(This takes place before the stay/go meeting) Another hot day. The lands were as dry as can be, still littered with the bones of the fallen creatures that had succombed to the heat. Quba cursed her dark pelt, for it attracted the bright golden rays of the sun, doing very little to keep her cool. She found that sleeping right against a boulder, was the coolest thing she could do. Therefore, on this day, she could be found against that same lone boulder, pressed up against it as far as she could go. At least on the side of the shade, the rock was cooler to the touch.
Bright blue eyes peeked into slits. The lioness groaned, covering her eyes.

The lighter colored lioness was prowling through the lands slowly, gaze flickering over the lands slowly and carefully. If only some water could be found... just somewhere! Perhaps if there was more water than the sickness would subside... it was a weak wish.
As she moved along she was beginning to catch a familiar scent and a roguish smile crept onto her maw. Her ears perked just a little more as she dropped into a stalking stance, creeping through the lands. The water was almost instantly forgotten, because what this scent meant was a small break from the pride troubles.
Her tail flicked as she moved closer to the scent, and she froze as she heard the groan, eyes focusing in on a large boulder. She smirked and crouched lower, backside swaying in anticipation as she suddenly bolted around and attempted to pounce the other female with a friendly but loud roar.

Not hearing the approaching female (or smelling the air, for that matter), Quba was caught off guard when the other female pounced on her. The loud roar woke her out of dazed-like state she had been in, something that was typical for the darker lioness when she had been resting for a while. "Oi, Umoya! What's up....can't you see I'm trying to rest out here...stay away from this miserable heat!" Though she wasn't really angry with the other female. The two had always been close, ever since the day they had met. Quba purred slightly, giving Umoya a headbutt as she rose to her feet. The lioness was shorter than the brown female, an obvious sign of just finishing a growing cycle.
She gave a quick stretch, sitting down before her friend. Her tail wrapped around her front legs, the tuft occasionally hitting the ground with a soft 'thud'. "What are you up to today? Stayin' away from sick ones I hope..." Though it was only known that only one known case of a sick cub around, Quba was going to stay away from most others as long as she could.

Umoya laughed joyously as her friend snapped words in mock annoyance, nipping at the other's face as if both of them were still cubs. "Bah, sleep shmeep!" She cried out, grinning as she rolled off to her feet and nuzzled her face into the other as they bumped heads. "The 'eat loves yeh so much though Quba! Is'tha beautiful coat o'yers!" She teased, nudging the other with a paw.
Though their conversation took a serious turn quick, or at least Umoya thought so. She frowned and started to nod seriously, sitting down slowly. "Ackshly yeah, I am. It's sad, tha' lil' tyke all sick like that.." she shuddered, shaking her head. "I've been out 'ere searching fer water for a bit now... jus' nothin' anywhere Quba... 'sterrible." Her tail flickered and she looked uncertain for a bit, then leaned close.
"I eard that we're gunna 'ave a meetin soon." It was clear the meeting would be about the circumstances surrounding the pride at the moment, but not really much else was known beyond that.

"Umoya...you know how I love my sleep!" She said. It was true, when she wasn't having failed attempts at hunting, she was sleeping, even at all hours of the day (including nights). "Amanzi got the perfect coat," she muttered, licking the light coat of dust that had accumulated onto the dark pelt. "At least she doesn't have to worry about frying here as much. You neither." Quba was a little bitter towards her sister. She was, after all, the perfect huntress. The perfect lioness. The perfect everything. What was Quba? Heh, a nobody who couldn't even compete with her elder family member.
Quba shook her head, agreeing with her friend. "There is no water here...it's all since dried up. Our pride is dying...It'll kick off the youngins' first, then go after the elders. Who knows when we will be next." she said quietly, slowly lying back on the ground. It was tiring just to sit and chat, laying down was much better.
"Wonder what that meeting it about. Guess we will find out for sure, huh?" She said with a small, sad grin.
"But enough talk about that! So Umoya~" she sang, "meet any booooys yet?" A little eye waggle was seen, as the smile appeared to widen. "Are you holding out on me?"

She grinned at that and nodded, "Yeah, do know that." She mumbled and then shook her head softly. "Yer jus' lazy, don't make excuses with your coat!" She teased. She knew a few lionesses in the pride with equally as dark coats, who all were fine huntresses and did not waste away in the hot sun just sleeping. Her ears flicked and she listened to her friend's envious remark about her sister... and about her! She gently prodded her in the head with a paw. "Oi, just 'cuz I 'ave a lighter coat than yers don't mean tha's jus' all oooh the sun don't 'fect me! or sommit!" She laughed though, finding it amusing.
The grass was always greener though, right? She was quite envious of Quba's beautiful charcoal coat, with her amazingly simply yet elegant face markings. She nuzzled into the other's side, thinking about the meeting as she let her tail flick. "Prolly the 'ole water situation." She said softly, wondering what they'd be doing about that.
She laughed when the subject was suddenly changed and shifted her position, nipping at the other's ear and tugging in a very cub-like fashion. "Hah! Where would I meet'em, eh? D'ye see any around?" She even gestured with her paw to prove her point.

“Mhmm. You are just saying that to make me feel better!” the lioness said with a smile.
The darker female didn’t like hearing much about what was going on. She couldn’t do much to help. She could try hunting, but she was no good at that. That was what Amanzi was for. She was pretty much the best huntress in the whole pride! Quba couldn’t help but feel the pressure when she attempted to hunt. When her sister always came back with some kind of prey beast, and she empty handed, it made her feel terrible about herself. She wouldn’t let that show though to other pride members. Just Umoja.
Quba shrugged. She’d figured Umo was out longer (out, being awake), for longer than Quba was at least. She’d figure she would see some kind of boys around. Shaking her head, she answered. “No.”
Then the idea hit her. “You know…we should go find some. You know, live a little?” She smirked a bit at the suggestion, hopefully Umo would get what she was saying. Quba knew Umo’s mother though, she wouldn’t be so happy with the pair if they strayed down that path.

Umoya's tail flicked as she considered her friend's offer. Her mother would hate what they were doing if she knew what they were up to... in fact, she was pretty sure more than one lioness in the pride wouldn't be pleased.
She grinned and nipped at the other female. "Aye, aye. Sounds like a plan teh me... bu' we'll 'ave teh do it when me mum isn't so suspicious, yeah? Like nigh' or somethin." That could be dangerous, but it only seemed to make the whole situation more appealing.

”Night sounds perfect! What about tomorrow night?” she gazed towards the sky. Tomorrow night would be when the moon was full. Something about that just seemed like the perfect idea. She was sure there was some cute rogue boys hanging around somewhere.
”Or! Tell your mom we are going on a hunting trip. To look for water or something! That way, we can spend a few more days out, just in case we find someone special?” The lazy dark lion was getting so many ideas for this excursion! She was excited. Rising to her feet, she decided that they would definitely be leaving tomorrow. She was sure Umo would agree with her then!

She nodded as she considered this. It seemed like a good, plausible plan. Simple and believable. Likely her mother would need some convincing still... but it would be a terrific start.
"Aye, alrigh'. I'll do tha'." She watched as Qu began to grow animated and excited, then chuckled. She liked when her friend had energy. "Let's meet 'ere then, in this spot!" With that she also rose and moved off, heading for the dens. More specifically the den she still shared with her mother! end
