Iseq had only been half surprised to find her sister had taken her brood away from their usual stomping grounds. With Calder having been taken, and figuring that the father was the culprit, it made some sense that her sibling took the rest of her children to reunite them. She had been fine with it and happy for them to be together again. It didn't take long, however, for the ash and ember lioness to miss their presences within the wood. She hadn't wanted to miss her nieces and nephews growing up, so Iseq did some tracking of her own, leading her straight to the Stormborn lands.
The place felt different. The smell of the salty sea air was something she wasn't accustomed to, but it was quite pleasant in her opinion. The air felt different too, not in a bad way though. So, her kin had come to reside here...And she knew that it was here that she intended to stay. Now, she had heard tell of having to fight for entry into the pride, a task which she was more than willing to complete.
Straightening herself with four paws aligned, she sniffed the crisp air with a flick of her tail before letting loose a call to challenge. The lioness would face whoever answered her...

Elendr had pulled gate duty this morning, a duty he did not mind. It was generally quiet, with only the wind from the cliffs as company, carrying with it the sounds and smells of the Pride.
The Reavers, young and old, were practicing in the sand pits beside the cliffs, he could hear the grizzled Captains yelling various obscenities and advice to them. To the south of them the killing grounds brought offal and blood to his nose, the hunt had been successful, coupled with the last night's capture of fermented fruit, the mead hall would be a boisterous place tonight. Luicavar would need an eye kept on him...again.
To the west...a roar...the golden lion's ears flicked forward, his head turning toward the sound. Yes, one of Challenge, female. Today's watch it seemed would not be uneventful.
Stepping from the tree line, the lithe male stood in the center of the trail, where it widen out into an almost circle where many such challenges had been fought before.
" Come you here why?" He asked in his calm way, his syntax very different from his Pride mates, marking him, just as his more slender build did, from another land entirely.

Her expression was that of uttermost calm as she waited for an answer. The only thing hinting at her tension was her systematic curling and uncurling of her claws into the soil beneath her feet. Focusing her keen gray eyes upon the golden male who emerged from the tree line, Iseq took a slow deep breath before speaking. The male's manner of speech was odd, but not anything she couldn't clearly understand. She thought that the lions here would be...maybe a little bigger, more stocky. She tipped her head and looked him over through slightly lowered eyelids, as if she were analyzing what he was potentially capable of.
"I come on the heels of my kin." She began, her tone low, even, and honest. "I wish to join your ranks so that I may keep an eye on them, to watch them grow in your ways as well as the ways of my family, and, perhaps, to experience and take part in something of which I am unaccustomed." She sniffed and shifted fluidly to stand at a slight angle, facing the male before her. "Now, I understand that one must fight to gain admittance to this pride and to be one of their number. Seeing as you've answered my call, I take it that I shall be facing you, correct? And that this shall be our arena?" Iseq glanced about the widened trail, forming a circle around them, before refocusing on the golden lion.
"If it is so, then let us begin..." Why waste time pussyfooting about? If she were destined to come out victorious this day, why delay? If things turned out in her challenger's favor, then she would steal away for a short time and return to try again. She loved her nieces, and nephews, and her sister too much to simply let herself fall out of their lives due to the distance of their relocation.

The male listened to her, then stepped into the circle, his body language speaking of a deep stillness in him. She came for her kin, he could respect and admire that, but it did not mean he would face her with any less skill. It would be an insult to what she as and what she would be within the Stormborn. Something inside him told him she would not wish to be a thrall. Elender took one edge of the circle and gave her an odd half bow of his shoulders, the straightened up. His amber eyes calm, his body perfectly balanced, weight on the balls of his paws, back straight and even.
He would not attack first, he did not Challenge. This was her fight and her fight alone.

It seemed that it was so, judging by his actions and his silence. The lioness moved to the edge of the circle that was closest to her and mirrored his slight bow before righting herself. A gust of a stiff breeze waved over her and she inhaled deeply, slowly letting out the breath as the wind died down leaving the ring still.
The ring was essentially flat and completely clear, so there would be nothing she could get up onto for leverage. Camouflage would just be silly. No, this fight would be face to face, straight on. Not an ideal condition for her standard method of battle, but she would make do. It was for her kin after all. She had come so far just to be with them that there wasn't a thing in this world that could keep her from joining them again.
Iseq always kept her muscles loose and only tensed when she sprinted forward to close the distance, leaping slightly off to her opponent's side, twisting back to swing her unsheathed claws for his face, the whole of her weight behind them. [WC:1055 @ 1st move]

Erlendr watched her in his calm, unshakable way, seeming to be weighing her, yet not judging her. There would be no judging from the golden male. It was not for him to do so. There would only be the ebb and flow of the dance they did here within the ring, a dance of claw and teeth, of slash and bite.
He waited until the last moment, and as she leapt, he sidestepped, turning into her, moving with her so that her claws met nothing but air and he now was even with her shoulder.
Using the momentum they had created, Erlendr went to trip her with his hind leg, his forward front paw coming up to slash at her underbelly.
( this move of his should lead into the next roll where they both got the 2 : 2 ) ( I always have to make a note at the bottom of the post so I remember ><)
