Kasi wasn't stupid. Admittedly, the events weeks prior might have others doubting that statement, but she wasn't. She knew there was only one reason why she would be getting bigger during the drought. It definitely wasn't the 'abundance of food' she was eating!

At first, she denied it. Then she panicked. She might have cried a little, but she would deny it to her dying breath, before she finally got herself under control enough to leave her den.

She went immediately to Azar's den, walking swiftly in hopes of hiding her lightly - and barely noticeable yet - swollen stomach from the prying eyes of the pride. What was she going to do? She didn't know, but Azar would help. She had to help. Azar always knew what to do.

"Azar!" She called out instantly, reaching the den. Oh, Mkodi, she hoped that Azar's mate wasn't home, because her voice broke slightly. Pregnancy hormones, she decided firmly, even as her panic clawed at her throat. "Azar," She repeated, standing in the doorway and glancing anxiously behind her, as if waiting for someone to notice her and yell out her secret.

Azar had been spending a lot of he time running around the pride. She was either running around helping with everything that she could, she hadn't even been able to spend some time with her children like she liked to. She knew that all of her chidlren were adults but she still liked to be able to spend some time with them. And when she wasn't in the pride doing various things, she was in the den passed out, a crazy rogue couldn't even really wake her up. Today was basically one of those days where she was passed out in her den her tail flicking around slightly. she had gotten some time the night before to leave her spot early so she could rest, and she had been resting through the afternoon and it was almost night time, about midnight and she knew that she had to start rousing herself awake again.

However something caused her to wake up sooner then she had expected to. She knew it wasn't her mate wasn't to be home until a litte later, as she woke up more and more she realized who it was. Kasi! however as she heard the second Azar she looked up and looked a little confused at the lioness. That was odd she had never heard that tone in the lioness's voice ever before. she wasn't really awake, awake yet but she stretched her paws out and got herself a little more comfortable, shifting up and opening her eyes as quickly as she could. "Hello, there, come on in sweetie." she said simply nodding to the lioness.

She paused again as she looked at the lioness before flicking her tail around behind her. She was still tired, she couldn't really see the lioness's belly however she could smell something in the air, something odd that she had smelt before, she knew what it was but she didn't realy know what to say to the lioness at the same time. she paused before speaking. "Is everythign alright?" She said followed by a yawn. She was concerned however she was trying her hardest to stay calm, she knew that she needed to stay calm that was the best solution.

Kasi was so relieved when she saw movement and heard Azar's voice from within the den. The invitation was all it took, and soon she scrambled into the den, her eyes scanning the darkened area, so very thankful that there was no male figure in there as well. She just didn't know what she would have done if Azar's mate had been home. Probably grab the elder female and drag her outside with her to talk instead, but this way was better. More private. Safer.

She felt slightly relaxed at the nickname 'sweetie'. She was safe with Azar. It would be fine! That was, until Azar asked her question. Then panic came rushing back.

No!” Kasi blurted out, but then rethought. “Yes. Well, no. Oh, I don't know.” She almost wanted to cry, but she would not cry in front of her mentor!

Oh, Azar,” Kasi whispered, feeling her legs no longer supporting her. She flopped onto the floor of the den, eyes wide. “I've done something stupid.”

Your son, Kasi thought, slightly hysterical, though she kicked herself for that thought. Admit her condition to Azar first, then mention who was the dad. Oh, she hoped Azar wouldn't hate her for this.

The older lioness slowly started to wake up and process more and more. she could tell that the lioness was really worried. she appeared to be really worried and that concerned her a lot. She was used to seeing the lioness i a much better condition and this was well odd. Kasi reminded Azar a lot of herself when she was younger. Azar was still indeed very much full of life however she was more mild mannered at this age. But she remembered being Kasi's age and doing the same things. Now even though Azar wasn't exactly old she did have a litter of adult children at this point. However she admired Kasi because of this.

she paused as she looked at the lioness before speaking. "something is the matter, I can tell, but what is it?" She asked curiously before chuckling at the lioness's next comment. "there is nothing wrong with doing something stupid, we all do from time to time." She said simply with an other chuckle. To a point she was happy to have the lioness even come to her in the first place to talk. It made her happy to know that Kasi trusted her enough to ome to her.

Kasi stared at her mentor from her position on the floor of the den. Her tail had unconsciously curled around her back legs. She waited a moment, trying to calm both her mind and her heart so that she might be able to speak without stammering. That would be so embarrassing - stammering like a shy cub in front of another person? Never. Even if she had admit something like her stupidness, she wasn't going to look foolish doing it.

