomes the next king/queen?Any child of the King/Queen can become the next ruler so long as they are deemed to be Scions and demonstrate the right qualities. The current rule can only choose their successor when they are about to step down or are near death. At present, the current Queen doesn't appear to have a consort or offspring at the moment and as such, there are no existing scions according to the ownerlist. *Chuckles* I can only answer based on what I can see and read. Unfortunately all the certs aren't there and a few threads that could have been useful aren't 100% accurate either. xD; I'm limited by what little I do know in SoA so unfortunately that's the best I can do for now! Least I tried. 8D

Kivuli pouted and sat off near the edge of the watering whole inorder to hide from his sisters. His eyes twitched at the faint calling of his name and he peered around nervously. Sometimes it sucked being the only boy in a mostly all girl family. It wasn't enough they made him act like a girl at times BUT also did his hair in what they called 'updos' to make him look *shudders* pretty. He was a boy dangit and it wanted to do male-ish things! Like play in the mud, run to you puked, or-or fight! The only males he new were his cousins... and they were either too old to wanna play with him OR they had gone off to their naming quests. Which did sound appealing to him right now, but seeing as he was young at this moment he would wait a little longer before deciding what he wanted to do. So deep in thought he didn't realize that his sisters had found him. He sqwacked and wriggled for a few minutes before giving in... besides the combing felt kinda nice on his mane.

What happens when a male witnesses the birth of a litter?Cubs that would have been pure are now tainted, opened to the evils of the world before they have the protection of a name; they are bad omens incarnate, who carry ill luck with them wherever they go. For this reason, the pride must be rid of them - either by their deaths or by their exile. The mother, too, is considered tainted; while she is not the walking misfortune her cubs are, she carries the profanity inside her, and will give it to any further cubs she bears. For this reason, she too faces death or exile. As for the male, he has broken sacred law, and his punishment is to die or be forced to flee. Male or female, child of consort or courtesan/suitor or even outsider - it doesn't matter. If they are the child of the ruler, they are potential candidates for the throne - Scions. The Heir is chosen by the King or Queen only when they are ready to step down, or are dying, and announced to the pride.
