I thought the point of the dissipator system was to shy away from the unreliable midlength gas systems in favor of carbine systems.
no. original dissipators were cut down and re crowned rifle length systems. the idea behind it was to have the added maneuverability of a carbine with the accuracy and handguards of a full rifle length system. the problem was that the shorter barrel caused timing issues in the rifle length gas system. nowadays dissipators with carbine and midlength systems are more commonplace
midlength gas system is incredibly reliable on a 16 inch, and a much better option than a carbine gas system which has another timing issue of it's own where it wants to extract too early.
so that being said midlength is ideal

the only reason I am not building from parts my own AR...scream
waiting on a rear MBUS to come in the mail, and ill probably throw on a vortex strike fire optic later on
