Ban'ma rested in the cool shade with her back agaisnt the trunk of a tree. The once ever gleeful lioness leaned slumped against the bark with a weary moan. It had been a long day full of disappointments. First, she had lost not one, but two kills and to top it off, she had yet to hear any news about her boys.

Not one of her beloved sons had returned, and it was beginning to tear her down.

Why weren't they back yet? Were they alright? Had they found a Banu, and simply wished not to return yet? Would they return at all? Had they found love else where? Or were they...? She shook her head, and buried her maw into the thick fur wrapped around her shoulders. She shouldn't worry about it, but how could she not? Ban'ma lived for her children, even those who didn't share her blood. If they didn't come back soon, she'd...she'd...she'd go out and get them herself!

Tsubame wasn't sure but she had a feeling she was right. She needed to talk to Ban'ma. With that thought in mind Tsu set out to find her den sister. She knew that Ban'ma was likely back from hunting if only to rest from the heat so she headed to the spot she figured her sister would be.

It didn't take long for Tsu to spot her bright sister in the shade of a tree. About to call out Tsu took a moment to take in Ban'ma's slumped form. Something was wrong. Worried about the lioness, Tsu hurried to her side.

"Ban'ma? Sister what is wrong?" Tsu gave her a quick nuzzle. What could be wrong? Would it be a good idea to go get Namir? Her own thoughts of her news fled her mind as worry crawled into her stomach and made it churn. "Darling please tell me whats wrong. I'm sure it can be fixed, what ever it is."

At first, the striped lioness didn't register that someone was speaking with her. That is, until Tsubame nuzzled her and she snapped back into action. "Hmm?" Ban'ma gave her 'sister' a confused stare. "Whats wrong-? Oh! Me!" She placed a paw next to her chest and laughed. "Nothings wrong with me, sweetie. Just a little heart sick is all."

Ban'ma turned her eyes back to the same horizon she'd been staring at for the past few hours now. "I know they're fine, I mean, they've had the best family in the world to raise them, but I just wish I knew what they were doing." She huffed irritably, and bit her lip, as she usually did when stressed. "It's just so damn depressing without my little sidekick." And of course, she meant Zaid. Not that her other cubs meant any less to her, it just seemed that Avatefeh and Zaid had dug their paws further into her heart than the others. Her daughter was here to spoil, but her boy...

Tsubame couldn't say anything to that, she too felt a bit heart sick at the absence of the boys. Out of all the boys to leave only one had come back so far, it was worrying to say the least. "Oh Ban'ma." Tsu nuzzled her again, try to convey her similar feelings.

"Sadly all things must grow up and leave home. While we parents are left behind to worry about them, they learn to be indidual adults." Tsu turned to face the horizon with Ban'ma. No matter what Tsu said though she still felt as if her cubs were still cubs. It didn't matter that her daughter had a cubs and even had grand cubs of her own. To her they would always be the little fluffs of joy. "Zaid? Well I can't blame you. He always seemed to be right next to you where ever you went. Namir was the same with me." She smiled at the memories that surfaced, a blue fluff tumbling and falling, always tripping over his own paws. "They will be home soon Ban'ma. They have to be."

"I knnnooooowwww," Ban'ma whined. She leaned up against her sister, and snuggled with an indignant huff. "It's still not fair. Don't get me wrong, I love our home just as much as the next, but sometimes it makes itself hard to love." One day, she would have another litter, or so she hoped, and it wouldn't be any easier then, so why stress now? She'd die of heart sickness before she got her first wrinkle.

Ban'ma laughed. "He did, didn't he? He really took after Namir. That boy wouldn't stop talking about his older brother. If I didn't know better, I'd think that to him, Namir was the Sultan." She smiled at those fond, distant memories. They were the only things keeping her there, and yet, they also pushed her forward. "I know, I know. They'll be home soon, and I just have to have faith, right?" She rolled her eyes with a grin. "Our boys'll come home soon. I just keep forgetting that. But not too soon. I'm not ready to be a grandmother yet."

Tsubame nodded. She too felt the itch to leave but there was so much that Tsu would be leaving behind that the little touch of displeasure with her life was squished ruthlessly. "Ahhh darling but that is just one side of this pride. Personally with me its those few, very few, who seem to think I don't have a spine just because I am quite." Tsu smiled, it was a smile full of teeth and a bit of madness in it. She laughed softly as the slightly creepy smile faded, "Then again I tend to avoid those just so I don't get Achal in trouble." She didn't want to tell Ban'ma that she missed her sons much more then any issues she shared. But there was no point in adding to Ban'ma's unease.

"He did look up to his big brother didn't he?" Tsu laughed softly, it was still a bit of a surprise how much Zaid looked up to his brother even though they really only met when Namir returned from his banu quest. Ban'ma gave Tsu the perfect opening but still she hesitated sharing her news, would such good news be taken with a shadow of the future pain. She decided that this news might just distract her away from her melancholy. "Ban'ma well I know you aren't ready for grandmother status but what about 'momma Ban'ma' again?"

When Ban'ma caught sight of Tsubame's creepy smile, she stilled, then burst out laughing. The trill of her delicate laugh bounced across the land like a chorus of angry birds. "Or..or those who thought I was a slut when I joined the pride because I like to cuddle. I mean, really?" She laughed and shook her head. The striped lioness took a deep breath to calm herself. "Gods. Gossip travels in this place like the plague."

Ban'ma straightened herself out, and with great care, fixed her boa and the flower pinned in her mane. At first, she thought she'd missed what Tsubame said, then it struck her. "Momma Ban'ma? I have been pondering another litter, but I - OHMYGODS Tsubame! Tell me you have good news!" At the pitch she was shrieking, it wouldn't be a wonder that lions ten miles away became deaf.

Tsu liked to hear Ban'ma laugh. Ever since she joined Achal in this pride Tsu found that she still preferred to be fairly solitary but Ban'ma always made her really wish that she was more like her. She was so happy and bright and never feared showing her feelings, only with her family and close friends did Tsu open up... Although Achal had already comment on how much she had changed since joining the pride. Tsu snickered at Ban'ma's comment. "Well sometimes those old jabber jaws just have nothing better to do with their time." She smiled and said softly like she was sharing a secret, "Sometimes when one of the cubs ask why its so hot and dry towards the border I have to keep myself from saying its because all the hot air those gossips spew."

Tsu exaggerated her pained expression and had a paw covering the ear closest to her sister. "Gods Ban'ma I don't think the Sultan heard you. Do you want to repeat it louder?" Her smile was bright and full of amusement. Her paw gently rubbed her ear before returning back to the ground. "Yes. I'm fairly certain that Achal will have more little ones running around soon. You know that was a possibility since I kept stealing him for late night walks." Her smile this time was embarrassed and yet proud. To think that it wasn't really all that long ago that Tsu didn't know that was the possibility of such walks.
