 Cubs. It seemed everyone around her was settling into families and having cubs, she couldn't seem to get away from it. She didn't hate cubs, or seeing others happy it only made her, she curled her tail around her paws as she rested in the ever shifting sands. It made her wish for something, someone..
But she wasn't the sort that needed another, who leaned on someone else when she was in need. No, she had only herself in the long run, she couldn't depend on anyone else could she?

Huojin had noticed how many pride members had been having cubs lately. he was still fairly young despite being an adult and had yet to really dwell on having cubs of his own. though he wouldn't mind it too much, he just had yet to really fall hard for a female to really think about having cubs of his own. but that didn't mean at the moment he didn't have a crush on his best friend from childhood. he actually was at this current moment in deep thought was he took a stroll to try to collect his thoughts and feelings. little did he know that he was going to end up running to the one lioness that was on his mind.

The sound of another coming upon her, made her sit up straighter, and her expression harden into a light scowl. She'd never let anyone see the weaker side of herself, that could and would just not do well for her she was sure it'd be used against her somehow.
Her pride was not meant for the weak, it was meant for the strong, and only the strongest survived during these hard times. And she would be a survivor..

Huojin bursted with laughter when he came across Alma scowling and being all tough. "did someone get on your bad side today or am i just lucky enough to have you scowl at me." smirking, he strutted over to her and playfully swatted at her. he always had the big tough act on as he hated to seem weak in anyway but he couldn't help but have a playful side with Alma. practically prancing around her, he was just this once being a goof ball inside of the harden soldier he always was.

She gave him a slide glance before she tilted her head, what on earth was wrong with him? She snorted, "Only like this for you m'dear Huojin.." She purred teasing him, watching him prance made her smile, she couldn't help it.

Huojin struck a pose for a moment before he sat right down next to her. chuckling, he was pleased there was at lest one female that wasn't family that he could get along with despite the fact he was so challenging and gruff. " well then i am pleased to know you got a scowl only for me Alma." curling his tail around himself, he took a side glance at Alma before giving a small cough. " so whats on your mind today? besides the blazing heat?" he wondered if she would tell him anything, since he knew that she was proud like he was.

Though, someone would have to cut her tongue out before she'd admit it, he was one of her closest friends, a worthy rival if she had any. But as he sat next to her, she perked up slightly, coiling her tail around her paws and lowering her lashes as she glanced over at him almost shyly. "Oh just thinking about...things..love..cubs and all that..stuff." She said in a hushed whisper, so no one but him could hear her utter any of that....stuff.

Huojin was not one to be a sappy romantic or to talk about things like love or cubs. though he had taken it upon himself to mentor Alma's young half brother to see if he could get him to live up to Alma's high expectations. he was shocked though to hear she was actually thinking about love and cub's. "oh......" shifting his weight on his paws, he gave a small cough. " ummm what has made you start thinking about those things?" though he did have his own idea's of why she would be thinking about love and cub's, he wasn't going to make a a** out of himself by assuming. " after all we are still young. or i'd at lest like to think that." giving a little chuckling, it was clear he was caught off guard for the moment.

She was slightly amused to see him off gaurd. She grinned, as she continued to watch him, "I am not young, I am an adult of prime years." She said as she lifted her chin, she knew he was mentoring her younger half sibling, but that didnt mean that the chit was equal to either of them, at least in her mind.
"Well, why shouldn't I? I'd make someone a fine mate, and my cubs would be the best in the land, hearty, and proud. The fire that would burn in their veins would be some of the finest." She eyed him slowly, "The only thing thats missing really, is a male that is suited."

Huojin could tell that she was pleased with catching him off guard. it wasn't very often he was since he always tried to keep himself from being caught off guard. " i'd still like to think we may be adults in our prime but we are still young." he wasn't fond of thinking that at some point he would be old. which also now got him thinking about settling down with a female and having strong cubs of his own before he was out of his prime. " fair enough. and i'm sure you could find a suitable male if you wanted." in the back of his mind though he was thinking that he would be jealous of any male that would end as her mate.

She continued to eye him, her love hate feelings for him had only deepend as she'd grown older. While he drove her batty, it was him who she felt would be the only one worthy of her at the end of the day.
"Yes, well...he couldn't just be any male..Im not that kind of female." She smirked playfully at him.

Huojin tried his best to act like this conversation wasn't making him squirm but it did. " of course your not. you would only choose the finest male to be your mate." he new his best friend rather well since they always had a love hate relationship since they day they met up. " i would expect nothing less since i known you a long time." giving a small smirk back, she now had him thinking about cubs and settling down. though with the drought it made him hesitant to do any of that.

"Maybe after the drought, no need to strain the pride further..." She flicked her tail over his side as she eyed him, purring softly. "Though I'd have to find the right male first..Maybe I should have a sparing contest..the one to win, is who I'll take as a mate." She pondered silently, eyes half closed.
Really, she was watching his reaction.

" very true, the drought has caused a lot of strain on the pride. " Huojin himself didn't want to bring cubs into the world while the drought was happening, cause it would cause him to worry about being able to take care of them. but he didn't need to worry about that since he had yet to settle down with a female to even think about having cubs. " you would really round up a bunch of males to have fight over you?" he couldn't help but laugh at the thought. " figures you would think to do such a thing. but they would have to get through me first anyways." smirking, he swatted at her tail that had flicked over his side.

"If cubs survived it would only further prove they came from strong stock, but still not a risk even I would take." She shook her head, she didnt know a lioness that would risk her own cubs.
She arched a brow and watched him, "Is that a fact now?" She slinked herself against his side with a low purr.
