The Arba'Sehemu have been established for a while, but they have been lacking one thing. Leaders. In the wake of the great war, most of the clan leaders banded together and set off on a quest - a quest to find, and bring back the long lost Avatar.

Little did they know that their Avatar had long since returned, and they only received word of his return recently! They have journeyed long and hard, and have finally made their way back to their home. Together, they have met the new Avatar, Aang, and have taken up their positions once again.

But they are all missing one very important thing.

Owners.

Start: NOW!
End: October 24th, 9:00pm EST

~Rules~

1. Read every bit of information provided in each individual contest, and study up on their characters if you haven't already! These are all cosplays, and should remain true to their source material. You should also familiarize yourself with the pride itself, even if you don't know what it is based on.

2. You need to be at least moderately active, both in SoA and in roleplaying. These characters all hold very high ranks, and should not be treated as sig candy.

3. Keep drama out. Do not tease or otherwise discourage other individuals from applying or participating in any of the contests. Obviously, keep your rudeness to yourself, and don't answer any questions someone asks unless you know the answer without fail.

4. Spell and grammar check your posts, please.

5. I reserve the right not to choose any of the entries if I am not satisfied with them and to home these SoA in another manner. As I said before, they are in positions of power, and are vital to the Arba'Sehemu. As such, I will only give them to someone I believe can handle them.

6. If you win one of these SoA, and for any reason take an extended hiatus or leave SoA, please contact me. As stated before, these characters are vital to the Arba'Sehemu, and if you are unable to play them they will need to be rehomed. If there is no activity from you on Gaia for more than six months and you have not contacted me about a hiatus, I reserve the right to rehome them myself. By entering this contest, you are consenting to this should the need arise.

7. You cannot win more than one SoA from this event.

8. I reserve the right to add rules as needed and as I see fit.

~Fire Lord Zuko & Fire Lady Mai~

User Image

Basic Information
These two are cosplays of Zuko and Mai.
They are a mated pair, and should not ever split up for any reason.
Zuko is the son of the late Fire Lord Ozai and Fire Lady Ursa. He has two living relatives - a paternal uncle named Iroh who is a Noble in the Fire Nation and a younger sister named Azula who was banished from the pride following the war.
Mai is the daughter of two Nobles. She was betrothed to Zuko as a cub.
Zuko was colored by Ririka, while Mai was colored by Meepfur. Neither of them have been seer rolled, and their future owners are welcome to roll them if they wish.

Contest Info
This is a pair contest. You must have a partner to enter.

To enter, please fill out the coded form below with the answered prompt and post it in this thread. You can edit your posts, but I do not guarantee I will go back and reread them.

Do not add colors to the format, do not change the font size, or otherwise alter the format. I would like it to stay simple and basic so that my eye sees every entry the same way aesthetically.

Prompt
The two of you have always known that you were destined to be life mates, but you never really had a chance to settle into your roles as Fire Lord and Fire Lady until after you had finally returned to the Fire Nation. After so long away from your home, how are you settling in? What are your thoughts on the new Avatar, and how he has been ruling the lands in your absence? And most importantly, what are your plans for the future now that you have returned?

Prompt
Historically speaking, the Earth Kings of the past have always distanced themselves from their subjects. They have ruled from afar, and rarely spent any extended time with anyone of the lower ranks. But for some reason, you have always been different. You have taken a keen interest in the every day lives of your people, and have even sought to bring yourself closer to their level. What are your plans for your kingdom now that you have returned? Are you going to continue to make yourself more available to your people, or has your journey changed your mind?

~Water Noble Katara~

User Image

Basic Information
This is a cosplay of Katara.
Katara is the daughter of the retired Water Chief Hakoda and the late Sage Kya. Her older brother is Water Chief Sokka, who is owned and played by ShinosBee.
Katara was colored by Safaia. She has not been seer rolled, and her future owner is welcome to roll her if they wish.

Contest Info
To enter, please fill out the coded form below with the answered prompt and post it in this thread. You can edit your posts, but I do not guarantee I will go back and reread them.

Prompt
When your group first set out, there were whispers amongst the Arba'Sehemu questioning why you were brought along. The search for the Avatar was supposed to be among clan leaders alone, and many thought a Noble had no place to be a part of it. How did you deal with this, both before your departure and during your journey? Have your thoughts on the subject changed at all? And why were you so insistent on being part of the group who searched for the Avatar?