She took a deep, steadying breath, taking in some of the female's calmness as she did so. She pushed herself up, so she was sitting and no longer sprawled on the floor.

"People do stupid things from time to time," she repeated, staring at her paws, then Azar's paws, though she finally dragged her gaze up to meet Azar's eyes. Her own were likely reflecting panic and worry. "But most people don't do something as stupid as - without having a mate, in the middle of a drought - get pregnant."

She hadn't admitted it out loud before, so her own confession shocked her, and her ears dropped. Oh, what had she done? The pride was in turmoil and she was going to bring more lives into it. More mouths to give water too. More people to feed. She would give up her own food and water if she had to, to keep them alive though. She'd never, ever let her babies - oh god, she was having babies - suffer because of her actions.

Thats what it was! Azar knew there was something up and as she woke up more and more and as the lioness confessed she realized that there was the smell of mother in the air. that was exciting for Azar, she loved having cubs around and even though they weren't grandcubs (as far as she knew so far) she was happy to have some one that she cared about have the cubs. She took in what the lioness was saying, so kasi didn't have a mate but was about to have cubs, really Azar didn't care. The drought thing wasn't that great but she knew it could be pulled through with and everything was going to be okay. She knew it was going to be okay but she had a feeling the other lioness didn't know that. It really wasn't that much of a question she really knew that the other lioness didn't think it was okay.

Azar smiled and then stood up moving to the side of the lioness and then flopping down behind her and then licking the top of the lioness's head a few times. "Don't worry." She said simply laughing a little. She kept licking the lioness's head, something that she would do to her own cubs when they were worried about one thing or another. "In the long run it will all be okay. I can promise you that." she paused for a moment thinking about it before sitting back on her haunches and talking to the lioness once again. "If you need any help, you know where I am, and I'm pretty sure you're mother will help if you need it. She stated to the lioness, she flicked her tail around once again before asking a interesting question. "You don't have to tell me, but who is the fahter?"

Kasi waited on baited breath for what her mentor would say, fearing that she would be disappointed. When she felt the elder female flop beside her, and the calming licks that were placed to the top of her head, she opened her eyes and turned slightly to look at Azar. She nearly fainted at the laughter and the calming expression on the female's face. She...didn't hate Kasi? Oh thank fire!

She squeezed her eyes closed, flopping against Azar a little, so very relieved that she was not alone in this. Not that she could be alone, considering she was part of the pride, and part of a rather huge family, but she really had needed Azar's support with this. “Thank you, Azar,” she said, her voice slightly husky with emotions that she was stubournly keeping locked away.

The question stunned her though and her eyes went wide. Her gaze fall to her paws. She knew the question was coming. How could it not? Azar had to be curious over who fathered the drought babies, but the words stuck in Kasi's throat. Azar might not have hated her before, but would she after she found out who Kasi had flung with?

She had to tell her though. Azar deserved to know that Kasi was carrying her grandcubs.

She cleared her throat, and managed to force out, in almost a squeak (she'd deny that it was a squeak to her dying breath), “Kakek.”

The older lioness continued to clean the top of the other female's head. she enjoyed the company fo the lioness. Even though Azar had been recently promoted and she really had some time that she could spend out of the den and out of work where she could help the lioness and take care of things for her. She wasn't that sure of what to think of the lioness bring pregnant. She just couldn't help but to think that if Kasi was expecting cubs she was old enough to become a grandmother. No! No! Azar wasn't old! she had plenty of engery to do a lot of things. She was still easily keeping up with the other lions around the pride and she was happy taking care of the other lions around the pride and she knew that she could take on chasing around a few other lions. "No problem."

However she say back and listened to what the lioness was saying. Kakek? Who ever Kakek was had to have been a strong and worthy male. If Kasi though he was good enough he had to be good enough. But as Azar thought about it Kakek, who ever he was- WAIT. HER SON WAS MAKING HER OLD. She was going to become a grandmother and there was nothing she could do about it. She could smack the boy in the back of the head. Then again she Always though Kakek and Kasi were an interestingly cute couple. But at the same time didn't they fight all the time? There were so many things going though her mind. She had no clue what to think about it. She was so confused. She stared forward at the end and though. There were so many thoughs running through her mind.

Kasi waited. and waited. and waited for Azar's response, practically not breathing as she waited for the inevitable words. Was Azar going to say it was alright? Tell Kasi to leave? Say that she wouldn't acknowledge her future grandcubs? No. Azar wasn't like that. Azar was much nicer than that!

But...why wasn't she saying anything?

Kasi raised her gaze from her paws, staring up at Azar with a terrified look. She was staring out into the distance, not even looking at Kasi. Oh no, what had she done?