Pop Quiz
How does one become a Noble in the Water Tribe? By being related to the current leaders. Or retired Princes and Princesses.
What is the process for becoming lifemates in the Water Tribe? An exchanging of a necklace by the male and then they are brought before the water chief and it is blessed, though the length of time varies.
Name one deity the Water Tribe worships. God of Water; La.
Is Rogue Breeding permitted in the Arba'Sehemu? Yes but depending on the clan, the outlook changes.
What clan will the next Avatar be born in? Water tribe

Prompt Response:

She had heard the whispers and the comments. She had felt the glare of jealous others who wished they could go. And she glared back at them. It was her place, beside her brother; the Water Chief. He needed her just as badly as she needed him. They only had each other really; and she knew that he wouldn't know what to do without her there to console him or to tell him to clean his face. Yet she felt as though people though it lowly of her; to tag along with the group; like a lost cub.

But she felt honored if anything. Honored that her brother wanted her there. That felt good. Half the leaders probably wished they had someone beside them; with a connection like Sokka and her shared. She had to keep him optimistic. She'd prod him every once and a while, reminding him of the old days; when they were cubs and simple things were ideal. When the moon above and the water below, helped to aid in lulling them to sleep. How good life was as children. And how good life was now.

"Just remember Sokka... I will always keep your back safe... just like you will keep mine."

Pop Quiz
How does one become a Noble in the Water Tribe? Being related to the Water Chief and his family.
What is the process for becoming lifemates in the Water Tribe? The male makes his intended a betrothal necklace to seal their engagement, then whenever they feel like finishing up the engagement process and marrying they go before the Water Chief, who blesses their union.
Name one deity the Water Tribe worships. Tui, goddess of the moon
Is Rogue Breeding permitted in the Arba'Sehemu? Yes, though it can have its IC consequences depending on the clan, so it’s something to be careful about!
What clan will the next Avatar be born in? Water Tribe *coughKorracough*

Prompt Response: Katara had always known that she would be a part of something important. She had also long believed in the return of the Avatar. Thus, when she had heard about the search for the lost Avatar, she was absolutely convinced that she needed to go. It wasn’t through some puffed up sense of self-importance, though! No, it truly wasn’t, even though she was the sister of the Water Chief and therefore of decent standing within the Tribe. She knew that she was meant to be a part of this group because she was supposed to be there.

A few weeks before the quest was brought up, Katara had a dream. In her dream, she was standing by the river at night, with a full moon high above her. As she stood there, watching the water and feeling very much like she was waiting for something, a feather drifted by in the opposite direction, carried on the wind, and dropped into the water. The feather flowed downstream a short distance, then drifted up to the shoreline and came to rest right between her paws. Bending down to take a look at it, Katara-in-the-dream was startled by its strange appearance.

The feather was mostly orange, but it had streaks of blue running through it, almost like the lines of waves. There were green spots, that the lioness later convinced herself were green stones, and red speckles that looked like nothing more or less than sparks. To her sound asleep mind, this feather was meant for her, and it was the most important thing in the world. When she woke next, the noble had been unable to shake the dream, and how it felt as though the Avatar needed her – her, specifically. When the first whispers began to circulate, Katara stayed quiet, and listened. Then, when discussion began of a pride-wide search for the avatar, consisting of all the pride leaders, she seized her chance and approached her brother.

Using every skill with words that she possessed (and not a small amount of sibling-persuasion tactics), she was granted permission to go. Of course, this caused whispers , but she kept her head held high. After all, the whisperers didn’t know about her dream. They didn’t know that she was meant to go on this quest; that she was special, and she had more important things to worry about than listening to them complain! Unfortunately, the other clan leaders didn’t know either, and the journey was more difficult than she had ever imagined. She had good ideas, and she knew more than they thought she did, but she was generally counted out of discussions because she wasn’t a clan leader and her words didn’t carry the weight she felt they should have. It wasn’t that they were cruel to her, or even mean – she just didn’t have the rank required for decision-making.

Still, she kept her head up and didn’t complain. The other leaders needed her, whether they wanted to admit it or not. They needed her Water tribe practicality; they needed someone to make sure everyone stayed rested and fed, and they – well, they needed her! And even if she wasn’t finding the avatar on her own, she was still an important part of the search, and that was all that mattered. So… even though it stung sometimes, she was mature enough to shrug it off. At least… until the group received word that the Avatar had already returned, and didn’t need to be found at all. This homecoming might be a good thing for the others, who had duties that they needed to return to, and would face no negative response when they returned to their clan, but for Katara, who had believed for so long that she was meant to be a part of something big, that she was meant to find to Avatar…

Katara, who was a mere noble, not a clan leader, who should never have gone on the journey in the first place… well, to be honest, she felt a little betrayed. Maybe her insistence to go along really had been nothing but the foolishness of a puffed-up ego. Maybe her dream had been just that: a dream with no meaning other than what she gave it. It was going to be a humiliating and unpleasant homecoming for her, she knew. The only bright spot among it all was that her brother, at least, was still likely to welcome her back. And maybe something good could still come of this. She just had to wait a little longer, to be less like the rushing river and more like the lake, waiting patiently for the rain to come.