She wanted to laugh it off, pretend it was just a joke - a bad joke, but still a joke - but she knew Azar would have smelt motherhood on her by now and it wasn't in Kasi's nature to joke, especially not about something like having cubs and definitely not about Kakek.

"A-Azar?" She spoke, her voice shaking only slightly. "Please say something."

Even if Azar was going to yell at her, she needed the female to say something. Anything.

Azar really didn't even notice that she didn't say anything. She stared and tried to figure out what she was going to say to the lioness. She had no clue what to think about the situation. She had no problem with the fling between the two lions. She knew that she was going to help the lioness take care of the cubs, especially now. She really didn't have a problem with the situation though. However on the other hand. AZAR WAS OLD NOW. She couldn't believe it, it really upset her she really wasn't that old was she? She didn't think that she was. She took a moment and then snapped out of it and looked at the lioness. "You guys are trying to make me old!" She laughed a little nervously.

She chuckled though and nuzzled the lioness. "Welcome to the family." She said before stretching herself out and standing up. "come, you should come see my sister and get yourself set up and checked out to make sure that everything is okay." She motioned toward the outside of the den. she was thankful for the the medic's in the pride. They weren' around when she first had cubs.

Kasi almost fell over with relief - even though she was still lying down - when Azar laughed, even if it was a nervous laugh. She barely heard what teh female said, as she worked to reign in her emotions at the nuzzle, and the following words.

Azar wasn't angry! In fact, Kasi was welcomed? It was more than she could hope for. She pushed herself up to follow Azar, and nearly fell, her legs feeling weak but she kept standing.

"Thank you, Azar," Kasi said, her voice husky with emotions as she smiled at her mentor and friend. She forced herself to change the subject, lest she burst into tears. "And you're not old, Azar, you're ageless," she announced, with a crooked smile. She hadn't thought of going to a medic though, and was glad that Azar had. She moved to the mouth of the den, ready to follow her.

A small chuckle escaped from her lips as she pushed herself up and moved closer to the front of the den and then turned to look at the younger lioness. "No problem Kasi." She began to walk quickly, but slow enough that she knew the other lioness could keep up. She had been to her sister's den plenty of times but never before did she for another lioness. She then finally answered the lioness's last comment with a smirk she turned back and spoke. "Ah, but ageless is anotther way to say old." She winked at the lioness as she continued to walk. It was oging to be an interesting day.

Kasi followed after her mentor, smiling in relief and feeling lighter than she had in days since she had figured it out. She still had Azar’s support, and that was so important to her. Unfortunately, telling Azar was making it feel so much more real, and it reminded her that she still had to tell Kakek. She winced, and tried to distract herself from those thoughts.

But ‘ageless’ is better than ‘ancient’, yes?” She said, mostly to tease, a crooked half smile on her face, happy to have Azar to talk to, to relax with. Azar knew her secret and hadn’t pushed her away. Maybe there was hope for Kasi's normal life still.

PostPosted: Sun Dec 25, 2011 7:14 pm

Azar let out a loud and healthy chuckle to what the lioness had to say, she smiled from ear to ear before she spoke to the lioness. "I agree," She couldn't help but to laugh a little more. "I find it extremely true thats for sure. "I would much rather be ageless that sounds much more fun then ageless thats for sure." She giggled once again flicking her hair out of her eyes and then she chuckled. "having kids and watching them grow up make you feel ageless though on the other hand." She then looked at the lioness and winked at her, she knew it that it was something that might not exactly help how the lioness was feeling but at the sametime she wanted to try.

Kasi giggled a little at Azar's words, smiling. She felt...happy, for the first time since she realised why her belly was swelling. She still had to tell Kakek, and...gosh, she still had to tell her own mother, but for now, she had Azar's support and that was enough to boost her spirits. She'd worry about the others later.

"I'm looking forward to it," she said honestly, a little surprised with herself, glancing down at her lightly swollen stomach. "I'm...I don't want to get old, but...I guess getting the opportunity to guide the future of the pride through these cubs...is exciting." It was akwardly said, but honest. She wanted to be good to the pride, and how she raised her cubs could help or hinder the pride. She was excited to raise the next generation, but getting old? Never.

She smiled at Azar. "Strange how the idea of babies has made me excited for the future." Kasi had always been looking forward to what wouldhappen next, what was her next goal, ect. ect. but the idea of cubs of her own, even though if they shared DNA with Kakek, was an exciting prospect.

'I'll take care of you, babies, Kasi thought to herself, adressing her unborn offspring. 'You'll be my first priority - always.'