She was still Katara of the Water Tribe, and she would never bow her head in shame.

How is the title of Fire Lord passed down? First born male of the Fire Lord's cubs - he is the Crown Prince before being named Fire Lord
What is the process for becoming lifemates in the Fire Nation? The male beseeches the female's parents to ask for her paw in marriage; if they say yes, both families come to watch the male and female (hopeful bride) duel. They can only be official mates if the male wins without harming the female.
Name one deity the Fire Nation worships. Agni, the fire god
Is Rogue Breeding permitted in the Arba'Sehemu? yes, but may have IC consequences depending on status/tribe
What clan will the next Avatar be born in? Water

Prompt Response:
It was a strange feeling, standing before the the crowd of blacks, reds, and blazing oranges and yellows. Not only was he and Mai the center of attention and cheer for his Fire Nation, but he now... ruled over them. Was this the feeling of power? Uncertainty?..

Obviously this was not what Azula or Ozai could have felt. He was just not used to it - that was all. It would take some time, but Zuko would rise to meet his expectations; he had been a devoted and passionate member his entire life, after all. And better yet, he had his love, Mai, to stand by him in face of adversary.

Zuko put on a calm smile, composing himself. He felt Mai's nuzzle come up from below his neck, and he embraced it, taking in a deep breath. There were so many things to get back to - to get used to, including the formalities of his Fire Nation. Though he had his coronation a long, long time ago, he and the other leaders left the lands for their journey to seek the Avatar right after the event. He barely had time to even order a guard to bring Mai some fruit!

It was ironic that the Avatar had come back to the lands during their absence. How could all of their efforts be in vain? Zuko thought it was somewhat rude of him, too. But he supposed the Avatar couldn't have known that important people were out there looking for him. But if the Avatar returned, why wouldn't he try to bring their group news sooner? When they all met Aang, they could almost all agree that he seemed very childish indeed - unlike previous responsible Avatars who acted much more mature. Yet, Aang did preserve the peace well in the lands... He breathed a sigh, confused with how he felt. Mai, on the other hand, returned his sigh and motioned for the two to leave to their quarters. She could tell much was on Zuko's mind, and the crowd was starting to annoy her, too. Perhaps things would be better without the constant pressure from public view.

The two strolled through the desert sands, silence giving them comfort and peace. Mai nuzzled Zuko again, looking into his eyes for consoling. She was very glad to be home, away from the dangers of the rogue lands - especially with her Zuko here with her, safe and sound. Who cared about what the Avatar had been doing? Everything seemed fine to her. She expressed that to Zuko, who pondered for a moment. Perhaps she was right. Having the Avatar back was a good thing. It was time for him to come back and devote himself to his nation.

Now that the war was over and the Avatar signified peace for the years to come, Zuko and Mai were more than ready to begin their ruling. As well, Zuko knew that it would only be right to offer aid to Aang to rebuild the Air Nomads, and so he would travel to where the Avatar was later. All Mai cared about was having Zuko at her side forever. And as Zuko looked back at Mai, he thought that perhaps he felt the same way.

Pop Quiz
How is the title of Earth King passed down? The title is passed down to whoever is both willing and worthy. To become Earth King, you must be willing to give up everything associated with your life before you became king, up to and including your own name. From then on, you will primarily be known by your title. Worth is determined by whether or not you could've beat the current king in battle. Usually, the first born male child becomes king after the king dies, because his worldy things will be taken away from him and it's assumed that he's worthy. An older child can reject the title, though. If that happens, then everyone interested in becoming the next king participates in a battle royale and the winner is considered worthy.
What is the process for becoming lifemates in the Earth Kingdom? The male asks the female's parents for permission. If he gets it, then he goes ona journey to get a Panda Lily, which he gifts to the female. The marriage ceremony consists of the couple and their families going before the Earth Sage and reciting vows. After that, they're life mates.
Name one deity the Earth Kingdom worships. Hei Bai.
Is Rogue Breeding permitted in the Arba'Sehemu? Yes, but depending on who it is, there'll be consequences and repercussions.
What clan will the next Avatar be born in? If the Avatar was born into the Air Clan now, then the Water Clan should be next.

Prompt Response: Is it possible to fall in love in a place? Because if it is, I love the Earth Kingdom! I love those mountains, that forest, this land...

Anyway, I've learned that if a leader wants to provide the best for his people, then he has to actually know his people, you know? When I was up on that pedestal, there was so little I knew, but I thought I knew it all. The people I trusted were all feeding me lies too and I ate it, because I thought it was food, not poison. I ate poison. Gross!

Now that I'm back, I'm going to keep going out to the people. I want them all to know my face. I want them all to be able to trust me. I also want to be able to know and trust them in turn.
